INSTALLATION / DOWNLOAD

There ARE NOT ANY installers for this mod - if you downloaded from a page that sold you an installer, you were duped. Do not run any so-called installers or executables as they may be malicious.

Minecraft 1.8.9 requires Forge 1.8.9-11.15.1.1902-1.8.9 or higher. To install the 1.8.9 version 3.4:

Scroll down, xik. I hate to say it, but it's gonna be a while till he can get it updated to 1.9, let alone 1.15. Till then, you'll have to use commands, datapacks and resource packs to get the desired results. Sorry, bro.

I do have one other problem aside from not being able to unlock Barnes' bomb BAGS, but I suppose it could just go with DSS as it's purely about the skills. I can't actually perform a back slice. It's simply because the crosshair never ends up staying on what I'm targeting. It doesn't matter if I'm half a block away or half the reach distance. I also move too quickly for the crosshair to aim properly unless I'm out of range for attacking with melee weapons (the Battlegear spear might work but I think back slice is a sword only skill unlike skills such as spin attack).

It's certainly tricky to land it properly... I think you can press forward once the forced movement begins to adjust your position as needed, but I'll take a look at it next time I'm working on the mod.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who finds it difficult. And I also have a couple screenshots of a weird shield bug for 1.8.9 ZSS's 3.4 update. It does something similar to the 1.8 bug, but it's a bit random and it's skewed a bit more extremely. Would I send the screenshots here or would I send them to you some other way?

Yes, it's with Battlegear. I'm sure you're also aware of the "blue whip" that appears as well. I also couldn't use any of my projectile items, but I looked through the crash report and it didn't say anything about ZSS, despite me using the mod's hookshot causing the crash. I looked through the crash report several times, and it didn't bring this mod up after the one mention in the client loading the mod. I thought it was so bizarre, but at least it wasn't the code in your mod that caused the crash.

Sorry for the late reply - the later BG2 versions for 1.8.9 disable right-click blocking by default to "emulate 1.9.4"; unfortunately, I used right-click blocking for many of my items.

Luckily, I was able to convince the BG2 team to add a config option to re-enable it - it sounds like this may be what you need to do to resolve some of your item issues.

Logdotzip has made several videos on datapacks that do very similar things. I think he even did one where you can play as a wolf, so that's one feature you might not need to worry about, since it can be done without a modloader in 1.13+! Might have to do some searching for it, but it's possible!

I'm trying to get a blacksmith to repair a sword, but I've tried every blacksmith variant and none of them actually let me repair the sword. I'm using the 1.8.0 version (because on curseforge it looked like it was only updated to 1.8.0 so I have to settle) and I can't figure out how to get the villager to work... Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

You need to have unlocked a certain amount of (vanilla) trading options with the villager first, generally 6.

Turns out I forgot about the left click mechanic. But now I can't unlock bomb bags with Barnes. It could be that I give myself a bomb bag with StartingInventory, or that I spawn him in with an egg. Or it could be I unlocked the water bombs and fire bombs first. I'm on 1.8 by the way, solely because more of the mods I use are on 1.8 than 1.8.9, like the previously mentioned StartingInventory and Dynamic Lights. Sorry if it's a duplicate start, my keyboard on my phone doesn't want to cooperate.

Did you convert a villager named "Barnes" into the ZSS NPC by giving them some gunpowder? If so, he should have regular bombs by default, even in 1.8.0.

I can buy bombs no problem, it's the bomb bags as I said. The manual says to approach while holding a bomb. I think the problem might be that I configured it for no explosions while held? I could try converting a villager first since I used a spawn egg those other times... Also, I know this mod has a lot of connections to Battlegear, so I can understand if you don't update it past 1.8.9. But if you ever manage, could you add bauble support for like the Knight's Crest and the masks? Maybe the Knight's Crest can work kinda like a pumpkin with Endermen when worn as a belt.

Re: bomb bags - please check your config file for the line "[Bomb Bag] Allow Barnes to sell bomb bags" and make sure it is set to true.

ZSS is a lot more complicated than DSS is. While I do plan to update it eventually, I don't have nearly the amount of free time I once did, so it may be a while longer yet.

