Introduction
Hello there! Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure to present you my brand-new map, The Valley of Laindôr!
This map was created with great passion and love, and after a period of inactivity, I wanted to share it with you. The map itself was inspired by Tolkien's work and the natural beauty of our own world. I would also consider it to be experimental because of the modified world height of 512 blocks! This was possible because of WorldPainter's custom world height settings.
This map is also my main entry for Adventure Jam hosted by PsioPsia001.
DISCLAIMER: To achieve custom world height, Minecraft needs certain data packs. I was able to use this map thanks to Fabric. In my case, everything worked fine when I installed the following mods - Fabric API, BCLib, Sodium and Iris (versions for Minecraft 1.19.3 or above). If you know some other way to access the map, let me know in the comments.
Description of Laindôr
The Valley of Laindôr is an isolated valley hidden between the Encircling Mountains. It is a wild and fertile region of unmatchable beauty filled with different plants and various forests scattered across the Valley. Through its centre flows the river Gabilân which forms in the northern portion of the land, just under the mountain Ortanim and its great cliffs. Gabilân represents the core of the Valley, it is the source of life for all living beings of this land.
There are different types of forests that cover these lands. There are dense woods of giant pine and spruce trees in the lowlands, deciduous forests covering the hills, and taiga forests covering the steep foothills. They may offer shade during the hot days or provide shelter during the storms, but be careful - during the night they become a place of great peril.
Going from lowlands to midlands, every traveler will meet tranquil billowy hills rolling down from high mountains. Those hills may provide great amounts of important materials without a need to stride to dangerous lofty peaks or to go under the earth's surface. They may also give you a high ground and a good viewpoint for observing your surroundings, especially the hill of Dol Feredir, one of the most renowned landmarks of Laindôr, located in the northwestern midlands.
The Encircling Mountains of Laindôr truly are a sight to behold. They are the natural barrier that can be divided into three main parts. The first part is the eastern mountain wall whose most notable feature is the Eastern Mountain Crown where Orod Anor can be found. The second part represents the northern mountain chain where the mountain Ortanim is settled. To the west lies the western mountain wall with its famous Western Mountain Crown which consists of the three most notable peaks in the whole realm - Aranrass, Berethrass and Orod Ithil.
Under the earth's surface hides the magnificent realm of caves. There are various underground formations widely spread in different parts of Laindôr. There are many peaceful lush caves, many dripstone caves famous for their vast pillars, ancient gargantuan caverns, and even flooded amethyst caves. At the roots of all mountains lie many dark caverns plagued by the sculk. Be extremely cautious while traveling down there! There are older and fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world...
Map Information
The foundation of The Valley of Laindôr was created in World Machine. I created the main heightmap and the following assets using various nodes and terrain adjustments. If you want to learn more about the program and how to use it, you can check the link listed down below that will lead you to their official site.
Although Laindôr contains every type of ore and a vast number of materials and biomes, I would not recommend it for survival mode since it has no vanilla structures (you can always go beyond the map border to the regular Minecraft world).

Final notes
This work wouldn't be possible without useful information from the WorldPainter subreddit. Although I would consider myself to be quite knowledgeable in the ways of map-making, there is still enough room for improvement. The Valley of Laindôr (as well as my other maps) is far from perfect and I would be glad to hear your thoughts and critiques on it. I'm still learning how to use World Machine and WorldPainter properly so any suggestions are welcome.
I hope you like it. Enjoy!

Here's a heightmap of The Valley of Laindôr if someone wants it.

The rest of my work was done in WorldPainter. I refined the heightmap, added different types of terrain and materials, and implemented various layers (vegetation, caves, frost, rivers...). There are some issues (as always), but overall I think it ended up looking pretty good.landscape
