Metamorph (from Metamorphosis) – a Minecraft mod which allow you to morph into mobs.

Most of vanilla mob morphs have their abilities (preconfigured), meanwhile most of modded morphs only grant you appearance and some attributes like health, unless configured. Morphs can be disabled and configured. See mod's wiki for more information.

Heavily inspired by iChun's Morph mod and zacuke's Shape Shifter Z mod, and works only with Forge for Minecraft 1.10.2, 1.11.2 and 1.12.

Install
Install Minecraft Forge, download the latest stable version of jar file for available minecraft version. Put it in minecraft's mods folder, and launch the game.

After that, Metamorph mod should be installed and will appear in Minecraft's mods menu. If Metamorph didn't appear in the mods menu, then something went wrong.

How to play
To morph into other creatures, you must to acquire a morph first. To acquire a morph, you have to kill a mob, then a ghost of a mob will appear (that's a morph), and when you'll pick it up, you'll acquire a morph.

Once you have at least one morph, you're able to transform into that morph. Use [ and ] keys for advancing through the list of morphs. There are also ' and \ keys for switching between morph variants (you'll see up and down arrows in the selection box if there are morph variants available). Use enter key for transforming into selected morph. To demorph, you scroll left until you focus character with your skin, and then press enter to demorph. Or you can press demorph key (which is . by default).

You retain your morphs even after death (although you can disable retaining of morphs after death in mod options). In creative mode, you can select almost any available morph via Creative Morph Menu which can be opened by pressing B key in the game.

Survival Morph Menu can also be focused, for managing purposes, by pressing N key (default). There you can favorite, remove and filter morphs by favorites. You use the same keys to navigate morphs ([, ], ' and \).

About morphs
Every morph you equip or apply grant you different look, size, and health capacity. Except those properties, every morph also has special abilities, attack and action.

Abilities give special properties to morphs. Chicken morph will slowly fall and get no fall damage. Spider and CaveSpider morphs will be able to climb on the wall. Bat morph will be able to fly and has a night vision.

Attack is an effect which is applied onto attacked entity. For example, if you hit some entity while being in CaveSpider morph, your target will gain poison potion effect. If you'll hit an entity while being in VillagerGolem morph, you'll throw your target high in the air.

Action is a special ability that is triggered by action key (which is V by default). Examples: in Rabbit morph, you'll jump high; in Creeper morph, you'll explode like a creeper, and so on.

This is a patch update has no aim altogether. It's just has few fixes and lots of nice features being added like an ability to morph into players (and have their skins) and blocks, more mob actions and etc.

  • Added block morphs
  • Added players morphs
  • Added command /metamorph which can be used for reloading morph blacklist and settings
  • Added configurable morphing animation
  • Added morph builder GUI to creative morph menu
    • player builder – allows to create a player morph based on player's username
    • nbt builder – allows to create a morph based on NBT data

  • Add more vanilla morph features which resembles their vanilla mobs
    • shulker – freeze on a place, and with action key fires anti-gravity missiles
    • llama – spits on action key
    • silverfish – can hide in a block when action key

is there a way to do this on xbox I was told in a vid that you need to install a mod onto your computer then on xbox one you can go to behavior packs and you'll see the mod but I've tried that with a mod on the Minecraft page and I went to behavior packs and it wasn't there.

Idk who told you this, but it is total BS. This mod is for Java version of the game only.
ehhh, alright I'm confused on the aternos site it says it's version 3.3.2 but here it says 1.1.4 are there to separate things? one's for a server the other one more for Singleplayer or what exactly does that mean?

I hope I don't bother or annoy you by asking that.
Also... if aetherII comes out for 1.12.2.... would you include that? Just asking I don't want to put pressure on you. Take your time! I know how hard programming is, and you are doing it for free basically. I of course appreciate what you're doing, just asking because my friends and I wanted to maybe make a new little project and for that we wanted to inform us a bit about the mods.

