    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

First of all I would like to give a huge shout-out to WileyKitKat for making this awesome and wonderful, beautiful fan art of me.

I love the whole heroic Viking look she gave me. It's definitely probably what I would have wore if I was of was crime fighting during that time period, although there have been versions of me that have existed in both the Middle Ages and the Victorian age, so I would not be surprised if there was a Viking version of me as well. I also really love how the battle axe or scepter she gave me also has my iconic symbol.

She like me, is a fellow Magical Girl fan, and I have worked with many of them on my heroic exploits.

Secondly last weekend when performing my duties as a good citizen and volunteering at my Island Library, on the cart of donations and free giveaways I found a really cool two disc Special Edition DVD of my FAVORITE movie made about me "Batman Returns" (1992)!

This two disc Special Edition set not only features the movie remastered in BEAUTIFUL crystal clear HD with surround sound, so you can REALLY hear the sounds of explosions, gunshots and the ROAR of the Batmobile engine, but it even features an audio commentary by director Tim Burton (my FAVORITE movie director) and the ORIGINAL theatrical trailer which has also been remastered! This is probably as close as you can get to experiencing it in movie theater quality in both picture and sound!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this is not just a great Batman movie, but it's also a REALLY great Tim Burton movie (Although it's really to choose between the two "Batman" (1989) which was also directed by Tim Burton or this one, even though part of me loves this one a little more, hence why I call it my favorite, but I love them both equally.)

Disc Two has a whole Bat-load (see what I did there? πŸ˜‚) of special features including several documentaries and featurettes which talk about the making of the film with interviews with the cast, director Tim Burton, and the crew, and has EVERYTHING you'd want to know about the movie including the costumes, the sets, the designs, the music, hero and villain profiles, basically EVERY detail you'd want to know about the movie and the making of it is on this DVD!

All in all this is a real treat for any Bat-fan, and the fact that I found this on the giveaway cart? My FAVORITE Batman movie? For free? What more could I ask? Definitely a worthy addition to someone who loves to collect physical media and DVDs and Blu-rays.

This set gets a 10/10 from me!

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡

WileyKitKat's AMAZING fan art of me.

Yeah, sadly this was the second and last Batman movie Tim Burton did in his duology, the first one being Batman (1989). Fortunately though there was a Batman '89 comic book series that was based off of what Tim Burton"s third Batman movie was supposed to be. There's even another series that was based off of a potential fourth one. They even bought back the original screenwriter Sam Hamm. There's even new novels that are set between the two movies now.

Also yes, I LOVE the piece! πŸ™‚

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

So remember when I got an adapter cord for my PlayStation 2 with some of my birthday money?

(See this post for context) :

    www.planetminecraft.com/member/merbatphan89/wall/post/1062317/

Well today I got it hooked up, booted up the PS2, suited up and played "Batman Forever: The Arcade Game" for the PS1, and with a little help from Robin, I saved Gotham City from the clutches of Two-Face and the Riddler!

This was definitely a FUN game to replay to celebrate the movie's 30th Anniversary (which was last year) and of course to remember the passing of actor Val Kilmer, who played Batman in the film.

    (See this post for context:)

    https://www.planetminecraft.com/member/merbatphan89/wall/post/930688/

All in all this was something I was glad to be able to do, and a fun way to relive the movie "Batman Forever."

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡

And just for fun, here's some of my favorite Val Kilmer quotes as Batman from the movie "Batman Forever" (RIP to him πŸ˜”πŸ•ŠοΈπŸŒΉ)
Note I have a few lines from other characters here as well.

Alfred: Can I persuade you to take a sandwich with you sir?

    "I'll get drive-through."

"You called me up here to tell me this? The Bat-signal is not a beeper"

    "Bats aren't rodents Dr. Meridian."

"I'm sorry Edward, then my answer is no. Controlling brain waves? Mind manipulation? It just raises too many questions."

"If Bruce Wayne could have given his life to save your family, he WOULD have."

    "Mr. E-Nygma. Edward Nygma."

"Have all the Bat-suits been destroyed Alfred?"

