day 2 of sketching whatever random nonsense yall feel like commenting!!!

feel free to reuse ideas i didnt do yesterday, i only did so little cause i ran out of time :p

i wanna beat whoever coined "righty tightey lefty loosey" with a wrench

left and right only work if you're coming at the screw or bolt or whatever from above. if you go at it from below, it's backwards. i spent way too much time under a chevy tahoe yesterday with a guy that didn't understand this and was dead set on loosening a locknut by pushing the wrench to the left, because "lefty loosey." we were underneath it. he was turning it clockwise. he was tightening it. we didnt get that nut loosened until he left to get some WD-40 and i popped it off by giving it one hard yank the other way.

clockwise tightens.

any time someone mentions “rust damage” in the automotive classes, i imagine something very different from what everyone else is thinking of

oh yeah shoutout to the suspension professor. dude says he loves jeeps. adores them. absolutely loves seeing them. why? because they’re piles of crap and he gets paid every time one rolls into the shop, which is pretty often

learning about vehicle maintenance and repair has uh. made driving a bit more scary

theres so many little parts in a car, and i had never considered that every single one of them can wear out, bend, break, snap, or straight up fall off. there are so many points of failure and all of them get closer and closer to failing with time. and 90% of these vehicles out on the road are being driven by people who probably dont even know how to check tire wear.

like, its bad enough having to trust all the other strangers on the road. but now i gotta worry about trusting the vehicles themselves?? how do i know that pickup in front of me isn’t about to collapse in on itself because it slammed into a pothole a thousand miles ago and the passenger side lower ball joint is a gentle tap away from disintegrating???

shoutout to the designer of the chevy tahoe that was in the shop today. motorized sideboards. sideboards that automatically deploy when a door is opened, and then retract when it closes. because just having regular sideboards is bad for some reason. especially on a big tall SUV.
