Yeah of course, I won't do it again in the future, sadly I realized it too late.
I'm aware about the SEO, indeed 404 links maybe bad for the "global" website referencing.
For the authors themselves though, it would have been better to have a dynamic URL that always match their contents. It is basically removing and creating a new content, but without loosing all views/downloads from the old one when we think about it.
But I understand it may be a mess to deal with the current system, a redirection to the content list or the author's page links on dead links may be a solution, but then it would require to think and develop other features based on this single request... A whole project that won't probably be worth it.
If you don't mind changing URLs, may I ask you to change my few messy ones?
I will maybe open a ticket/DM you directly, since the request is more a private one.
Allow users to edit the URL of their contents
For example if I name my datapack "Super Foo Blocks - Villagers sell Foo things ! (for 1.18+)" the final URL will be "www.planetminecraft.com/data-pack/super-foo-blocks-villagers-sell-foo-things-for-1-18"
If after that, I update my data pack to be compatible with 1.19+ versions, and replace the villagers trading way with a crafting system, my data pack title would theoretically be outdated. And I would want to rename it into "Super Foo Blocks - Craft Foo Things (for 1.19+).
But unfortunately, even if I do that, the URL would remain "super-foo-blocks-villagers-sell-foo-things-for-1-18".
I wasn't aware about that in the past when I uploaded my first contents (and didn't really care about URLs). But nowadays, I have plenty of outdated URLs that show wrong terms / versions, because I unawarely added them in the title, or even changed the data pack's name meanwhile. Unfortunately, it is really confusing for people I share my datapacks links with.
For sure, I'm not the only one who fell into the trap.
Silabear gently accepted to change one of my pack's URL a few day ago, but I don't want to bother moderators/admins with such requests for all my content in the future. It would be nice if we were allowed to change it directly!
