SERVER SETTING

The year is 48AD, and under Emperor Claudius, the Roman Empire is the dominant power in the Mediterranean, master of northern Africa, Greece and much of western Europe, with the conquest of Britannia well under way.

With reports of another strange land west of the continent, and an opportunity to further the glory of Rome, the Emperor charged its exploration and pacification to a new legion specially raised for the task: Legio III Claudia. By ship they sailed, through the Mediterranean, the strait of Gibraltar and into the unknown. Land eventually spotted, they had arrived at this mysterious land. Jumping from their ships, they found its resources plentiful and ripe for the taking. It was an odd land, however, with many climates and creatures.

Was it possible that other civilisations had found this place? Were they alone? The answer soon became clear that they were not, with reports of strange bodies moving through the night... Slowly it seemed to emerge: the dead were here, and they had little love for the living.

SERVER MISSION

Taking on the mantle from Stugace, this server aims to fuse minecraft and history, to provide a fun way for people to learn about Rome, particularly its military and architecture. It provides all the fun of minecraft, from exploring to collecting resources, whilst roleplaying as Romans. Alternatively, players may want to play the Gauls, which this server aims to show were more sophisticated than commonly thought.

Though this server aims to be original, much is inspired by the work of Stugace (there are only so many things you can do with minecraft, after all). Veterans of the Romecraft servers are welcome, but this server is not designed, nor tailored, for them.
