Today I will be writing a blog about Viruses, Spyware, PUP, Where did I get them??

This is a question most people ask themselves when they find out from an antivirus scan that they have multiple "threats detected"

First I would like to explain what viruses are and can be.
Viruses or Spyware can be programs disguised as "legitemit" programs but used for a different purpose such as monitoring, stealing data, passwords, or even encrypting files, or "helping you" "optimize" your pc. This is all a fraud! I have also heard of programs (From an IT store of where I work) that encrypt all your files and the only way to get them back is by paying them money! (Crazy) 
Other programs may also include fake antivirus programs that hijack your current antivirus and make it so that you cannot get rid of the file!

So, The BIG question!
Where did I get this virus?
Well, let's assume that you don't have any antivirus program installed, then you could have gotten it anywhere! 
For example, a "Free" game, that comes with bundled software that is sometimes known as PUP Potentially Unwanted Programs, like optimizer programs, Tech help programs etc. 
They try to trick the user into thinking it's real like activaiting an antivirus and then giving them your credit card! (BIG NO NO)
So one way to stop from getting these programs is, don't download a game that is paid for for free, it usually has bundled software that could be a virus, or the file itself is a virus!

Next, People could get viruses or spyware from browser extensions, like Search Conduit, or Search Protect, or Ask.com Toolbar or any Toolbar in general! 
What I recommend is not download any extra toolbars to your browser, even if they look cool! Because they can track your cookies, eg temperary internet files, and sometimes hack your passwords, and other bad things!

What happens if I already have a tool bar? Well you can reset your browser! Just Google: How to reset your browser for (Chrome, FireFox, IE) or any one that you have!

Okay so I have a virus what do I do now? PANNNNNIIICCC??!??

No don't panic... YET. 
Viruses can be dangerous and harmful to your computer, there are a couple of ways of doing this.
First, go to your local computer store, (Not Future shop or best BUy) because they pay way too much and rip you off by not doing the best job (I've heard). So instead go to your computer store and research the name to make sure it is not a scam and then bring it in to let them check!

If you don't want to that and want to save money, you can do it yourself and be and IT Person :P
So What to do?
Well, first, you can start by downloading Malwarebytes, https://www.malwarebytes.org/ A Free program that is mainly meant for scanning and does a good job at it. Scan it and see if it has any viruses if it does, do what it recommends at the end!
Next, If you find your computer is still slow, you can Download Super Anti Spyware, http://www.superantispyware.com AND scan the computer! It usually asks if you want to remove certain programs that it detects as a virus, do so!

When done your computer should be fixed! HOORAY!
One last thing you can do (if you think your advanced) is go to my computer, press alt, go to tools,  then folder options, and then go to the View tab, and show hidden files!
Then go to your C Drive, the main one, and go to Users, Click on your user name, and then go to App Data, Local, then the Temp folder! This is the folder that saves all your cookies files in! Press Ctrl+A and then Delete them all, (It's not bad but don't do it if you feel like it's not worth it). Some may not be deleted but that is okay!

So congratulations! Your computer is fixed!
