Updating the Search & Adding Systems for Creators

One of the most important things on PMC is the creators for PMC as like YouTube it wouldn't exist without creators publishing and sharing their work for the internet to enjoy. I think that PMC and it's Staff team has done a great job in cultivating a great site, with a good community but I do think there are features that would help creators and viewers of content.

#1: Finding Creators Easier + Bring back Membership Leaderboards

As it stands finding creators pretty much only consists of looking through the content submissions. Now that should be the main way to get discovered but the fact membership leaderboards have been "Disabled" for years has saddened me because finding the top creators on the platform is much harder. Also please bring back membership leaderboards that would be extremely helpful.


There is no way to search for a user on the platform, you have to use google to find someone and that's if you know they exist and already have an account and know the name of the said account.

Currently unless you're a very popular account, searching up the name in the search bar for their PMC account ends up resulting unrelated search results. I suggest adjusting this to provide a top bar of potential "Creators" similar to YouTube's system where if you search "Horace Creations" It will actually come up with mine or others profiles.

This is a mock up example of a "Potential" look of what I mean.

The second thing is that often when looking at "Suggested Members for X" I often find creators who aren't even map creators and instead are skin, modding or texturing creators. This is more of a bug but clearly something that could be fixed.

I would love to see a "Top map creators", "Top skin creators" etc. etc. I think visually this could be similar This where the very top could have a small bar with suggested users for maps but allowing you to "view more creators" making it easier again to find top and popular creators in the map and other sections instead of being limited to 5 suggested creators who often aren't in their correct section. This would help people find high quality map creators who publish regularly and have good standing with the community.

#2: Reworked Search Bar

PMC has been extremely good too many of us creators but something I think that is simply out of date is it's search system. It is nearly useless and something I've found to be extremely frustrating in the past. Trying to find anything is nearly impossible. As a creator this is less important but as a viewer of content the ability to search and find what you're looking for is extremely important.

As it stands if I search up something, the top results are maps that were made well over a decade ago. Now can you filter and find more recent things, yes but that is a lot of extra work. Ask yourself this, if you had to use the filter system every time you searched something on google or YouTube would you still use that product?

Changing the first page results to be based on views and other interactions such as Diamonds & Fav's plus making sure recent upload/updates would be more relevant and put near the top.

I think changing this would allow for people to find content that they enjoy faster, easier and make recent creators more accessible and discoverable.
