OptiFine Is Required For This Pack To Work!

Enhanced Mobs is a resource pack aimed at improving the quality of Minecraft's entity models and textures while trying to keep a balance between realism and the Minecraft feel. This pack also adds (and will continue to add in future updates) lots of randomized skins for each mob.


I am currently working on updating this resource pack to 1.15.2, and as I do so I will be doing a full rework of most of my models and textures to provide consistent quality and feel to the pack overall. If you have any suggestions for what you would like to see improved please let me know and I will consider your suggestion! As I make progress I will try and update my followers on Twitter so if you want to follow it's development be sure to check me out there! Thank you for your patience as I continue to provide updates for this resource pack!


Here is a list of the mobs that have an updated model and textures:

The next update will be themed the "Aqua-Pillage Update", and will enhance the following:
Cod / Salmon / Tropical Fish / Pufferfish / Panda / Fox / Ravager / Phantom / Wandering Trader / Trader Llama / Guardian / Elder Guardian

If for any reason you want to remove certain mobs from your copy of the resource pack,
all you need to do is delete the textures and models for those specific mobs in the resource pack. This can be done by searching "%appdata%" on your computer, then going to '.minecraft/resourcepacks/Enhanced Mobs 1.3/assets/minecraft/'. From there, the textures can be found in 'textures/entity' and 'optifine/mob' folders, and the models can be found in the 'optifine/cem' folder. As for the models, all you have to do is delete the .jem files. Leave the .jpm files alone, because sometimes they are related to other mobs and you might break something.

I'm playing with 1.15.2 so the wolves look all blocky and weird. Just some minor feedback. I do like all the animal models. Villagers in my version are missing stuff and where are their noses? Work on the hostile mobs, please. The creepers look awful, I would say keep them the way they are in vanilla but add your own personal touch. Skeleton okay. The spiders make my skin crawl but I love them don't change them. Zombies are good. Just change the ghast to default but again add your own touch. you're on the right track but just make those minor tweaks.

This resource pack is not out for 1.15.2 yet because OptiFine's custom entities feature is not finished, which is why a lot of my models are buggy with that version. I am working on overhauling the resource pack by changing a lot of the models and skins to look better and to respond to feedback I've gotten, so thanks for voicing your concerns! Once OptiFine has fixed its issues with entity models I will be able to continue updating the pack.

really really cool but i have had 2 problems. a) come on man. the zombies SUCK. you can do better

dude the animals are insanely great, but the hostile mobs look so awful, you kinda broke the illagers and villagers by removing their nose, the creeper its soooooo strange, the spider its awesome, but lets talk about that zombies men, they look so bad, i believe you can do better, the enderman looks nice, but i think you should make some better design to the ghast's face, it does look so cute, as we know, ghasts are horrible, the worst creature in nether, men your work is so awesome, but there is some things that i know you can do better, in my opinion the worst thing was removing the green color from the creeper, i didnt like it/// sorry about my english im a not fluent brazilian, whatever, good luck in your project buddy!!!

Thanks, dude! While I am updating the Enhanced Mobs to 1.15 I am going to be reworking a lot of my models and textures to a higher and equal standard, so thank you for your constructive criticism! I will definitely be trying again on a lot of the hostile mobs to make sure they are of the best quality and consistent with the rest of my resource pack.
One of the things I am doing is including more species variants for my animals depending on the biome(ex. Bison not cows in Plains, Zebra not horses in Savannas) and boar is a good idea! I'll add it to the list.

Unfortunately that isn't possible. On the Java version, there is now way to change the models of entities, which the entire premise of this resource pack, so OptiFine will always be necessary. If someday Mojang adds the ability to change entity models to Vanilla be assured I will make the switch, but for now there isn't anything I can do about that.

I know that; I mean to line up the layout of your textures with that of vanilla minecraft. That way, someone could have the pack equipped without optifine and it would just look like vanilla. Alternatively, change the name of your texture files so that without the custom model the textures are ignored.

Ah, I see what you mean. Nevertheless, most of my models are not the same shapes/hold the same purpose as MC's original boxes and their UV Mapping, so changing where or how my textures are lined up won't fix how broken the pack looks without OptiFine. I also cannot just change the names of my files so they won't interrupt vanilla MC because OptiFine's random textures and biome-specific textures rely on those same names so the pack would lose a lot of its functionality. The best way to deal with this is to just take off the resource pack when you can't play with OptiFine. Trust me, I know what I am doing, and there is no real/easy way around this I'm afraid.

Yes I have the textures in the pack but I hadn't done anything with them, it was just an oversight. I will get that fixed in a smaller bugfix update later this month hopefully.

Hi sorry if this is mean or anything but i dont really like the humanoid versions of the villagers/illagers/witches. Is there a way to turn the models off in any way? But other than that i love the pack!

Hi! I didn't expect everyone to love those changes, so it's fine you aren't a fan. To get rid of those mobs from the pack, all you need to do is delete the textures and models for those specific mobs in the resource pack. This can be done by searching "%appdata%" on your computer, then going to .minecraft/resourcepacks/Enhanced Mobs 1.3/assets/minecraft/. I really love this pack even though the villagers always catches me off guard but the Alex versions of the zombie type mobs don't show up for me

Thanks! Enhancing the villager was difficult because I didn't want to stray too far from its original form. I gave them humanoid arms because it logically makes sense that they would need to use them, but I also didn't want it to look too much like the player, so I kept a bit of the nose and their fat bodies.

Tengo planes para los mobs y golems jefes, aunque no estoy seguro de cuánto tiempo pasará antes de trabajar en ellos.
En cuanto a las turbas guardianas, Optifine todavía no me deja cambiar los modelos, por lo que tendrán que esperar.

Unfortunately, the shoulder parrot is a part of the player model, which cannot be modified sadly. The developer of Optifine has talked about making it a possibility, but it very unlikely that will happen in the near future, sorry.

So I recently got this resource pack recently and for some reason certain mobs don't have any variety. For example the cows only have one model. I am running in 1.14.4 and the newest version of Optifine.

A lot of my mobs have biome-specific skins, including cows. Have you tried spawning them in other biomes to get different skins?

Hello, I've been having the same problem.

I've tried spawning biome-specific mobs in various biomes, but some of the mobs (cows, chickens, wolves) are only spawning with one (the default) texture. I've tried spawning in creative as well as survival with cheats enabled, with no luck.

Also, I have tried deleting some mob .properties files as you had suggested below for more randomization with the same result. All the same textures (cats and parrots seem to be working just fine).

Thanks! For whatever reason, Optifine doesn't support the elder guardian model just yet, and I don't want to update one without the other, so that is why those haven't received and 'upgrade' yet, hope you understand! ... Yes, I love it too!
