    I&'ve always had a bit of a dream to have a skin "dressing room" website where you can create skins based on combined free to use bases and assets people post. Maybe even kind of in the style of Gacha Life or something like that. I& have zero coding knowledge, so this is unlikely to ever become a reality, but I& drew a mockup of how I& imagine it anyway just for fun!

    A good place to start if you want to pursue coding knowledge for websites is the HTML and Python languages. I've messed around with these two in tandem while in college to create websites hosted on my local network, but it's all the same building blocks a web hosted site would need.

    I know if this was created, I would use it.

    It's a good idea, it just needs to be slightly curated because different shading styles can clash. I as an example use about 100 colours per skin, even though it's not high level shading.

    Well, that was a lot of backlog to go through and post... o_0 And I& will soon have 3 more skins once I&'m finished with my& work :D I&'m finally trying out getting medicated for ADHD so I& might be able to post more consistently if it works!

    Skinfight started and it'll be the first one that I&'m participating in for me&!!! :DDD Hopefully I& can get some cool skins in, AND since it's pride month I&'m considering making a pride skin or a few!! I& have been struggling with getting myself& to interact with people more lately, so this is gonna be a good opportunity to change that >:D

    Reasons why I& still haven't gotten a skindex account:
    1. Would have to repost all of my& old skins (annoying)
    2. The editor is atrocious (seriously I& kinda wanna make a whole video reviewing just how bad it is compared to PMC3D)
    3. The social features are much clunkier than here
    Reasons why I& want to get on skindex anyway:
    1. All the cool people are there and all the contests and community stuff happen there (WHY??)

    skindex isn't worth it, don't do it to urself.
    the moderation is worse and there are more children w/ no fear of consequence.
    not sure if it's changed any but the drama was every other day.
    the contests are mostly reshades, there's more variety in pmc jams imo + the biggest events (skin fight, skinner's olympics, sspbl, etc.) all take place on pmc as well as skindex, so u rlly aren't missing out on much community-wise..

    Really wish there was like a modern version of Skincraft... or anything similar where you could make skins out of pre-made bases and assets picrew-style! Like yes you could just do it in any 2D image editor, but Skincraft was so fun.... D:

    YEAH it needs an update really really badly.... I& don't have the programming knowledge for something like this but would definitely love to contribute assets for a dressup type game D: There IS a free to use code for a 3D skin viewer and theoretically all one would need is a system that can overlay 2D textures when you press the corresponding button but auughh I& don't even know how to code that either... I& guess I& could put out a call asking for any volunteer programmers in the community if they'd want to help make this but I& don't think anybody would ;_;

    i used skincraft a lot as a kid but i revisited it shortly before the death of flash and it was an actual nightmare

    color selection, specifically. it wouldn't save your place on the color wheel so if you wanted to hue shift or something you'd just have to guess where you were on the wheel last.

    i have thought about putting together like a..kinda like a dressup game (like skincraft's premade parts) for minecraft skins before though

    So... while scrolling through old DMs to find which skins were whose commissions, I& found a semi-recent conversation I& had with a person that was so so sweet and made me& shocked just how much impact a skin I& made had on this person :'] I& wanted to share these really nice messages with everyone because they made me& very happy and because I& think this would be inspiring to other skinmakers to know that you too could have an impact like this!!

    A while ago (in 2022) back when I& just got into the skinning hobby, one of the first skin commissions I& ever got was from sun7set on Tumblr, who asked me& to remake two skins - I& never posted the other one, and it's not relevant to the story, but I& did post the moss-covered crash test dummy one here almost a whole year after making it when I& finally decided to properly start posting on PMC.

    I& thought nothing of it for over two years and then one day, all of a sudden, I& receive this message:

    AND FELLAS. WHEN I& SAY I& CRIED??????? This was the best exchange I& have ever had on the internet and I& met some wonderful people out there, SO HUGE LOVE AND APPRECIATION FOREVER TO THIS ONE COMMISSIONER THAT MADE ME& CRY OVER THE FRIENDSHIP AND STORY OF YOUR FRIENDS!!!!!