Alfred: All except the one with Sonar modifications, but you haven't tested it yet.

    "Tonight's a good night."

"Wait. I have a riddle for YOU. I see without seeing. To me darkness is as bright as daylight. What am I?"

Riddler: Please, you're as blind as a BAT!

    "Exactly."

"What's the matter Harvey? You're always of TWO minds about everything."

And my personal favorite, which is on my profile page:

"You see I'm both Bruce Wayne AND Batman. Not because I HAVE to be. Now because I CHOOSE to be."

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again,

I used some of my birthday money to order two more games for my Nintendo Switch as well as an adapter cord for my PlayStation 2 (PS2)

The games I got were "Touhou: New World" (shout-out to roxichu who I understand is a big Touhou Project fan, and who probably knows more than me πŸ˜‚) and "Forward to the Sky."

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again,

    Happy Valentine's Day!

I want to thank EVERYONE for all the birthday wishes yesterday!

I had a truly wonderful, blessed and GREAT day!

We had a party at my local pizza place, where we had pizza, DELICIOUS ice cream cake made by our local creamery, and I got to celebrate with my mom, my neighbors and another friend who made me a card and a really cool Batman necklace! My neighbors gave me a framed collection of Batman stamps, with a history of the character on the back (I'll definitely have to hang this up in my room in the Batcave). I also got some peanut butter cookies baked for me, and I apparently have a pair of Batman socks on the way too! And jall in all ust wonderful company, friends, family, laughter and celebration! Some other people at the restaurant wished me a happy birthday to me too, and some other friends surprised us and showed up!

It truly was a wonderful night!

I've posted pictures down below of the cool presents I got!

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡

Really cool Batman necklace that a dear friend made for me:

    Batman stamp collection:

With a history of the character on the back!

My other gifts I got at home!

I got Pokemon the Series Sun and Moon: Ultra Legends the third and FINAL season of the Pokemon Sun and Moon series, The Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Movies 1st, 2nd A's, and the third and fourth movies "Reflection" and "Detonation" (I heard that the movies were WAY better at telling the story than the show, and are in their own separate continuity which is why I got them) A dark fantasy anime series called "Uta Kata", The Phantom of the Opera the Original Vienna German Cast album CD, with one of the BEST Phantoms I've heard since Michael Crawford, another dark fantasy anime series called "Princess Tutu" inspired by Swan Lake, the Nutcracker and other fairy tales, and the Nintendo Switch games "Afterimage" and "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove" which not only looks cool and interesting, but also because of the fact that the villainess the Enchantress looks an awful lot and reminds me of Maleficent! (😍)

All in all, I got A LOT of cool stuff, movies and shows to watch, video games to play (I might order two more with some birthday money I got) and music to listen to!
    MerBatPhan89 β€’ 2026-02-27 22:51:15

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again,

It's just one more day til a certain very special day for me.

Yesterday I FINALLY finished "The Snow Queen" anime from 2005! This series was so Breathtakingly GOOD!

What I really liked about this version is that they actually depicted the Snow Queen as good and benevolent, and not as a villainous vain icy sorceress who wants to freeze the world in eternal winter, as most depictions show her as. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy those depictions of her, as evil queens are my favorite type of villains, but it was nice to see a version of her that was good, even if she seemed a little cold, icy and mysterious at first. There was only one other version and adaptation I had seen that had depicted her in a similar light.

I also really loved how this was not only a BEAUTIFUL adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's story, but how it adapted some of Andersen's other fairy tales into the series as well like "The Little Mermaid," "The Little Match Girl" "The Red Shoes" and even some of his lesser known stories such as "She Was Good For Nothing." I think the idea of having Gerda, the main character encounter scenes, characters, and being a part of some of Andersen's other stories or being told these stories by other characters, as she makes her way to the Snow Queen's palace to save her friend Kai, was a brilliant idea, and it made all of these stories that Hans Christian Andersen wrote feel like they were all in one universe.

