Presenting the Newest Release from the Redstone Farm Series!

Straight from Turtle Bay!

Now in two sizes!

Fully Automatic Cactus Farm

The first release in the Redstone Farm series is a simple, but effective and fully automatic Cactus farm. This model features "single switch" control that enables or disables the collection stream. The cactus plants will continue to grow at it's normal rate, because, well, that's what cactus does! grow. But, you can enable or disable collection when you desire!

This machine was designed and built for use in Turtle Bay underground. When we brought it out in the light for this package, we decided to providem provide a model suitable for above ground use as well as deep underground.

There are three versions of the farm: one is a eight level machine, next is a four level machine, and the third is a single level unit. The download package contains the schematic files (.schem) featuring all three versions of the Automatic Cactus Farm. In addition, we have included schematic files for each individual element levels : a base level unit, a grow level unit, and a roof level unit.

In-game operation of the machine is very simple. There is a switch on a redstone lamp in the center of the the south face (front) of the machine. This switch controls the collection of cactus. That's it! Collect cactus or don't, all the control you need!

Installation:
Download and extract all the files from the .zip file. You should see two subfolders: "FarmCactus", and "schematics". The Cactus folder contains the world map and the other folder contains the schematic files for installation into your own world.

World Map Installation:

Copy the "FarmCactus" folder to the world save folder for either your server or single player client. If you wish to install it on a single player client: type "%appdata%\.minecraft\saves\" into the address bar on your windows file browser and press enter. Next copy the "FarmCactus" folder here...

Schematic File Installation:

In the schematics folder, there are total of 12 .schem files, four for the large models and four for the smaller models:

Large Models:
Farm_Cactus_1Lvl_41EWx15NSx14h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_4Lvl_41EWx15NSx29h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_8Lvl_41EWx15NSx49h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_Base_41EWx15NSx6h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_GrowLevel_41EWx15NSx5h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_Roof_41EWx15NSx3h_NWCrnr.schem.

Small Models:
Farm_Cactus_1Lvl_25EWx15NSx14h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_4Lvl_25EWx15NSx29h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_8Lvl_25EWx15NSx49h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_Base_25EWx15NSx6h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_GrowLevel_25EWx15NSx5h_NWCrnr.schem,
Farm_Cactus_Roof_25EWx15NSx3h_NWCrnr.schem.

The schematic files can be installed several different ways. Please refer to the instructions from your favorite app for specific instructions, but generally, copy the schematic files to the appropriate plugin folder. This version was created on the TurtleBay server using WorldEdit, so that is what is described here.

First locate and open your server's world save directory. Next, open your plugin folder (<server_root)\<yourworld>\plugins\WorldEdit\schematics\ and copy the ".schem' files to this folder.

In-Game Installation (WorldEdit):

Pre-Built models:
Once the .schem files have been installed:
1) log into the game and ensure you have permissions to use WorldEdit.
2) stand in theNorthwest corner of area you want the model installed, the model requires a minimum foot print of 20 blocks east-west and 8 blocks north-south.
3) type //schem load Farm_Cactus_1Lvl_41EWx15NSx14h_NWCrnr (for the single-level farm), //schem load Farm_Cactus_4Lvl_41EWx15NSx29h_NWCrnr (4-level farm), or //schem load Farm_Cactus_8Lvl_41EWx15NSx49h_NWCrnr.schem (for the 8-level farm)
4) type //paste to complete the installation.

Custom build using stackable Individual Levels:
Once the .schem files have been installed:
1) log into the game and ensure you have permissions to use WorldEdit,
2) stand in the Northwest corner of area you want the model installed, the model requires a minimum foot print of 20 blocks east-west and 8 blocks north-south,
3) type //schem load Farm_Cactus_Base_41EWx15NSx6h_NWCrnr to load the base unit,
4) type //paste to complete the installation of the base unit,
5) stand in the Northwest corner of the Base unit (you can remove the fence post if you need to),
6) type //schem load Farm_Cactus_GrowLevel_41EWx15NSx5h_NWCrnr to load the next level,
7) type //paste to complete the installation of the first grow level,

At this point, you can continue to add grow levels or place the roof.

If you want to add more levels:
8) stand in the Northwest corner of the floor of last level you installed (you can remove the fence post if you need to),
9) repeat steps 6 and 7 from above until you have as any levels as you want.

To add a roof:
10) stand in the Northwest corner of the floor of last level you installed (you can remove the fence post if you need to),
11) type //schem load Farm_Cactus_Roof_41EWx15NSx3h_NWCrnr to load the next level,
12) type //paste to complete the installation of the roof level.

The above instructions show the large model. To use the smaller models, just substitue the '41EWx15NS" versions with the "25EWx15NS" versions.

That's it, your done!

Update #1 : by DiggerMcGee 03/10/2024 2:36:43 pmMar 10th

We just added six more schematics to the package and updated the world download. You now have two sizes of farm - Large and Small. The large size is 41 blocks east-to-west and 15 blocks north-to-south. The small model is only 25 blocks from east-to-west but still 15 blocks north-to-south.

Yep, because it can be done.

Also, it is half of the input to my XP furnace array ...
