This horse is a chestnut paint horse with medicine hat markings. Medicine hat refers to a specific marking set where the ears and the top of the head are covered in color while most of the body is white! Large splashes of color are allowed on the body, but that horse has to be primarily white for the title. It was believed that these horses could protect their riders from injury or death. While that isn't true, they are quite the sight to look at!
