    New world map before GTA6 lul

    The UN voted for a new map projection to be used - Bye Bye Mercator, hello equal earth c:
    New one comes with better country proportions and doesnt exxagerates the polar regions as much

    also only now I noticed that mercator freacking placed the equator line into Algeria instead of Gabon, DRC, Kenya etc. wth xD

    Wish we'd put our resources into non generative ai that helps people instead of putting resources into generative ai that replaces and steals from artists while simultaneously putting artists up to a bar where they get treated like robots and make it physically, mentally, and emotionally impossible to keep up.

    so like. whats the point of generative ai. what is it supposed to do, exactly. what practical purposes does it have

    lets see, it can... write things faster than a person. not as good, though.

    it can make images faster than a person. again, not as good though.

    it can... uhh... make really annoying internet bots.

    it can help companies cut corners by using ai instead of hiring designers, at the cost of... worse designs...

    uh

    am i missing anything

    just wondering, cause like, non-generative ai is doing pretty cool things. like detecting tumors. quite literally fighting cancer

    As August's sweltering sun sets and the September sun rises, I want to give a general PSA!
    September is celebrating a lot of things! National Hispanic Heritage month from September 15th to October 15th, but we generally celebrate it for the whole of September!
    September also celebrates National Library card sign up month, so get yourselves a library card, a nice drink, and plenty of festive books for the harvest season coming up!
    Speaking of which, happy harvests to those who need/want/appreciate it! We appreciate you 🫶! Fall is coming! And I won't tell if you start setting up for Halloween already 😉
    September is also National Suicide Prevention Month! There's a few good handfuls of resources if you or someone you love is struggling, please stay safe!
    Self-care, self-improvement, and self-love! Harvest, National Hispanic Heritage Month, and prevention! Can't think of a better month to celebrate it all!
    And for Pride days, keep an eye out for these days!
    Sept 18th, HIV/AIDS awareness day!
    Sept 23rd week, Bisexual awareness week, with the 23rd being Bisexual day!
    Sept 27th, national gay men's HIV/AIDS awareness day!
    Additionally, the last week of September celebrates Banned Books, so swing by a bookstore and purchase a good banned book to bundle up to and drink your pumpkin lattes to! International breast and ovarian cancer awareness week is also the last week of September! Go cancer patients and recoverees!
    Over all, have a wonderful end of August and beginning of September! Feel free to add to this list in separate posts or in the comments! Stay safe, loves! 🫶

    webdev stuff i learned today.
    Was kinda confused why there were these random path requests for my site and investigated a bit.
    • There are automated reconnaissance bots casually skimming through the web searching for access points / logins to webservers or backends to attack (knew about that)
    • What i didnt yet know was one way how they do that, supposedly this is a "asset fingerprinting", trying to get a response from hidden web server/pages which usually doesnt respond or straightup blocks that stuff, but regardless of request sends like favicons/logos of the login page and therefor giving like a "positive" response back.

    Kraggle09 I misread "/static/icon/bjch.png" as "/static/icon/bitch.png" and was very confused as to why you'd name a file that XD

    One of the three most dreaded days in Transformers history has unfortunately finally come… as first reported by TMZ, Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime, Ironhide, and many others, has tragically passed away at 85.

    Rest in peace. Thank you for being an amazing voice actor and an amazing person and blessing millions of people with your roles.

    Peter Cullen was indeed a legendary voice actor. May he RIP. Also RIP to Tim Curry too. Both of them brought so much joy through their work. 😞🥀🕊️
