I like the infected eye. It might blend in a bunch in the wart forest (for better or for worse). If you want to try something different to compare you could try to incorporate a purple colour like the bark on the hyphae.

I might also consider switching the colors on the infected eye, since it looks to me like both eyes go the same way (even though the side-eye is pretty funny ngl)

They weren't intended to both go the same way (the dark bits of the eyes are both on the outside and the lighter on the inside). But duely noted. Integrating the hyphae is good idea; maybe I could have the legs partially transformed

The intended eyes makes sense. For me it appears reversed due to the vibrance/saturation combo but that may be different for you.