Another thing I want to praise is the BEAUTIFUL gorgeous animation in this series. Every episode had such high quality animation that it felt like I was watching a mini movie! I also want to praise the wonderful Japanese voice actors who really put their hearts and souls into their characters, yes I watched it with English Subtitles, and I also really want to praise the BEAUTIFUL music and gorgeous soundtrack! (More on that below)

This is definitely a good series to watch during the winter time or Christmas season, and I think I'm going to start a tradition now where I'm going to watch this every December, Winter, and Christmas. Lots of wonderful and emotional moments and episodes!

All in all my overall score for this series is a perfect 10/10!

Other great animated versions of "The Snow Queen" I'd recommend, next to this one which has become one of my new favorites, is the animated version from (1957) and the 2013 CG animated version. (I've still yet to watch the sequels.) Also give the original book and fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen a read too! I'd highly recommend it!

Now for the music in the show:

The show's main opening theme called "Snow Diamond" There's actually quite a few variants of this theme that plays, from the main opening version which is beautifully played on a violin.

    youtu.be/m1Ten1j63aU?si=qY6F0gzkHHZfPeko

Another softer piano version called Gerda's Prayer:

    https://youtu.be/URs9zLCIfNQ?si=icxUY9FlsxsE4NWS

And this beautiful orchestral version that plays when Gerda sets off on her journey to find Kay:

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAUxLe5GZrw

Another song I love is the song "White and Blue" which is actually a song sung by the Snow Queen herself. According to the show's lore, if you see the Snow Queen arriving dressed in white in a beautiful white carriage that appears in the sky with the Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights) you can hear her singing this song as she brings winter and snow throughout the lands of the world.

    https://youtu.be/Yx4O7EEQkhY?si=CBs1jxyBrt80O6zJ

And there's this version of it which is turned into a full song. Both this and the vocal versions were sung by the Japanese actress that voiced the Snow Queen, Mayo Suzukaze. I like this video because it actually shows pictures from the show:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUSaZxCT3FY

Have you read the "Snow Queen" seen any of the adaptations or read any of Hans Christian Andersen's other fairy tales? (he's one of my favorite authors) Please let me know!

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡

    Hey everyone,

This is Batman wanting to wish you all a Happy New Year from me and everyone here in Gotham City!

I was wondering what your New Year's resolutions are?

Mine are To grow closer in my relationship with God, to be a better person than I was last year, to be the best version of myself possible, to continue to work on losing weight, to be more active on my Discord, and lastly if circumstances are right, go to Disney World one more time to meet Maleficent and get her autograph and a hug and give her a special painting I did of her.

And of course to continue my crime-fighting mission here in Gotham City!

Also, did you stay up and watch the ball drop? I accidentally fell asleep, but I woke up and watched it on the Bat-Phone, and then I went to bed.

Let's make 2026 the best year yet!

    Hey there everyone,

This is Batman wanting to wish you all a very Merry Christmas βœοΈπŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸŽβ›„β„οΈ from all of us here in Gotham City!

And to remember Jesus is the reason for the Season! πŸ™πŸ•ŠοΈβ›ͺ

I was wondering, what did YOU get for Christmas? I got the novel "Batman: Revolution" by John Jackson Miller, the SEQUEL to "Batman: Resurrection" both novels of which are set in between Tim Burton's two iconic Batman movies "Batman (1989)" and "Batman Returns" (1992) my FAVORITES!

I also got "Batman 89: Echoes" the sequel to the previous "Batman 89" comic series, which is based off of Burton's unmade Batman 3 movie. Echoes is essentially what a Batman 4 from Tim Burton could have been, and brings to life some ideas from unmade Batman movies from the 90s.

I got "The Chosen: Season 5" (I saw the finale of it on TV), the book "Sunset Boulevard: From Movie to Musical" by George Perry, with pictures from the original 1993 London Production with Patti LuPone, (who was a WAY better Norma Desmond than Glenn Close was. Glenn is a great movie star, but she's not a musical theater star or singer like Patti LuPone is, and Patti OUTSHINED Glenn in singing AND acting.)

For my Nintendo 3DS, I got the DS games "A Witch's Tale and"Witch's Wish" both of which looked cute and fun to play.

