I present to you fine folks the Water Hammer! So the Water Hammer was something I have been mulling around for a while then decided to build a few days ago. The Water Hammer is a combination of many different types of ships. The ship takes elements of the ancient greek triremes, mid-1800 to early-1900 steamship designs, Galleon type hull designs and a bit of creative flare to amalgamate all of these principles into one ship!
First and foremost, this is a warship. Armed with 44 heavy broadside guns and two long-range, dual-mounted howitzer turrets, this ship is a testimate to power. The hull is cheifly made of wood, but at places is 3 meters thick! Perhaps the main attraction however, is what lies beneath the surface.... the ram. Made of the highest quality steel, this ram not only has sleek lines for high cruising speeds, but also is reinforced and pointed to punch gaping holes into enemy ships!
Not only is the War Hammer propelled by a large array of canvas sails, it is also propelled by two powerful steam engines. Both engines each have 4 massive cylinders each and are powered by two boilers. The engine dellvers the power to two drive shafts which run a fair length of the ship to two outboard screw propellers. When needed, the engines can work in conjunction to the sails in order to accelerate to ramming speed or retreat if necessary.
I tried to build a ship that was unique as to what I have seen and built already. As a person who likes to dable in learning history, this ship brings some of the many awesome aspects from naval/sea design throughout periods of time and is by far my favorite ship I've built thus far. I hope all of you good people who view it enjoy it as well! Let me know what you think :)
Note: Please use Halcyon Days resource pack for this ship! I specifically tailored the ship's design to take advantage of this resource pack, so it will more likely than not look ugly in other resource packs!
