The design of this arena is based on relatively modular and temporary structures. It is composed of two major construction elements: The actual arena, comprising of the stands and the pool, and the glass canopy that hangs above. While it is recessed into the ground, most of the building's components are to look as if they are temporary, with the intention for them to be removed after the games. The design itself is very symmetrical, and is based on two contours: the arches that support the canopy, and the curved structure that supports the stands.
The reason for designing a water polo arena is that i ran into a problem with my original Aquatic Centre's design when transferring it to Murata. The original Water Polo Arena was, at its lowest point, 64 blocks below ground. As Murata only has 26 blocks of ground to work with, i had to delete the original water polo arena for it to work, and thus had to design a new venue. Due to its original tie to the Aquatic Centre, it does retain a little of the design language from it, from the color usage to some of the structural elements. The actual pool and the judging area as well as the wall treatment was taken from the original Water Polo Arena, and the canopy arches' design was inspired by the main structure of the Aquatic Centre. Everything else took some reference from the other stadiums currently in my Olympic Village. This is my fifth Olympic venue.
