This is my entry for the PMC Contest: Head into the Clouds

Video courtesy of Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunter. This was from their series MegaCraft, hosted by Matt and Trevor

Project Sanctuary was humanity's many efforts to survive the aftermath of the rift. When rifts first started to appear in the world, like in the Nether, it caused similar electrical disturbances. Initially it began as low level electromagnetic interference, primarily affecting electronics. But as the months went on, the effects became stronger. Powerful electric fields around the rifts would pulse, causing iron deposits in the earth to be thrown into the atmosphere. Project Sanctuary was proposed as a fortified habitat that could be insulated from the effects of the electromagnetic pulses, and protect its inhabitants. The only problem was with a world beginning to shatter, there was a limited amount of space that these Sanctuaries could hold. Every major city built as many as they could. Lotteries were held to choose who could stay. When the rift let out a final burst of energy, it destroyed 95% of the existing landmass, causing mass flooding on the remaining 5%. Some of the landmass thrown into the sky held together enough, and some of the Sanctuary towers survived.

A Sanctuary tower had every necessity that a small settlement could need, with a maximum capacity of about 3000 people. Once things seemed to settle, they began to disassemble the roof, and begin building the agriculture tower. This ensured the Sanctuary would always have food and building supplies. All rooms are furnished with basic necessities.

Currently, what is completed is the Sanctuary tower, three partially destroyed bridges, twelve buildings of what remains of the city, and two highways. This is going to be the final major update for the contest. Until the contest ends (on the 30th), i will be searching my entry for mistakes. If you find something that isn't working, let me know, and i will tend to it immediately.

Lastly, I am hosting a Speed Build Contest. Have a look at it and if you are interested, you should enter.

Added a second destroyed highway, added five more buildings, and another destroyed bridge. This should be the final major update before the contest closes. The project is at 95% complete to say that i will be dealing with minor mistakes and issues for the next couple of days that may be in the project. Let me know if you find any mistakes.

This is amazing, you are so talanted to make that first building in mc, I have no doubt you have the potential to be an amazing architect. Also you managed to build this alone, where almost all of the other high up contest entries were made with teams!

Thank you for the compliments, it's really encouraging to hear. I'm really surprised at how well mine did considering the competition I was facing. Even some of the other solo projects were pretty amazing, but I was clearly outclassed by the team effort that won. It was an incredible build

I really love this modern post-apocalyptic build, very creative concept. Congratulations with 6th place. In my opinion it should be higher (fantasy, steampunk etc. meh), I can't wait for more contests with your entries!

Based on building quality and difficulty, i understand why fantasy and steampunk builds are marked so high. They are difficult to build and put in the necessary details. It's in that where their complexity arises. I'm glad the one that won did, it was a spectacular project, and with a team of 13 incredible builders, it easily outclassed mine by a long shot. I appreciate the compliments though, it's really encouraging to hear, especially with this being my first official PMC contest. And if i can come up with a decent idea for the next one, i may consider entering again.

Yes, that's true, fantasy and steampunk need time and details. Sometimes I think, that people who are making this stuff more think and do about the background than the building itself for instance in To The Stars Project Contest.
