Presenting the Latest Release from the new Redstone Farm Series!

Fully Automatic Sugarcane and Bamboo Farms

The latest release from the Redstone Farm series is another two-for-one! Included are the simple, but effective and fully automatic Sugarcane and Bamboo Farms. These models feature "single switch" control system that enables or disables all levels, including the minecart collections system! It also features the ability to disable any individual level!

These machines were designed and built for use in Turtle Bay underground. Therefore, we weren't too concerned about visible redstone. In the future, we may provide a suitable building to hide the redstone for above ground use.

There are three versions of both farms: one is a seven level machine, next is a three level machine, and the third is a single level unit. The download package contains the schematic files (.schem) featuring all three versions of both the Sugarcane and Bamboo Farms, for a total of six models!

In-game operation of the machine is very simple. There is a switch on a redstone lamp in the center of the the southeast corner of the front of the machine. This switch controls the production and collection of Sugarcane or Bamboo. There is another switch in the center of the front (south) side of the model at each level. This one controls production and collection for that level.

Both farms are identical except for what is planted in them. You can mix and match crops in a single model, or have separate units...

Future updates may include a redesigned power ladder for the automation, an integration example application, and a sample enclosure for above ground use.

How to Install the Sugarcane and Bamboo Farms in your world...
Download and extract all the files from the .zip file. You should see a ReadMe.txt file and three subfolders: FarmSugarcaneBamboo, schematics, and structure. The FarmSugarcaneBamboo folder contains the world map. For installation into your own world, the schematics folder contains the schematic files, and the structures folder contains the .nbt files needed for the structure block methods.

There are two ways to use this model in your own world. You can install using a structure block or a schematic file. Keep in mind, the schematic file method does not copy entities and is quirky when placing rails, so you will need to repair the rail orientations and add minecarts on each level. The structure block can be used to do this for you. However, stucture blocks do NOT have an undo method, so make sure of where you want to place it before you commit. you decide which method is best for you. The structure block can be installed on your standalone single player client or any multiplayer server without any mods required.

World Map Installation:
Copy the entire "FarmSugarcaneBamboo" folder to the world save folder for either your server or single player client. If you wish to install it on a single player client: type "%appdata%\.minecraft\saves\" into the address bar on your windows file browser and press enter. Next copy the "FarmSugarcaneBamboo" folder here...

Schematic File Installation:
Keep in mind, the schematic file method does not copy entities, so to get all the minecarts, use the .nbt file method, also.

In the schematics folder, there are six .schem files:

farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx8h-nwcrnr.schem; single level farm,
farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx20h-nwcrnr.schem; 3-level farm,
farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx44h-nwcrnr.schem; 7-level farm.
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx8h-nwcrnr.schem; single level farm,
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx20h-nwcrnr.schem; 3-level farm,
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx44h-nwcrnr.schem; 7-level farm.

The schematic files can be installed several different ways. Please refer to the instructions from your favorite app or plugin for specific instructions, but, generally, copy the schematic files to the appropriate plugin folder. This version was created on the TurtleBay server using WorldEdit, so that is what is described here.

First locate and open your server's world save directory. Next, open your plugin folder (<server_root)\<yourworld>\plugins\WorldEdit\schematics\ and copy all of the ".schem' files to this folder.

Structure Block Installation:

in the structures folder are six .nbt files:

farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx8h-nwcrnr.nbt; single level farm,
farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx20h-nwcrnr.nbt; 3-level farm,
farm_bamboo_24ewx8nsx44h-nwcrnr.nbt; 7-level farm.
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx8h-nwcrnr.nbt; single level farm,
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx20h-nwcrnr.nbt; 3-level farm,
farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx44h-nwcrnr.nbt; 7-level farm.

Single Player Client:
Open the Windows File Explorer and type the following into the address bar: %APPDATA%\.minecraft\saves and press enter. Next, open the desired world save folder. Then open the \generated\minecraft\structures\ folder. Copy the .nbt file to here.

Multiplayer Server:
Locate and open the world save directory where you want to install the model. Next, open the desired world save folder. Then open the \generated\minecraft\structures\ folder and copy the .nbt file to here.

When you are done, check that the .nbt files have been copied to correct folder.

In-Game Schematic Installation (WorldEdit):
Once the .schem file has been installed,
1) log into the game and ensure you have permissions to use WorldEdit.
2) stand in the center of the Northwest corner of area you want the model installed, the model requires a minimum foot print of 24 blocks east-west and 8 blocks north-south.
3) type //schem load farm_sugarcane_24ewx8nsx8h-nwcrnr (for the single-level farm), or //schem load <Name of model>,

In-Game Installation (Structure Block):
1) log into the game and select creative mode. If you are on a server, you may also need OP permissions.
2) Go to the northwest corner of the plot you want to install the model. you will need an area at least 19 blocks east/west by 8 blocks north/south at ground level to install and whatever hiegth clearance for our selection.
3) Place a structure block in the ground directly below your feet.
4) right click the structure block and make sure the button in the lower left is set to 'Load', next;

  b. click only once and then click Done to preview an outline of where the model will be installed.
  c. verify that the outline coincides with where you want the model installed.
6) Once you are satisfied with the location, select the structure block again, and make sure the button in the lower left is set to 'Load', next
a.) Ensure that Include entities is set to to 'off'.and click 'Load' on the lower RIGHT part of the screen. the model should load.
b.) verify that the rails are all placed correctly. If rails are still incorrect, repeat step 6.a.) until they are correct.
c.) Once the rails are all oriented correcty, reopen the structure block and set Include Entities to 'ON',
d.) click 'Load' on the lower RIGHT part of the screen.
  e.) click 'Done',
f.) verify that the hopper minecarts are placed and test the controls...
7) After all this, you can either leave the structure block in place and cover it with carpet, or delete it and replace with another solid block.

Yeah, sorry. I've only ever used the java version. I suppose I should try to build some of these in bedrock too.
