Level 63 : High Grandmaster Goblin
The Classic Alternative resource pack is a blast from the past that revives most of the old sounds and textures.

I have also changed the textures of more recent features in the game to make them consistent with the older aesthetic. For example, I have added black borders around all of the new foods and crops, made all doors resemble the classic oak door, pig villagers, sheep illagers, lapis-like nether quartz, and much more.

My ultimate vision for this pack is to make the modern versions of Minecraft feel like a continuation of Beta, as if it were some kind of alternate reality where Beta never ended. For those who desire something a bit... older... the neon variation of the pack includes the brightly-colored grass from the classic-thru-alpha days. For the most authentic beta/alpha experience, play with smooth lighting turned off, and moody lighting <3.

Anybody can take any asset from my pack. The classic, returning textures aren't my own to begin with, however if you use one of my custom textures (such as the doors or the iron golem) I would like to be credited. Keep an eye out on this page (or subscribe to my profile) for any updates to the pack.

Hi this is a rlly gr8 resource pack but I have some feedback. I think you should change that brick/plank background you got goin back to the dirt background and allow textures such as glass to connect when using Optifine.

I was browsing through the textures and found something quite curious...
On enchanted_item_glint.png is a message in SGA saying something along the lines of:

"This item is enchanted... Half-Life 3 will never come... If it does I will be very quite pleased..."

Did you put this in as an easter egg or was this a legitimate texture used at one point?

I've not found any documentation about this online, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was an official texture in the past.

when I click on a bed, it says "You can sleep only at night and during thunderstorms" in this pack. but it changed in 1.16. it should say "You can sleep only at night or during thunderstorms" in this resource pack

Suggestion: Change various text strings to their older versions. (For example, quite a few things were capitalized as part of 20w30a. i.e. "You died!" is now "You Died!") There are many other examples, however.

Is there any news on updating the texture pack for 1.16.2? The update was very minor (mainly focused on bug fixes) however mobs like the piglin brute were added which I understand need texturing. I'm a huge fan of the pack and I'd love to use it in 1.16.2 soon :)

Weird story but heart warming, My grandfather played Minecraft in the early days, But I found out he hasnt played Minecraft for a couple years, So I showed him the new textures. He hates the new textures. I asked him if he would play it, His response: "No, Its just not the same I'm used to". So I decided I would sneak into his house while hes asleep and install this resource pack. I showed him it and showed him the Classic Alternative textures. He was so happy. Apperently hes never heard of modding or resource packs. But I just wanted to thank monsterfart77 for making my grumpy grandfather smile again. Hes been playing Minecraft everyday lately.

I am so dissapointed with the new 1.16 changes, or lack of them. i was so excited to see what shroomlight and basalt would be changed to to look more retro and then i turn on the pack and nothings changed with them.

you can make your own pack that adds this, and put it on top of this one, thats how i for example made all ores have borders because not only it improves visibility, but i also like how that looks. as on how to get sounds inot a resource pack, just google it

This is one of my favorite packs, and I'm glad you're working on it again! A few things I've noticed though, first the accessibility icon has the white highlight now, so it should be pretty easy to re-add the old blue highlight for that. Second, the netherite sword has a lighter texture than the rest of the netherite things, is that intentional? Because it looks a tad strange to me.

You took my suggestion! Big thanks there (wo?)man! Also huge thanks for releasing the pack for 1.16!! Great job, you're awesome!! ((long text warning, sorry I have a problem))

As a die-hard lover of this pack, I have to point out a place where I believe you've missed the mark for the pack's sake.
It's about the Piglins. Or how I call them, Pigmen. It's kind of inconsistent by the pack's rules (which go as far as renaming Sugar Cane back to Reeds and Gunpowder back to Sulphur) to not rename Piglins to Pigmen and Zombified Piglins to Zombie Pigmen. The modified lang file in the pack is in there exactly for those use cases, or so do I believe.
Now I don't know if this is something outside of your expertise (dealing with models), and by no means do I intend to disrespect the effort you put into your own versions of the textures, but as another user pointed out, Optifine 1.16.1 previews are out, and they allow custom models, so logically since this pack already has Optifine features the old Zombie Pigman model and texture should be fully restored (not forgetting the downward-facing arms).
And by building upon the principles of the pack, of changing the new to be based on the old, Pigmen (Piglins) should also be based on the old Zombie Pigman model and in my opinion they should wear the same loincloth as Zombie Pigmen, not full clothing, properly adapting to the standards set before their introduction. I'm not sure if I'm reaching now but what it looks like is happening to me is that you've somewhat liked the new Piglin changes (or I'm bs'ing now lol) and that bias is stopping you from reverting them properly and making the pack consistent. I might be completely wrong but I'm saying this just in case.
If you don't wanna start form scratch (again) you could reach out and ask permission to shmoobalizer who made the "Developer Art+" pack (or I could reach out to him instead if that's asking too much), he has a Piglin texture in his Classic Addon that's exactly how I described (sans the narrower head as it was made pre-1.16 Optifine), it looks really good and he doesn't use it anymore since he replaced it with a another one that has full clothing. I suggested he added that version back but I'm not sure he will. If he gives you permission but can't provide it because he deleted it I have a copy I use, so you can get it from me.
Oh, and if you agree with this take but not enough to demote your own textures you could always just make a "Pigman Addon" with these ideas I mentioned.
This is all obviously my opinion. Everything is obviously entirely up to you. You've made clear you're willing to listen to criticism and suggestions so I'm just shooting my shot. If I don't make sense or come off as disrespectful I'm sorry. I just really love this pack, dude(tte?).

This has been fixed in 1.16, currently testing if it's an issue in 1.15 as well. If it is, I will have a fix for that soon.