Oh, looks like I forgot to update this page. The latest version is 1.1.5, actually.
I'm not explicitly supporting other mods (unless it breaks something I care about). You could always configure the mob abilities and other stats. See the wiki.

It's impossible programmatically to determine mob's abilities. Although you could manually configure mobs' abilities. Check out this document.
Is there anyway to change the health configuration for mobs because I feel like 4 health hearts for a wolf is not very accurate and for big creatures they should be able to take as much a hit (maybe more!!) as a player can... just my opinion And wolves should have an ability like calling in on their pack and such ETC.

It's written in description:
In creative mode, you can select almost any available morph via Creative Morph Menu which can be opened by pressing B key in the game.
...
Survival Morph Menu can also be focused, for managing purposes, by pressing N key (default).
You should clarify: you need to click the button that says Download: Curse Forge
Also, you should add a secondary ability key. That would be nice for mobs with multiple abilities, such as the ender dragon can breathe acid and shoot ender fire balls. Also, what would be neat is in the build morph section, you could have a build mode that is a list of abilities that you toggle on or off/enter numerical values in.
Also, when you explode as a creeper, it would be nice to respawn within 100 blocks, with all your stuff. (Or, if spawn is within 100 blocks, spawn)

plz make it so endermen teleport randomly (a button) vex can fly thought stuff wither can fly silver fish can come out of block with a button and less lag i love the mod i now its hard to mod and i will always love the mod no matter what keep up the good work
this Mod is awesome but there's a big problem on other mobs like wither boss and vex is not flying and also the the wither boss is not shooting the wither skull and the vex doesn't on no-clip mode A.K.A WTW and also the ender dragon is killing me when i enter survival and also if you are a Silverfish when i hit >V< the Hostile mob will hurt me and also the zombie doesn't burn at all and the skeleton and also the when i turn into squid the tentacles isn't moving and the if i turn into guardian in survival mode its make me damage like a squid and if u are non hostile mob like pigs and other non hostile mobs exept to the villager the zombies is and other hostile mob is attacking and the last one is if i turn into slime the hostile mobs is keep attacking even i am a slime not like other hostile mobs.......Hope you Reply :D

You know, saying beforehand "the mod is awesome", and then listing a long list of its downsides totally destroys the purpose of the first statement. The mod is not awesome anymore.
Not everything in my control, but I'll do what I can once I'll get back to updating Metamorph (not soon).
By the way, I wish people could structure their requests/issues with the mod in a grammar correct and clear way.

Help! When you morph into the dragon in survival the dragon attacks you. You can't be the dragon in survival because the dragon that you morph into somehow attacks and kills you.
how do you transform into modded creatures though?

Well, you kill them and acquire a morph. This feature is available since 1.1.

Hey, I'm playing the recommended version of forge for 1.12, and the latest version of Metamorph for 1.12, (1.1.3), and there's a few issues. First of all, when I morph into an undead mob and go into survival, they don't burn or take any damage, but still make the "hurt" sounds. Also, what happened to creepers and pigs holding items? That was charming D:

The first issue was reported over and over and over and over... I fixed, but haven't released the update yet.
The second issue is due to the fact that older versions (1.0.X) were using custom models that I made by hand for rendering morphs, meanwhile now, they use isolated entity instances to delegate rendering. It's a really tough dilemma, I must say: either sticking with custom models and support only vanilla mobs or using entity renderers while losing charm and control over rendering.

Thanks for the reply. I personally wouldn't mind if I could only play as vanilla mobs, but I know other people would like to morph into modded creatures. It sucks, but it's your mod, so you can make the decisions.

Oh, I haven't properly understood your question (because I thought it was more of statement, because of missing "?"). No, I'm not going to make a server with Metamorph, because I don't have time and money for managing a Minecraft modded server.

