    Soul Orbs is a data pack that adds an item to capture mobs and release them back anywhere you want.
    Captured mobs will display the information about them on the item, hidden information included.
    It also adds many advancements that rewards the player with various items and experience.


    Installation
    1) Choose your world in game > Edit > Open World Folder
    2) Open datapacks folder in the opened window.
    3) Put the downloaded data pack file (soul-orbs-v1-13_1-20-4.zip) into this folder.
    4) Join the world and run /reload command.
    5) Enjoy!

    • Current version is for Minecraft 1.20.4 . For previous versions, see Older Versions section below.

    • It is recommended to use the data pack with the attached resource pack. The data pack will still work without the resource pack. However, the items added by the data pack will look different from what it is supposed to.


    How to obtain Soul Orb (Version 1.11 and above)
    Soul Orb is available from wandering traders with 100% chance and limited to 5 orbs per trader by default.
    (Trade appear chance and max buy amount can be configured.)

    How to obtain Soul Orb (Version 1.10 and below)
    1) Place down 5 redstone blocks as shown as in the video below.
    2) Put water at the center of the blocks.
    3) Throw an Eye of Ender into the water to convert into Soul Orb.

    How to use Soul Orb
    • Simply right click with an empty Soul Orb while looking at the mob you want to capture.
    • Right click again to release. Releasing a mob will break the orb by default.

    • If you can't capture a mob because of right click interaction, step back few blocks and try again. Orb capture distance is farther than player reach range.

    Operator Commands and etc.
    • Should the item break after releasing the mob?: (Value 1= Yes, Value 0= No) (Defaults to 1)
    /scoreboard players set %soulorb_breaks soulorb_temp     <value>

    • What is the maximum trade limit per wandering trader? (Value is the amount of max trades.) (Defaults to 5)
    /scoreboard players set %soulorb_max_trades soulorb_temp <value>

    • What is the appearing chance of the trade? (Defaults to 100%, Value 1.0)
    Open data/soulorb/predicates/trader_chance.json file with a text editor and adjust the value.


    Uninstallation
    To uninstall the data pack properly, run this command (Version 1.8+):
    /function soulorb:uninstall

    Soul Orbs won't work after uninstalling the data pack.

    history
    I miss being able to use Soul Orbs in v1.21+. Any plans or schedule for updating? I'm using a fabric mod now that uses bucketing to move mobs and another to move villagers but I prefer the glass orbs esthetic.

    The data pack requires a full re-write due to major changes in Minecraft 1.21 update. I just don't have the motivation to do it right now. It will probably take a few days to finish it fully and that keeps me away from this one. I will consider updating when I have actual free time.

    for some reason i cant obtain it either with commands or real way although am in 1.21 and i putin the 1.20.4 version is that the reason?

    Just copy the command you want and replace <value> section with the value you want.
    For example, this command will make soul orbs not break after releasing the captured mob:

    /scoreboard players set %soulorb_breaks soulorb_temp 0

    Don't forget that you need to either have cheats enabled on your world or operator permissions in a server to run a command.

    When i trade with the wandering trader it only offers air with the ender eye and 20 emeralds trade

    I am aware of that bug and I couldn't figure out why it happens. It seems to happen rarely.
    However, I will not try to fix it.

    New version of the game now allows custom items in recipes. Soul Orb will have its own recipe in future updates.

    can you obtain the soul orbs with commands? if not could you update it so you can obtain them with commands.

    You can use the /loot command to put it anywhere you want. If you want to just give it to a player, use /loot give <player name> loot soulorb:soul_orb.

    bonsoir petit souci je suis sur un serveur 1.20.1 j'ai obtenue la soul orbs, je peux capturer un mob mes pas le relâcher. pourriez vous m'aider