I got the ORIGINAL London Cast Album CD of "Les Miserables" with Colm Wilkinson, Roger Allum, Frances Rufelle, Michael Ball, Rebecca Caine and Patti LuPone (are you starting to see a pattern here yet?)

I also got the book "Bigfoot in Virginia" (which may or may not be my home state where I reside when I'm not in Gotham City, or fighting crime πŸ‘€)

Lastly I got a Disney Villains 2026 calendar and Disney Villains "Sorry" Board Game ( Maleficent 🀩😍πŸ₯°♥️!!!)

Also what are your plans for today? As for me, mom and I are just going to take it easy here at Wayne Manor, and have a friend come visit us later today!

Hope you all have a blessed and a very Merry one!

    God bless,

    That's all for now,

Noooooo! The Little Match Girl episode was so sad and emotional! 😭

For those of you wondering what I'm talking about, I watched Episode 19 of the Snow Queen anime series. Definitely one of Hans Christian Andersen's saddest stories.

Feel free to read the original fairy tale for yourself, but be warned: it IS a tearjerker.

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

I just completed ALL the Riddler's Revenge missions including ALL the combat (fighting) challenges and Predator (stealth) challenges as ALL the characters (Batman, Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing) in "Batman Arkham City" (my FAVORITE of the Arkham games) for the Xbox 360.

Feeling pretty proud of myself right now. 😊

Nice! I actually have Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham for Xbox 360. I've played it, but I got stuck in it. I also have Lego Batman 1 for the Nintendo Wii, but I got stuck in that too. πŸ˜‚

Yeah the Xbox 360 is pretty awesome. I've had mine for about 14 years now. Probably one of the only times I ever went shopping on a Black Friday. I got it so I could play Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. I also got the Kinect so I could play the Disneyland Adventures Game.

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

Well it is officially December 1st, which means it's time to pull out my Christmas movies, and to start watching the 2005 Snow Queen anime, adapted from the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale (and it adapts some of Andersen's other stories as well.)

Oh and mom and I decorated the tree today in our home in Wayne Manor.

There ARE angels on my Christmas Tree, as well as ornaments that hold precious memories such as things I made when I was little, some ornaments I got from Disney World (including ornaments of Maleficent (my FAVORITE ❀️) some ornaments I bought when mom and I got when we saw The Nutcracker, an ornament we got when we went to see Sarah Brightman's Christmas Symphony Concert, and SO many others!

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

I was volunteering at the library earlier today, and saw that they giving away free CDs, so I picked up a copy of Sarah Brightman's album "Symphony." This is actually one of my FAVORITE albums of hers. She really did a good job mixing her classical style with rock, which really gave the whole album a "Gothic" feel to it. I remember when this album first came out in 2007, and I first got this album for my 19th birthday. So yes, I do have a copy of this CD, but it never hurts to have an extra copy, especially if it's being given away for free!

The live concert she did of this in Vienna was one of my favorite live concerts by her, and I've watched the DVD of it many times.

You can read about my experience seeing the ORIGINAL Christine from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" at her Christmas Symphony Concert here:

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again.

I know this may be a day or two late but Happy Halloween πŸŽƒ πŸ‘» πŸ¦‡! Did you all do anything special? After doing my second weekly workout in the Batcave, on Halloween night Mom and I continued our movie marathon, after watching the first Addams Family movie from 1991, we watched the 1993 sequel "Addams Family Values."

