More About Me
I'm a socially inept, idiosyncratic Australian teenager. My interests include reading, viola, weaving, my lovely pet rats and of course, computer games. My education has been atypical, but I refuse to let that get in the way of my higher education. And lastly, if you have CFS or any other chronic illness for that matter, know that you're not alone.
My Tutorials
I have one, which will be listed soon. Hopefully, with this here, it will prompt me to do that tutorial I've been promising for years...
It is important to remember, that in this world, there will always be someone better than you. But that is no reason not to try your hardest, because they likely did too.
If you seek respect from others, it is only natural to pay them back in kind.
Self-sabotage. Avoidance. It's a very bad, very real habit of mine, as a response to stress. PMC, I both love it and hate it, because it stresses me out, and yet I want to be involved.
I frequently come and go, it's like the tide, an endless push-and-pull. But it's been over 9 months, and I still haven't announced the results for my steampunk contest. I feel awful about it, but really, it's my fault for avoiding PMC for so long.
And so, I apologise. I'm contemplating how to make it somewhat better, because I really shouldn't have left in the middle of running my own contest.
If you're still active/alive, I offer you a free request. It's a massive commitment on my part, but I also plan on making a series of videos about how I make skins. If you don't know what to request, please give me something that you would like to see turned into a skin, but have no idea how to go about it. Please, not too hard, though, it must be possible to make humanoid.
Of course, you don't have to request something, but the offer is there.
As for the contest, I think I may need to cancel it.
Welcome back to the community! I understand how you feel, I come and go too and honestly haven't been online much either the past few months. If you need "you" time, you should take it and don't feel bad about it. People will understand, beside minecraft and anything crafty related to it should be fun, not something forced upon.
As for your or any contests.. I also see it as an opportunity to create something new and unique when I have myself no clue what to make. I'd like to thank you for your offer, but I have no need for a request other than: Please take good care of yourself, do it on your terms, if you don't feel like it, don't push it!
I'm glad to see you are active again, and I hope you've enjoyed your much needed break. Totally relatable ;) Regarding the contest, or contests in general, I see them as an opportunity to make something unique and wonderful, no matter the outcome :) Having fun is the most important thing, after all. It is very kind of you to offer to make requests for all of us who entered. My only request is that you keep in mind, to make every skin in your own time, with no stress, and have fun doing it ♥
As Dragan mentioned, PMC isn't a job. You have no obligation to be active 24/7 or even online once a week; your schedule, if you even want one, is up to you :)
You are a living, breathing person in your own world. You have life outside of a Minecraft website :)
Skinning mentorship ting: In the past several skinning mentorship programs have been attempted, some succeeding and most failing. Because I've learnt nothing from that, I am going to give one a try. In said program I'll introduce you mostly to how to do the gradient skin style, that is mostly dead on pmc at this point ( :c ). I have no clue if any of you are interested, in case you are let me give you a brief description of what to expect and what you should have in your baggage to join.
What to expect from me and other skinners that comment on your work:
Harsher criticism than you're used to on pmc. To help you improve, there will not be much holding back. The better you get the more nitpicky it will get - for the most part this has helped a lot of older skinners get really good, so it's a tried method with success.
That you can at any given time get thoughts on your skins.
An introduction to a lot of new skinners and skin principles.
Introduction to more common practices of course.
Challenges and skin ideas to broaden your perspective on skinning.
What is expected of you:
Ability to take feedback, but also to think about why said feedback is given. Feedback is not a must to implement, so rather think about why it's given. For the most part I'll try to warrant my feedback, so you get helped towards understanding why I think the way I do. But you should also think about it yourself.
That you're motivated and dedicated.
That you're willing to do more than one type of skin (eg. not just knights or teen skins).
The willingness to explore and research several styles - no answers will just be given to you.
That you can communicate over discord (because communicating over pmc pms is a bit clunky.
If you're interested hit me up with a pm. I live in CET/CEST, so it's an advantage for me if you're around that timezone. There is no set formula to applying, but think about showing off your current work and describing what skins you like and don't like and what your goal for making skins is etc.
The deadline is still a few weeks away, but just sending out a reminder for my skin contest. If you haven't checked it out already please do, I love entries ^~^
I was going to finish up and post my entry for the PMC Historical Splendour contest today, but then I accidentally consumed something I'm allergic to and gave myself a migraine, rip. Hopefully, it'll get done tomorrow.
If I ever take several days to respond to your comment, it's not because I'm ignoring, it's quite the opposite. It's because I value your words so much that I overthink my response and wind up procrastinating due to my social awkwardness. xD
I really appreciate everyone who comments on my skins or interacts with me positively on this site.
