So, don't have access to my comp, so a bit hard to provide pictures! But today, I wanted to bring something up, layering. When skinning, there are times where you can make it seem to have many layers, depths, even fabric seemingly draping. For example, I find that if I use a darker color, say I'm making a blue skirt and use a darker blue for the divider of it, them doing a layer over that part and take up the entire side, it gives the skirt more depth.
What are some ways you go about layering? Things you find that help or things you struggle on?
if i've understood this correctly- the way i go about it is i just visualize how the the dress i'm making let's say looks in actuality, and then i imagine how it'd look as pixels. then i just add details as i go until it looks right, it's defo a more go with the flow process for me lol

Week 2 is live! This week's gimmick is the standard grid where you can only use 12 of the 16 shades. However each shade comes from an old PBL palette from season 1 to season 4.

Entry log, Day 223 of the Month of Azure, 3045 |
I sighed, then moved my unwilling hand to the mouse. Why we were required to create a log on every day of work, I have no idea. I simply just hated making logs. My spelling was poor, and my speech skills were even worse.
My eyes glanced up from my gloved hands, which were speeding across the keyboard frantically. “Day 223,” I noted without stopping, “Tomorrow will be Petani Gratis Day.”
“You make it sound like a bad thing.”
I jumped in my chair and spun around in my chair, alarmed at the unexpected voice from behind me. There was Fynn, smirking at me as he, almost mechanically, boxed a large, covered object labeled as "Confidential.".
“Oh, really? Do I?” I asked sarcastically as I stood up and walked to him, “Either way, you shouldn’t spook people like that!”
“And you shouldn’t walk around with a loose tie.” He replied as he reached down to straighten my required bow tie.
I fumed silently, allowing him to retie the maroon ribbon.
“It’s so stupid!” I flung my hands up in the air when he had finished.
“What is?” He raised an eyebrow. His calm demeanor never failed to annoy me.
I made a skin and bcuz I have problems I wrote a story thingy to go with the skin. The character isn't fully developed and I'm still making them / their story! I hope u enjoy!
You stumble out of bed, still attempting to shake away the early morning grogginess. The brash blare of the rude alarm clock startled you as you flicked between dreams and consciousness.
You glance at the bold red letters displayed on the cheap screen as you clumsily pull a random shirt on.
"7:AM? " you gasp as you reach for a pair of pants off the floor.
"Stupid, broken alarm clock!" you continue as you fiddle with the old buttons, "Making me late..."
You are disappointed to discover that these are your older siblings pants, not yours. "No time to pick new ones" you mutter as you bend down to roll up the silver denim. You reach for the shawl hanging off your bedpost. A-hand me-down, repaired too many times to count. No time to ask mom for the good one. You hastily tie the bow around your neck as you rush down the stairs, dodging Atreyu's bags as you go. You unconsciously scratch at your wrist, wiggling your other hand under the glove, before grabbing a hairband of the table. "Can't take them off," you mumble to yourself as you tie up your hair. It's not like you have much hair, but both school and work rules require buns or tails.
You grab some mis-matched shoes from the rack and pocket the your keys. You hop on one foot as you pull on the shoe. You lift your other leg.
No sock?
You throw the shoe, not caring where it lands. It's useless to you now.
Flip flops? You look around. What were you thinking? There are none anyway.
You grumble as you glance at your watch, except, there is none. You forgot that, just like everything else.
You run out of the house, calling goodbye to mom, wherever she is, and listen to the thump of one shoe and one foot.

That's so cool! Gardens are fun and beautiful but yknow it's kind of a pain in the butt to water it and care for it (I don't do it nearly as often as I should) But it's really interesting how you found a flower like that when it's still freezing cold outside x)
