NOTE: If you want the 1.20.3-4 version, or the 1.20.2 and below version, both are available from the link below
The Fletching Table has been in the game for years, but has never had a function. The possibilities are there for some really cool things.
Although it's not possible to bring function to the block in Vanilla Minecraft, we can still come up with ideas for it.

In this data pack I decided to bring some of my hypothetical ideas to the game, as always with the goal of keeping things vanilla friendly.
This is my attempt at answering "If the Fletching Table were to work, what kind of things could you do with it?"
Additionally, I wanted to bring some more usage to items that we usually look over, since they are generally unused and not useful.

  • NORMAL ARROWS now have a more expanded recipe, allowing you to make arrows if you don't have Flint and Feathers.
  • NEW ARROWS have been added, allowing for some unique combat potential. They each have special abilities that activate on a fully charged shot. They are compatible with bows and crossbows alike, becoming even more powerful with Multishot and other enchantments

Added Arrows
FIRE ARROW:
-Has the flame enchantment built in.
-A fully charged shot will set the block it hits on fire, destroying the arrow.

SHATTERING ARROW:
-Deals less damage.
-A fully charged shot will scatter sharp fragments of amethyst to deal damage to mobs in a small block radius.

HEAVY ARROW:
-Deals more damage.
-Punches through transparent plants, such as grass, flowers, saplings, mushrooms, vines, and crops.
-A fully charged shot will bamboo and cobwebs, but also small wooden blocks, such as buttons, pressure plates, banners, and signs.

ECHO ARROW:
-Higher rarity
-Does not break on impact, even if charged.
-A fully charged shot that hits a mob will echo some of the damage dealt as health back to the shooter.

COMBINED ARROWS:
-Echo + Fire send health back over time instead of instantly.
-Heavy + Fire creates a larger area of fire.

And that's it! Let me know what you think and any suggestions for the pack in the comments!

Item components! v2.2 : by AuraAcorn 04/27/2024 11:03:01 pmApr 27th

This is yet another version that is updated for a new version of Minecraft, this time because of the new Item component system introduced in 1.20.5.
This should be the last update this data pack gets now, unless I change or add things.
No more knowledge books, yay!
On that note, I added back bone and kelp back into crafting, just because why not. The rest of the removed things are still not there.
I also tweaked the names of things, and made the fire echo arrow heal faster.

The pack is updated to 1.20.3, which changes many commands, so it won't work with any version below.

I aim to keep my data packs vanilla friendly and decently realistic. Those ideas are great, but they're very fantasy oriented compared to what I do, and would work better in a magic arrow data pack.

I didn't add it here, but I have an upcoming data pack that I'll include piercing for regular bows. I might add it later to this one if I decide to.