Hey, the mod is awesome, yet im having a little bad time when I morph, whenever i morph, if the mob's eyesight is different from mine, it keeps moving me up and down making it hard to play as any other mob :( I'm using more playermodels mod too, think that could be conflicting?

Yes, that's a conflict between MorePlayerModels and Metamorph. However, there's a config option (added in 1.1.2) that allows you to disable POV modification, which in turn fixes up and down jitter.

This is just awesome. I dont know how you made it, but the boss mechanics in other mods actually work! Continue like this and you will arrive so far. =) And is there any way to change what morphs enemies will attack? Because mobs still attack some mod morphs and the bat morph.

I don't know either, I just emulate mobs behavior based on it's update code, and I guess it works by itself pretty good.

I will make bat morph not attackable for hostile morphs, but I cannot make it for mobs from other mods that aren't derived from EntityMob class (basically this is a class from which most of hostile mobs are derived from). You can, however, make your morphs which you use/want hostile by modifying morphs.json file in config directory. See Wiki for more information :)

McHorseI, I love you mod, but it would be cool to have these things in the mod:
-An action for all mobs (Silverfish could hide in stoneblocks, Sheep can eat the grass, Cow can make a sound, chicken can maybe lay an egg or something like that, Irongolem could make a slam...) Maybe you could make a button that would turn on these kind of abbilities or something. Would be cool ;) (If you need Ideas I have tons of them)
-Coop with another mod like Thaumcraft if possible (and if it isn't to hard ;) )
-Some details like: 1. A abbility list. What can this mob do? 2.Irongolems do not tkae falldamage, Villager are scared of Zombies and should run away, Undead can be healed by an instand damage potion.

These are just some things that I would like to see in the mod. I know you are a busy man and working on something that might be more important but could you have the time to read some posts or make a poal if this or that feature should be added? Would be great! Hey, sorry for a quite late reply, I completely forgot to reply on this comment, sorry -_-

It takes some time to make all these actions, and sometimes this is quite boring. To be honest, I don't really want to work on Metamorph as a survival mod, you see I'm not Minecraft player, I make mods to make videos, and Metamorph is my mod which powers Blockbuster mod (my other mod) with custom models and morphs.

I can't work on 3 mods simultaneously, if there was someone who could help me with my mods, I would be more motivated to fix things and create new features. There so many issues with other mods that it makes me very discouraged.

Why do you drown on land when you are a guardian? I'm pretty sure only squids are supposed to do that.

Well, because Guardians looks like fishes, and AFAIK fishes are suffocating on the air (am I right?).
It's not meant to be a sarcastic comment. I just explained why I added this ability to Guardian (because Guardian is a fish, IMO).

OK, I just thought that the morphs would have abilities like those of the mob for a more authentic experience.
Can you make it so that the mobs match the resource pack that you are using? Also can you make the sheep morph dyable? Thanks!

I was somewhat disapointed when I realized you could become the ender dragon, only to be let down by the lack of ability to fly, breath fire, have 200 health, noclip/destroy every non-end block, etc.

I am playing on 1.11.2 with your mod added... bats do not fly, and chickens fall from great heights and die. Other than that...it looks great...
I am having the same issue. I really wanted to fly with the bat and teleport with enderman because they are my favorite but I cant in survival. I switched to creative and used that menu to pick enderman, and then teleport worked. I could also switch back to survival and teleport as long as I was still using the morph from the creative menu. However the second I used the survival menu to pick the enderman it stopped working again.

I also have another issue where I cant acquire cave spiders or skeleton horses. So this made me think I couldn't get variants but I got mini zombie so Idk what that is all about.

Im also on 1.11.2 btw.

They changed how mobs names are stored, thus resulting into big change in names between 1.10 and 1.11.

Have you updated from 1.10.2? If so, there are some problems with switching from 1.10.2 to 1.11.2. Or wait... could you confirm if the chicken gliding working if you will morph into chicken from creative morph menu?