When you do manage to finish the update, is it going to be a patch for the 1.8.9 update since it's so dependent on BG2, or will it be for an update of 1.9 since the offhand system is built into Minecraft (I personally prefer BG2's dual wielding system, but I think both 1.9 and BG2 could work well together)?

BG2 never updated past 1.8.9, so any version of ZSS that updates beyond that will use the vanilla dual-wielding mechanic.

1.8.9 and earlier versions of ZSS will receive a final update or two and retain BG2 support.

Hi, I'm trying to create a Zelda map using this mod, however, for some reason, all the Secret Stone in secret rooms have turned into Din's Flames, and all the unbreakable secret stone in secret rooms have turned into Used Flames (after you swing the sword through them. I'm not sure why this happened, but I went into a non-modded version of the world to try to clear them out, unfortunately when I came back into the modded version of the world, they were back. I was wondering if there is any way I can deal with this, as it is creating a ton of lag. Thanks

Sorry for the late reply - it sounds like you may have loaded the save with missing mods at some point and corrupted your save. I believe there are programs that can help you resolve these issues, but I'm not familiar with any of them. Sorry!

If anything, though, at least add the sand rod from ALBW - it would fit in so well, though if it creates sand it would be kinda OP if you have Chateau Romani, you could get infinite sand until it wears off, but it would still be such a good match - and the Guardian Acorn from Link's Awakening, which could apply all resistances for a short period of time without any real offensive advantage so it's not too broken.

I don't even have a Switch (or a Wii U in case everyone forgot botw is on that console) and I know one skill I want added: bullet time. It's so cool, but probably might be really hard to code. In any case, it makes sense to me as a skill you can only use once you either learn all 14 skills or max them all out, could be configurable.

I believe there ought to be some sort of reference to newer games, such as A Link Between Worlds or Breath of the Wild. I don't know much about the latter apart from its main gimmick being bullet time, but I managed to beat all Lorule dungeons except for Dark Palace (and therefore Lorule Castle) so I know a lot about ALBW. Anyway, my first two thoughts for possible additions were turning into a painting just like in ALBW (use levitation max because it prevents any change in y coordinates and use something similar to Logdotzip's transformation videos but with much greater magic usage since it would be really OP without restricting magic) and BotW's bullet time (give all entities slowness and slow falling but make it where he needs to learn all other skills at max to allow bullet time to be activated).

Sorry about the sad end of Legends Of Craft, mainly it was too much work and with Pixelmon being shutdown, they have deciced to turn it into a original fantasy rpg mod...

Anyways, besides that, zelda sword skills is a great mod! I hope it beomes the best zelda mod out there!

(as long as nintendo doesn't discover it or at least changes their copyright to be less over the top)

To anyone downloading from Ad.fly - obviously, disable as much JavaScript as you can (use uMatrix or a similar extension on FireFox) and don't click anything other than Continue to get the download.

Basic internet safety.

Going forward, I hope to get rid of Ad.fly links altogether, but they'll be here for a while longer.

is it just me or does adfly pop up every time i try to press download in here?
(here is what hapens:i click download in planet minecraft but then it brings me to a website that i think is where i download the mod from but i guess i will never know beacuse adfly pops up and when i click skip ad it rederects me to yet another adfly website and if i close that and go back to the first website it was rederected and before you ask yes i can't go back a page beacuse you guessed it adfly pops back up again)
ps:i am bulgarian so if there are any words spelled wrong thats why

The download links here do use Ad.fly - I just tried it myself and had the same experience as you when I only clicked Continue; clicking Deny in the allow notifications popup first allowed the Continue button to work properly.

I was playing the 1.8.0 version of this mod, (since Backpacks for the current version is broken, and I'd rather not play this without them) and I found a bug; no secret rooms or boss dungeons generated in the Nether. I checked the config, everything was as it should be--it just wasn't working for some reason. Not sure if anyone else gets this or if i'm just unlucky lol

The hookshot and whip were broken also. I could fire/swing them, but the projectile would disappear immediately, as if their ranges had been set to 0 in the config, but they hadn't.

I know this is for an outdated version and probably doesn't matter much, but I figured I should mention something anyway

P.S. This is my all-time favorite mod to play, good job and keep it up man : )
