    Now at my second destination, which is Cassis

    I'll be completely honest here, I don't know if I'll be uploading anything before I'm home.

    I have a decent amount of time, but it can be very broken up, and I've had virtually no energy in the evenings because of busy (and very hot!) afternoons.

    I'm also so easily distracted by other things online, it's almost pathetic

    Honestly I wouldn’t pressure yourself to upload at all, it’ll keep you from enjoying what’s supposed to be your vacation. Instead look at it as you don’t need any work done by the time you get home, but whatever you do have done is time you’ve earned yourself later on!

    Still nothing done again tonight, but I had a lot going on so I sort of expected that.

    Tomorrow, I'll be busy during the day, but have a lot.of time in the evening, so I'll try to get something out, or at least worked on, then.

    At Nice airport now

    The terminal I've arrived at seem a bit better than the one I departed from two years ago.

    Next up is a coach to Aix-en-Provence that will take almost as long as the flight :skull:

    Also it's expected to hit 33C/92F. Quite hot, but I already had temps that high in Paris, and it's been fairly warm back at home too (much to my annoyance each evening).

    No progress again today, but I sort of expected that since the trip to France and Italy begins tomrrow.

    Hopefully I'll be able to break through things and get going again with more skins soon.

    Got nothing done again today :/

    I had a bunch of things to sort out with ahead of my trip to France and Italy, and even they don't actually take that long, having to deal with them REALLY throws me out of my usual flow. Trying to find new contests to enter, pick a good idea for my own 1200 followers contest, and make my entry for the LoreREBORN tourney was already not easy, but it quickly becomes out of the question when I keep being interrupted.

    I don't know how active I'll be during the trip either, and tbh, I really don't how broken up my entire summer has been, especially when my best opportunities to be productive jsut HAD to line up with all the hottest days...

    I still hoped to get an entry out despite that, like eclxpsehqtter/Kokano, but things keep getting in the way (including my own procrastination lol)

    And my entry wasn't going to be anything that interesting anyway (the piece 8 had planned was about two of my OCs rushing to catch a train) since I'm much more of a worldbuilder than a storybuilder, but I still hoped to do something.

    I might still do it, but I need to find a way to not have it get in the way of my skins so much. I haven't even started anything since I uploaded the Mangopaws contest entry.

    A few days ago I passed 1.2K followers Skindex. I want to hold some sort of event to celebrate that, but I'm finding it hard to decide what I should do.

    Just hit 1200 followers on Skindex!

    Even though the results for my 1k follower toruney are nowehre close to ready, I'm thinking of holding another smaller event for the more recent milestone! Let me know what you think yourself!

    Congrats!!! I’d join the contest, but I don’t make skins anymore.. but ai hope you get a lot of people who join! I think a milestone thing would be coool :D

    Now that SkinFight has concluded (and I made it to 120 attacks!), it's time for me to begin an event that I have decided to call The Great Commenting.


    No prizes for guessing what that event is about lol.

    Not sure I'll be using this much myself (at least until Skindex implements something similar), but it's a great feature for those who wish to use it.

    Skin artists can now choose whether to disable downloads on per skin basis. Why? Because some artists want to share their personal skins, some want to share commissions, and some just want credit and more control over how their work gets used elsewhere.

    When you upload or edit a skin (or mob skin), you'll find a new "Allow public downloads" toggle. Turn it off and:
    • The download button disappears from the page
    • The direct download link is blocked, even if someone has it bookmarked
    • Your skin still shows up fully in listings, your profile, and search. It's just view-only

    This is opt-in and only affects new uploads or skins you edit. Nothing changes for your existing downloadable content unless you flip the switch yourself.

    Artists please note that this feature discourages casual downloads but cannot guarentee complete protection of your work. Hoping to see some high quality inspirational skins that would otherwise never see the light of PMC!

    SkinFight is just a few days from ending

    While I'm really happy with the number of attacks I've been able to do, and how well my team has been doing, there are other aspects I'm not the happiest about. I'll talk about it more at the start of July.

    I'd been doing well with my pace for a while, but yesterday and today were a bit slow. The weather is especially warm at the moment, so I've been a fair bit less productive while at my computer, and also spent less time at it in general since we've been spending extra time outside (heatwaves in Ireland are child's play compared to elsewhere, so it's not dangerous to go out if you take basic precautions).

    The good news is more comfortable temperatures are arriving tomorrow, and I'll have a free evening to make plenty of friendly fires (as long I don't spend way too long choosing what to attack, I've always struggled with that lol).

    At this point, I think getting to 120 attacks is definitely possible, but far from guaranteed. To reach that number, I'd need to be averaging 4.2 attacks per day for rhe remaining few days. t
    Tbh that doesn't sound very hard, but that's assuming I don't face more IRL disruptions or take longer and longer to choose which OCs to do.

    Today was meant to be the day I finally picked my pace back up, but all I managed to do was five attacks, and that's including one I finished last night, so really only did four today (one in the morning and three in the evening).

    I'm not sure why this is happening, but I think it's due to a trend I've been noticing since I started doing SF, which is that each year, there's a tendency towards more and more OCs with complicated/fantastical designs (this year has a seen a LOT of characters where the reference isn't a skin at all!), and far fewer OCs with casual and simple designs.

    Or maybe I'm just imagining that and it's not actually happening.

    no, this is actually true, I’ve been noticing this too
    theres some people on my team that I am terrified of doing friendly fires for (and probably won’t even attempt if I do somehow get around to them) who don’t even have like- actual- human skins for me to attack. and there was one I had been putting off for half the month just because i didn’t know how I was going to approach it (which I finally had to do last night but at least that one’s over with now).
    and i find it ironic as someone who tends to prefer making more complicated designs for their own ocs, but I refuse to touch complex outfits/skins from other people. I don’t know why.

    i’ve noticed that pmc can be a little slow sometimes. slow, as in, either not many people are online and looking through their feeds, or slow in that the site is actually bugging out and it just takes you to the “this site is under maintenance” page or whatever it says.
    but that’s just my experience/what I’ve seen. it could also be possible that some people just don’t know what to comment on the wall posts that show up in their feed and might only like it instead (or vice-versa).

    anyway, yeah i honestly relate to this post, but I’ve only been slow because my hands have been throbbing the past few days and i keep falling asleep in the middle of the night (that and ive also been watching a show with my parents so weve been spending our nights doing that)

    Slowest SF night in a while. First I started late, then I found it really hard to pick a good OC to attack for the bounty board, then that attack took quite a while to do even one I'd selected the OC, and then I wasn't able to complete my next attack against a certain individual, so in the end, I was only able to upload two skins tonight.

    Tomorrow should be a very different story. Emphasis on "should".

    You gotta start the post with a hook or keep it really short so people wanna read, and you gotta make it seem more like a question- I really thought the last one was supposed to be rhetorical, my bad- people just won’t respond to everything though unfortunately, even when you ask them to.. I think most of the time people kind of answer in their heads, or don’t put much thought into wall posts unless it’s a meme or something

    When I want to switch up my shading i try adding in extra shades to my normal shading and playing around with colours, and also figuring out what I like about other people's shading and seeing if I can learn from them!

    i think I’ve picked the “a” option on the attack form more times than I’ve picked “b” the past few days because my shading just looks like it’s deteriorating (and fast) and looks like absolutely nothing special

    To put into perspective just how badly AuDHD can break you sometimes:

    I originally planned to upload last night's attacks to Skindex this morning, maybe around 10am or so. Doing so takes a few minutes, and I had all the files and descriptions ready to go.

    It's now almost 4pm, and I still haven't uploaded them.
