The Al Bahar Towers are a solution to the problems of building a glass high-rise in the unforgiving environment of Abu Dhabi, UAE. When temperatures reach 100+ degrees F, the skin on the sides of the towers shade the offices from the glaring sun and reduce the heat gain within the building, allowing the building to use significantly less energy. The skin is reactive to the sun's path and is controlled by a computer to give the optimum shading while still retaining a view. These towers were completed in June of 2012, and were designed by Aedas Architects. Due to the towers being identical, the schematic only has one of the two towers.
