poll Poll : What's your go-to first night strategy?
Hi. I know haven't been entirely active as I was and I have been in fact avoiding the site as much as I can because the current situation is pissing me off and it hurts to think about what could happen who knows when.
I'm going to make this incredibly clear when I say that I will be leaving PMC in one way or another if genAI is welcomed/allowed/protected on this site.
I genuinely do not want to leave. This community has been incredibly supportive, safe, and welcoming to me for the 5+ years I've been here and it would hurt to have to leave a place and the people I love and appreciate and I know there are others who feel the same way. But I cannot stay where genAI slop is welcome (in a community where it's literally called a "Creative Community Fansite") and where the guy in charge of the site used genAI, never made a public apology about it (not even a private one) to his community, and now is trying to come up with the most complicated looking idea for a rule that is in favor of genAI staying. Your words mean nothing if there was no acknowledgement that you did something wrong that hurt a lot of people (and straight up stole from artists) and then you go ahead and make decisions like what is shown below.
This community's majority is it's artist's and if you allow thieves on the site to post genAI slop in any percentage, you can expect the community to fall apart. The community is what makes this site and keeps it going. The community should have a say on what happens, so publicly include the community. Listen to your moderators that say that they are willing and able to moderate genAI and communicate with them (because there seems to be a very big lack of communication happening).
Also, just going to point out that when someone uses genAI, it communicates to others that they are lazy and don't want to put in any actual effort. What do you think that says about the rest of what they made? Are we sure they put in any actual human effort or was that too just made with genAI? It ruins the entire thing. GenAI ruins any actual human effort that may have been put into it. I'm not going to trust someone to have made the whole thing themselves if they're taking shortcuts and stealing actual artists work to put it in their thumbnail. That is, unless they apologize, fix it, and make actual effort to change and grow as a person. Animation studios aren't going to hire people who use genAI to "create" animations even if the rest of their work was actually made by them. That goes for other creative industries. It puts a black mark on your reputation and ability to get a career in any creative arts.
If you want suggestions, my suggestion is to outright ban genAI (which is not a bad ask), and make it to where your moderators can moderate genAI easier. Such as easily just resetting mod/blog/etc images and/or temporarily taking down content (like in a draft form). I know that it's been said before that moderating profiles is not doable, but I think if moderators were given the ability to moderate someone and reset their profile picture, banner, widgets (or putting widgets in a draft form where the person who got moderated can edit the widget and resubmit for approval), etc, then that'd make it easier. Also sharing resources and teaching the other moderators how to spot genAI easier is a good idea as well. Also no, no algorithm. Why do we need an algorithm? PMC already rocks well with just the popular reel, following specific people, the search bar, and the organized sections that allow us to click on what we want to see which usually starts with updated content. We do not need to organize things based on how much genAI there is or not. That's so much more complicated and makes no sense and I can guarantee that the community does not want genAI period.
For pete's sake please just listen to your artist/creative community and don't allow genAI users to post their slop on here.

Well, a jam is a PMC feature that allows people to submit skins, texture packs, maps, etc. often going off of a theme. This one in particular is autumn/fall themed. It will likely be held during… well… Fall!
Help bring our upcoming October in-game event to life by creating a festive NPC skin! Think scarecrow farmers, pie vendors, wandering storytellers, anyone you'd meet at a cozy Fall celebration. Give them a name, a location in the festival, and maybe even a few fun lines of dialog. Your creation could become part of the festival world!
We're gearing up for an exciting Fall Festival on Planet Minecraft, and we need your creativity to make it spectacular! Join the Planting Season Jam by contributing builds, blogs, or art inspired by autumn themes like harvest, cozy vibes, and festive celebrations.
