    oh boy not even a week into pride month and there's dumbass flag discourse on here already

    there's some new pansexual flags going around and i would like to reiterate that the reason they exist is literally just to exclude and harass other queers. yeah. that's literally it. that's what you are perpetuating if you uncritically use these flags.

    the reason these new flags exist is because some dipsh*ts disagreed with the creator of the original one supporting a marginalized group of queer people:

    imagine if you will that we're back in 2010, you're non-binary, and people are harassing you because you're "not really trans". because you "dilute what it means to be a Real Trans Person". then someone shows support for non-binary people! cool! but then those people harassing you start a whole hate campaign against this person, and use and modify their work into something that specifically signals "hey, non-binary people freaking suck!".

    that's literally what this is like.

    so don't give support to stuff like this.

    there's currently over 30 or so states in the USA that are or have been trying to get anti-queer legislation passed. trans people in the UK have to deal with their government and their media being institutionally and systemically transphobic against them. there's much more serious things you should dedicate your attention to.

    i would like to tell you to dedicate your attention towards taking action against dire situations like those instead of focusing on flag discourse — but while we're at, it i need to point out that stuff like this flag discourse directly contributes to those situations.

    TERFs always have and always will try to weaken the queer community, as they feel like it's a threat to their values and the power they have amassed in life. if the queer community is fractured on trivial issues like bi lesbians, they are less busy with fighting against legislation, discrimination, and other forms of actual oppression. bi lesbians have always existed, it's TERFs who are actively demonising them and describing them as a threat to the queer community, in virtually the exact same ways as they describe trans women as a threat to cis women.

    by giving your support for actions against them and other marginalized queer groups, you're effectively giving support to your oppressors. so please. examine what you're doing, become aware of it, and cut it out. 👏

    oh there's enough people who just make their own designs for fun or because they think the widely used flags are ugly (ahem the polyamorous flag for instance)

    but there's also plenty of people who make flags because of discourse like this. i don't blame anyone using those flags without knowing about that, but it's good to make people aware of it.

    And yes, when you create banners they will now be 1070 x 275; banners prior to this update will be scaled to fit the pop reel. Change is hard for some, it'll just take a little getting used to!