    Even if you know and realize that people can download and use your skins, or that all the skin commissions will probably get used in the game, sometimes you still feel like once you send it, once you put it out there, the fate of your work will be unknown to you. So to all the skinners and other Minecraft makers who have ever put anything out there to be used by someone else, this post is here to remind you that someone somewhere loves what you made and you may have influenced their life more than you realize!!! Everything that you make will live a whole story where you can't see, and it's so beautiful and something to remember!!! <3

    And if you are someone who has ever commissioned or downloaded a skin, a mod, a texture pack, a map, anything at all... this is also an appreciation post for you. Us artists and creators want nothing more than to be able to impact someone's life, it's the greatest honour possible. I& encourage all of you to write a similar message to someone you've commissioned or downloaded from before, because this will almost certainly make our day and we will remember your kindness forever <333!!!!!!

    Trying to find references for how other people do curly hair on skins and there's just straight up nothing???? All the results are either wavy hair or the Mouthwashing character -_- And even when looking for POC skins specifically they almost all have straight or wavy hair but not tight curls D: Do I& try to develop my& own templates/make a tutorial??? I& just wanted to make a Jakeneutron skin and see how people do his type of hairstyle

    Had an idea to make a resource pack that adds literally all of The Sims 4 furniture in Minecraft... o_o So far I& modelled 1 (one) chair and that took me& an hour and a half... but it did feel satisfying. Even if it won't go anywhere, it might be good for my& portfolio lol

    I& have a question for people here! Do you check out descriptions a lot? Because I& have a Figura model skin that I& made for a friend a while ago, and I&'m wondering if it would be better to post the skin normally and put the Figura version in the description, or to make a blogpost showcasing the model and add the vanilla skin version of it alongside that way! :D


    (Also, would be cool if there were more hype around mods such as Figura on here in general! :D)

    Hey there! :'D Wanted to do a little update on the Skinsider project!

    Unfortunately as you can probably tell it has been put on hold lol... It was a large scale idea that was a little too ambitious for me&, and not really feasible to organize or contribute to while I& had university and two zines going on. And now I& have one more project added to the pile, so it'll definitely have to wait.

    I& think we all know this feeling of having a super cool idea that you were not actually able to execute, so I& hope y'all understand me& :'D

    HOWEVER! That does not mean that it's never going to happen! It has been on my& mind the whole time, so quite a few ideas for articles and page layouts have brewed up. I& don't know when I& won't be so busy anymore, and by then all the skins I& asked for permissions to show off are probably going to be ages old (which is fine! Old skins deserve some love too). It might take quite a few months!

    If any of you thought the idea of a skin fashion magazine was cool, but you don't want to wait ages for it to become reality, then you are fully welcome to take the idea for yourself and put together your own zine! :D In fact, I& would love to give some small help to anyone that wants to do so! Just not something I& can fully commit to myself& in the moment.

    Hopefully this wasn't too disappointing... It was just a fun hobby side project idea after all...

    Guys I& don't know if anyone has done this before but I& had an idea for a skin fashion magazine!!! :0 It could be called Skinsider (like Insider but Skin get it) or maybe something else, leave your suggestions!!

    It would be like showcasing really cool skins in a professional photography style and maybe even have little articles on like what's trending or advice on how to design and make your skins!! I&'d contact various skinners and such and ask if they'd want their works showcased and if they have some articles they want to write :3

    Need to move away from Tumblr for my& own sake and make some friends here! Not yet sure how though... didn't think that far through ( •̩̩̩̩＿•̩̩̩̩) Well, if anyone wants to chat or give advice, I&'m up for it! :D


    Also my& previous post ended up being a lie so far because I& still haven't even posted any non-commission works yet, but! I& still have the plans to to experiment with HD skins and reshade contests! I& want to build up a portfolio with HD skins :3

    Colour theory is one of my& FAVOURITE TOPICS EVER it's so deeply interesting I& could ramble about it forever!!! You just gotta research it and try things out in practice!! Generally as a rule of thumb I& keep my& colour count as low as possible so I&'m forced to reuse colours in places where I&'d be tempted to add new ones (such as using the shirt's shadow as the pants highlight) and you gotta get weird with it! Weird colours look cool and are fun to work with! I& have a lot of more specific advice and tips but that's maybe not for a comment reply lol

    A bit of a diary-esque rambleeee

    I& think literally half the promotion and advertisement I& get on my& skin commissions is people who have already commissioned me& telling their friends about me& lol. People! If you're a talented skin artist people WILL commission you more! Never give up :D And on the other end, if you liked how something you ordered came out, sharing it with your friends goes a long way!