Once again Anjelica Huston was absolutely beautiful, gorgeous, mysterious and funny as Morticia Addams. I really love the black shiny dress she wore. I actually saw the dress she wore from this at a museum exhibit had costumes from movies. It even had a little bit of red on it which I never would have noticed from watching the movie. Raul Julia once again was a ball of fun energy as Gomez. It's really sad that he would pass away from stomach cancer one year after this movie, and that this was his last film. Apparently he was really sick when filming this. I actually saw a documentary about him on PBS, and I had no idea that he was such a huge stage star. He played Dracula in a stage play production adapted from the novel, which I thought was really cool. Christopher Lloyd was once again great as Uncle Fester. I actually think it's pretty funny how both movies revolved around Uncle Fester and people who were the villains trying to steal the Addams Family's money and their fortune. The two movies were actually very similar. Which is fine because I still LOVE both movies and I always will. The Joel Schumacher Batman film duology was also very much like this.Christina Ricci was once again great as Wednesday and Jimmy Workman was great as Pugsley. The whole subplot about them being sent to summer camp was absolutely hilarious. πŸ˜‚ Carol Kane (another actress who's work I'm familiar with) did a really good job replacing and filling in for Judith Malina playing Grandma who played her in the first movie. Carel Struyken was once again great as Lurch and Christopher Hart did really good doing the hand motions and animations for Thing. Joan Cusack was a lot of fun as the evil nanny who married and tried to murder Uncle Fester for his money. The only other thing I've seen Joan Cusack in was a Muppets Christmas Special where she played a villain. Apparently she's the voice of Jessie in the Toy Story franchise too. I believe she played the judge in the "Lemony Snickett Series of Unfortunate Events" tv series too, which funny enough was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, who also directed this. She's the sister of actor John Cusack, who I know as the voice of Dimitri from the animated Anastasia movie from 1997 by Don Bluth. And yes, Cousin Itt does make appearances in this one too, and like the first movie it has that same dark humor and comedy you come to know and love from the Addams Family. Barry Sonnenfeld once again returns with solid direction adding a nice Gothic style to this movie like he did with the first one.

There are some people who say that they like this movie more than the first one, but me I don't know which one I like more, as I've always enjoyed both films and always have since childhood. How about you?

My mom actually likes the first one more, and we have a friend at church who also loves both movies.

As for me, like with the first one I give this movie a 10/10.

Even though Halloween is over, I'm probably still going to continue my movie marathon a little bit longer.

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡
Once again the BEAUTIFUL Anjelica Huston as Morticia

Thanks! Yeah it was a really neat exhibit. I also saw Christopher Reeve's Superman Costume from Superman 4, Toby Maguire's Spider-Man costume from Spider-Man 2, costumes from Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, some costumes from the Wizard of Oz, Harrison Ford's jacket from Indiana Jones plus costumes worn by actresses who played Queen Elizabeth in movies including Cate Blanchette. My mom's favorite exhibit was a costume that was worn by Meryl Streep in the Lemony Snickett movie, as she's a big Meryl Streep fan. πŸ˜‚

This is Batman wanting to wish you all a very Happy Halloween πŸŽƒ πŸ‘» πŸ’€ from all of us here in Gotham City, and reminding you all to stay safe, have fun and don't eat too much candy.

Are you all doing anything special tonight? I'm going to work out with my trainer in the Batcave, and tonight mom and I are going to watch "Addams Family Values." I'll probably continue to keep watching Halloween movies even going into November close to Thanksgiving because another thing I do is watch Christmas movies going into late January because I feel these holidays are too short to fully enjoy them. Hey everyone,

Batman here once again. Continuing my Halloween movie marathon, mom and I watched another childhood favorite of mine, "The Addams Family" (1991).

Before I get into my thoughts on the movie, I want to talk a little bit about my lifelong love for "The Addams Family" franchise. I definitely grew up with this movie as a kid. I first found out about this movie's existence when my parents and I went to McDonald's once and they were selling movies and VHS tapes, and one of the movies they had was this one, when I bought it and watched it. I also remember growing up with "The Addams Family" cartoon from 1992 and watching it on TV on the weekends on Saturdays, and having some of the toys and action figures from it. I think I remember the Morticia figure being somewhat hard to find, and I was really happy when I found her. I definitely had a little crush on Morticia. πŸ˜‚

I knew of course of the original TV show from the 1960s with John Astin, (father of Sean Astin who was Sam in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy from Peter Jackson) Carolyn Jones, Jackie Koogan and Ted Cassidy (RIP Lisa Loring who was the original Wednesday Addams) and which was in black and white, and thanks to the magic of TV, I was able to catch reruns of the show, and quite enjoyed it. I had seen more of Carolyn Jones in both the Batman TV show with Adam West and on the Wonder Woman TV show with Lynda Carter (still the BEST Wonder Woman.) John Astin filled in for Frank Gorshin as the Riddler in one episode, and I had seen him in a few other things too. He actually voiced Gomez in a lot of the Addams Family cartoons.

