You gotta do it when the weather's nice. I went on a hiking trail right after it rained sometime last month or so. The weather was a little cold, but wasn't insanely freezing, you also gotta keep in mind of how hot it is, you need to go when the weather's right in between :)

i’ve done to many hikes and whenever i do the weather is horrible and it’s always overnight somewhere so it’s super long

One of the points made when teachjing the teaching of science is that the amount of new vocabulary required of teh students approaches that of learning a new language. The idea being that the vocabulary cannot be expected to 'just happen'.

My first chemistry cource (9th grade) actually had spelling tests covering the names of [​most of] the elements.
Unfortunately, this sort of factual drill is no longer considered an effective use of time by many 'teaching' protocols.

One thing you can do on your own is flashcards [small physical cards with (in this case) a word on one side and the definition on the other].
Aside from the review one gets in making the cards (repurposed bits of manila folders work well), one then carrries tha deck and reviews during spare moments (e.g waiting for calss to start, waiting for the bus, etc.).

Pardon for the [​possibly unnecessary] explanation, but far too many of the younger set don't seem to have previously heard of the concept.

i always end up putting little definition reminders in my notes when i need them

(also,, if you ever need any help you can ask me /gen,, i dont mind & im p sure ive covered the content your doing in class already last year since im in my final year where its complicated)
