Zilla's Modded is an old fashioned modded server with many of the greatest mods from 1.7.10
  • Throw spears like a caveman, swing a katana like a ninja, or shoot a boomstick like a revolutionary.
  • Collect resources through farming and mining, machining and automation, or exploring and looting.
  • Travel the world by horseback, on a rail by train, or in the air with a blimp.
Zilla's Modded lets you get creative in your survival ;]

Modpack Installation

Download: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/zillas-pack

You can import and run the modpack with CurseForge launcher, Prism launcher, GDLauncher, or ATlauncher (ATlauncher is preferred). Other launchers aren't guaranteed to work.

On first launch:
  1. Click the button that says "Download Optifine" and download it.
  2. Click the button that says "Open Mods Folder" and put Optifine in your mods folder.
  3. Quit and restart the game for the changes to take effect.
(Optifine unfortunately couldn't be included in the pack due to licensing restrictions, this is why you must download and install it separately)

  • Large roguelike dungeons and fortresses! With tougher mobs and better loot at deeper levels!

  • Many new building blocks! New brick types, new variants for many existing blocks, and some entirely new materials and blocks.
  • Furniture for interior decoration! Make your bases look nice and comfy :]

  • Old nostalgic Minecraft atmosphere! (and all the creepiness that comes with it ;] )
  • Dedicated server! There is a dedicated server already in the server list, so you can join and play with friends!
Gameplay Tips
  • 'G' opens the crafting guide, and clicking "Set item" in the crafting guide allows you to search for items to craft.
  • 'B' opens your Battlegear inventory.
  • 'R' toggles Battlegear mode (allows you to dual wield weapons).

  • Fixed the bug with planks crafting blocks of a different wood type(?)
  • Disabled refined iron recipe (steel is used instead, so it was useless)
  • Replaced Not Enough IDs with Endless IDs
  • Removed Think Big Core (no mods used it)
  • Updated some mods as much as was possible (Greg, please fix your damn "Tech"!!!)
  • Added Default Options so that player's options are not overwritten when updating the pack
  • Made the default keybinds better; far less conflicting keybinds and useless keybinds removed
  • Removed ingots that are supposed to be inaccessible from dungeon loot
  • Disabled HodgePodge's recursive block update limit because it seemed to stall the game completely when generating too many chunks
  • Added Default World Generator mod and set Biomes O' Plenty as the default world generator
Zilla's Pack is now compatible with RPLE for colored lighting, but does not have it by default. If you want to try out colored lighting, disable HardcoreDarkness and add RPLE.

I self host, but not the normal way. I use a free service called playit.gg, which is a reverse proxy. It basically allows me to port forward the server without port forwarding my own router or giving away my own IP.

Zilla's Modded runs on a tiny single board computer called a Raspberry Pi (8 GB of RAM, CPU overclocked to 2.3 GHz). Zilla's Chaotic runs on a small form-factor refurbished school computer.

I'm actually pretty surprised by the positive feedback to this server. I had no idea a single player ever joined this server from PlanetMC until I saw your comment, but there's now 2 comments expressing interest, and a ton of views.

This question may sound grim (eheheh), but when you say "don't let the server die", does that mean that it was somewhat active at some point? I genuinely had no idea if it was active unfortunately, I only ever saw the playercount when it was at 0.

I stopped advertising this server so much recently, because I remade this modpack + server for 1.12.2. And I expected that server to surpass this one in playercount (which wouldn't have been a huge feat), but for some reason that one seems far less interesting to the people here, as it has no comments and rarely gets viewed.

But hey, feels nice to know someone appreciates my silly little modpack :]
The 1.12.2 remake runs worse and definitely couldn't handle as many players. So maybe I should advertise this original one more, people seem to like it better anyway.

Let me answer your questions in order

1- From my knowledge, no, sadly I don't think anyone other than me played,
though maybe they played when I wasn't around

2- I see a trend in the minecraft community, more and more people are starting to despise Mojang,
and people want to go back to older minecraft for various reasons, wether its because they love the simplicity,
the innocence of pre "Microsoftiification" of minecraft, or just a silent protest to modern minecraft and its chat reporting ways.

3- Personally, if you want me to be honest, I prefer the older version, because of its charm, and for the reasons stated above,
in my opinion others might start feeling the same. The trend of people playing older versions of minecraft has existed a long time, but I think ever since 1.12.2 , it has been growing rapidly.

in conclusion, dont give up hope brother! I see a future where the default version of minecraft is pre 1.8 !