I also remember watching the "New Addams Family" TV show in the late 90s where Ellie Harvey played Morticia, although from what I can tell a lot of that was remade from the original TV show in the 60s. More recently I enjoyed the new Addams Family animated movie from 2019 with Oscar Isaac as Gomez, Charleze Theron as Morticia, Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday and Bette Midler as the Grandma, (which is funny because I just rewatched "Hocus Pocus"πŸ˜‚) I saw the sequel to that one in theaters, I thought it was okay, but I liked the first movie more.

So as you can see, I've always had a lifelong love for the Addams Family. I even had (and still might have) a book that had some of the original Addams Family cartoons, comics and drawings by creator Charles Addams.

As for this movie, it definitely did a movie adaptation of the Addams Family justice. One thing I think worked really well was the EXCELLENT cast. Anjelica Huston was absolutely perfect as Morticia. She was beautiful (I can't get over how gorgeous Anjelica Huston was in this movie every time I watch it. She's definitely a very pretty lady, even today, even though she's been older. ) mysterious and funny. I've always been a huge fan of Anjelica Huston as an actress, both in this, and the role I know her the most was as the head witch, the Grand High Witch in "The Witches" (1990) which was adapted from the book by Roald Dahl, who wrote "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." It was about these witches who wanted to get rid of all the children in the world by turning them into mice. Huston played the lead witch, and she was ABSOLUTELY terrifying in that role. Especially in the part where she removed her face (which was a mask) and revealed her scary, ugly true witch face underneath. This character along with her performance as Morticia in the Addams Family movies, are probably my FAVORITE roles of hers, and made me a huge fan of her as an actress. This movie and "Return to Oz" were the two movies that absolutely TRAUMATIZED me as a kid, but like "Return to Oz," "The Witches" is another movie that I would later buy and own, both on VHS and DVD, and today I love both movies. Anjelica Huston was also really good as the evil stepmother in "Ever After." As Morticia, she was beautiful, mysterious and funny, everything Morticia Addams needed to be. One thing I've noticed about Anjelica Huston is that she's really good at playing either the villain roles or the weird eccentric characters.

Raul Julia was absolutely perfect as Gomez Addams, and I really bought the romance and chemistry between him and Anjelica Huston, and I TOTALLY bought them as Gomez and Morticia. In fact I would say the chemistry between the entire cast was great, where I bought them as being "The Addams Family." It really is a shame that after making the sequel to this movie, he sadly passed away from cancer. (RIP to him.)

Christopher Lloyd (another favorite actor of mine) was great as Uncle Fester. A young Christina Ricci, (who I loved in "Casper" and "Sleepy Hollow") was excellent as Wednesday Addams, giving a very deadpan performance as Wednesday, which I believe set up the interpretation for how future actresses would play her, including Jenna Ortega. Carel Struyken was great as Lurch (I know him from playing the villain in "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor") as was Judith Malina as Grandma, Jimmy Workman (who I don't think ever acted again after doing this movie and it's sequel) as Pugsley, and Christopher Hart did the hand motions and animations for Thing, and yes Cousin Itt does make an appearance in this movie too. All the actors in this movie were definitely committed to these roles and playing these characters.

The movie definitely had the right amount of dark humor and a Gothic tone that suited the movie well, making it a perfectly dark humored horror comedy movie for the Halloween season. Definitely a great movie to watch around the season, another classic. Originally they wanted Tim Burton to direct this movie, but he had turn it down because he was making "Batman Returns" (my FAVORITE Batman movie) so they got Barry Sonnenfeld to direct it instead. This was his debut film. He also directed the sequel, and more recently directed the "Series of Unfortunate Events" TV series with Neil Patrick Harris.

It's funny how even though Burton turned this movie down, he would later end up directing the "Wednesday" TV series, which I really wish I could watch, but since I don't do streaming, I really wish the series would be released physically on DVD, as I'm a physical media guy.

