Why is it that a build like this recieved 5 diamonds from judges?

Maybe because the judges actually liked the penthouse? It was simple and modern. I like simple and modern. Maybe the judges do too.
I CANT GET THE MAP ON? HELP ME

Hey are you allowed to edit the quartz to change the windows layout or is that not allowed. plus if i want to put a balcony but within the quartz but remove the quartz surrounding it.

Are we allowed to upload this to a server to use WorldEdit, as long as we are still the only ones who break/place blocks?

Lol.
Are the first three pictures of my entry ok or are they breaking the rules? The actual map has all the frame still intact, I only removed it for those photos for cutaway shots.

Best Project Contest so far, I have entered it! I like the idea of no OP build teams and using default texturepack.

I want some hidden lights, can I delete some quartz and replace it with lights, seeing as if this was real, the lights could be in the same block as the item hiding them, it would be in the ceiling, a penthouse IS at the top, so maybe.... I can edit the top a bit, for lights, because you wouldn't SEE the change ;3

You'd get DQ'd for that.
You are not allowed to. If you did what you said it would be the ceiling for you but the light would also shine out of the roof of the building.

Well, I guess it less about the actual way a building is put together than it would be... lets say contest boundys, I think thats what your gettin at, and I understand in which case! thanks for the info!
Are we allowed to modify to skeleton (quartz frame) so it will match where our windows would be? (keeping the dimensions of the skeleton the same)

And is it possible to remove the skeleton after we finished building?

And are we also allowed to use world edit?

To be honest, I don't really understand what everyone's complaining about. It's a contest, contests wouldn't be fun if they weren't a bit tricky. This competition is about creating the inside of a penthouse (adding floors, changing walls, being creative in the way you create furniture, etc.). You probably understand that if you're going to set up an apartment in real life it wouldn't really work to remove the wall on the outside just because you want a bigger window. Nor would you be able to move your door to another location just because you "didn't like it being there", so stop complaining. It's a contestIt's meant to be a bit tricky. If everyone would be able to build the penthouse itself and then decorate it, the focus of the contest would no longer be decorating.

I don't know. People hate change. To be fair, it's a vocal minority. I've gotten maybe five people total who are "disappointed" in this contest. I get where they are coming from, but we are trying something new and have to tread carefully so that it doesn't fall apart like kinetic sand.

Can we use WorldEdit? Also, can the whole building being in the space? By that I mean can I delete the original base and create a new one?

Yes, yes technically as long as you have the quartz and air still there.

Intentional. It's a plot contest. Plots are empty.
Lets do this!
Are we allowed to delete the original build but leave the surrounding frame to have a sort of outline area and then build up an entire building around that with the pentouse suite on the top?

You'd be wasting a lot of time. This is an interior contest.
Whose idea was it to set the frame up as if the building was going to be 5 block walls with only 2 stories. Converting the windows to match with 3 block walls with 3 stories is going to suck now.

That was Lente's idea. It's meant to be big enough to allow for more floors if the builder wants to.

Are we allowed to change one or two blocks on the exterior? As in, if our windows have been moved slightly, and they don't match up with the exterior skeleton?
This is kinda annoying xD

As much as I appreciate the idea of a solo contest, I must say I'm a bit put off by the spatial restriction. I can see why said restrictions are there in this case, but is that going to be the norm for solo contests?

It's meant to be a 2 week long contest. We will find the perfect size, through trial and error, for 2 weeks for an average builder to finish their build giving them enough time to go over it with a fine-toothed comb. We don't want this to just be another Project Contest, this has to be set apart somehow.
Let's sse if I can build and finish this time!
