Chat - Typing Consecutively Long Enough To Be Idle
I am not entirely sure whether this is how it's triggered, but... a user called Peytonyaboi was, earlier today, taking long enough to type their message that it set them to being "Last seen 9 minutes ago" while still typing the message in question. It's a truly impressive time to take on writing a 20 word message (as it turned out to be) which can stand among some of the slowest typing speeds out there, but because of that it seems to have uncovered something I wouldn't really ever expect to see or even consider normally.
I don't think this is an important bug by any means and I could even be mistaken about the activation requirement (but the user was listed as typing the whole time and sent their message just after the screenshots I'll provide, which removed the away tag after they sent it, implying typing wasn't being picked up on). There's a very high chance this may never be seen again as the typing speed it takes is almost unique (or they deleted many words there) and yet the dedication to not stop typing even once is also almost unattainable for such slow paced typists, so it's a very unimportant bug, but- yeah I've mentioned it anyway, another bug mention just for the sake of it, just in case.
...I don't think this one will help but- yeah I guess it's better to be aware than not to be? Not sure. I seriously don't think this one's useful but just in case it will be it's here. ...anyone can feel free to let me know if this report's just wasting people's time though as it's, uh, yeah not important.
The chat box appears to be infinite, if they left something on their keyboard it will infinitely display the typing indicator. The AFK indicator is AFAIK solely dependent on the time since your last non-whispered chat message. If they left a book on their keyboard and walked away this would happen.
This happens to someone in chat every once in awhile
The AFK indicator also goes away when you begin typing, while the typing indicator disappears if you stop typing. I know of both of those so this shouldn't occur the way it did but it is indeed infinite.
It's true that when a user starts typing the AFK indicator is disabled, but that does not necessarily mean that the indicator is disabled if someone continues to type
Yep. :) Which is why I assumed that was an unintended result of it and made this bug report, since if it's disabled when someone types it clearly isn't meant to say they're AFK when typing.