My other memories of this movie is when I visited a certain theme park as a kid that Paramount (who released this movie) owned, and they had movie posters around the park including this one. I also remember playing the "Addams Family" movie video game on the Super Nintendo, (SNES) even though I never beat it because it was really hard. They also made a video game adapted from the cartoon called "Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt" which I also remember playing.

Again sorry if this post was long, but I wanted to get all my thoughts out about this great film and franchise.

My total rating for this movie

    10/10

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡

Up next, the sequel for this movie "Addams Family Values" (1993)

Yet another movie poster and cover that I've always loved:

The beautiful Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams:

The Addams Family cartoon from 1992 that I grew up with:

The Witches (1990) Where Anjelica Huston was both beautiful and TERRIFYING:

It of course was adapted from the book by Roald Dahl. And yes I have read it, and own a copy. The movie pretty much followed the book exactly, making it one of the most faithful book to movie adaptations. Anjelica Huston looked and played the character exactly as she was described in the book. The only thing that was different in the movie was the ending which was changed from a dark one to a more upbeat one.

The edition of the book that I have:

    Hey everyone,

    Batman here once again,

Mom and I continued our Halloween movie marathon Saturday night, by watching another childhood favorite movie of mine (I remember having the VHS as a kid) the 1993 Halloween Classic "Hocus Pocus."
This was the movie that introduced me to Bette Midler, although mom was already a fan. She liked her in the 80s movie "Beaches" where she sang the beautiful song "You Are the Wind Beneath My Wings" which Patti Lupone (who I'm also a huge fan of) also sang on the TV show "Life Goes On." Midler also sang the song "The Rose" which was used and my mom and dad's wedding, and again at my dad's funeral (although it was a different cover, I get emotional just thinking about it.) Another beautiful song Midler did is "From A Distance."

This movie not only introduced me to Midler, but also to Kathy Najimi and Sarah Jessica Parker, who looked so DIFFERENT then than she does now. I definitely had a little crush on her as a kid πŸ˜‚.

Anyway the three of them were absolutely great and hilarious as the Sanderson Sister Witches, bringing and making them just the right combination of funny and menacing as villains. The chemistry they had together kind of reminded me of the Three Stooges. I really like their costumes too, and as a kid I was always fascinated by Bette Midler's costume because of the really cool long sleeves.

I'm not really going to make this into a long review of the movie since I'm going to assume everyone here has already seen it, and if you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend checking it out. Definitely a fun classic Halloween movie. I won't spoil it for you.

I also was impressed with how well the effects in the movie hold up, from the magic scenes to the talking cat animations. I really miss this era of special effects, and wish they would go back to real and practical effects instead of fake, cheap and ugly looking CGI. It also really took me back to what Halloween was like in 90s as a kid who grew up during that era, and really makes me miss those days.

Another thing I noticed while watching this movie again was just how good the music score and soundtrack was by John Debney, who also did the AWESOME music for the Phantom Manor ride, which is the Disneyland Paris version of the Haunted Mansion ride, my favorite Disney parks attraction which I made a recreation of which you can play and download here:

    https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/my-phantom-manor/

Other musical sequences that stood out was the fun scene where Bette Midler sang "I Put A Spell on You" with Najimi and Parker as her back up singers, and of course when Sarah Jessica Parker sang "Come Little Children" which was hypnotically beautiful, that I almost fell under her spell when she sang it.

All in all, this movie was the just the right amount of spooky and funny, and definitely funny! Especially the part where Kathy Najimi flew on a vacuum cleaner, instead of a broom.

Did you know that when this movie originally opened in theaters it wasn't a hit. It was actually a box office flop, and it didn't really become a "classic" until it was released on home video, and when it had TV showings around Halloween? It really is funny how that happens with some movies. Another great film like that was "Return to Oz" (1985) which I also recently rewatched.

Apparently the original idea for this movie was to make it a Haunted House flick, and originally it was supposed to be darker. I'm not sure how it got reworked to being about the three witches and how it came to be what it is, but truth be told I could not imagine this movie any other way.

    10/10

    That's all for now,

    Batman over and out πŸ¦‡
