Introduction

Hey people, there's been a lot of talk lately, at least in the places that I play and hang around on, about whether or not Minecraft should be more realistic, or should be less realistic. I've heard plenty of arguments both ways, with people even going out of their way to insult other people and their ideas about how the game should be! It's getting a little crazy, but I'll do my best to explain both sides, and give them each their fair time.

Realistic MinecraftBloghead_zpsdejpg

I am a big supporter of a more realistic Minecraft game. I love using realistic texture packs, and enjoy it very much when they add new blocks and mechanics that remind me somewhat of the real world. There's just something satisfying of making something in Minecraft that could almost be possible in real life, or making something here because you don't have the money to make it for real, or things like that. It makes the game feel a little more like you're actually there, because we can associate with the realistic portions of the game, and get sucked in even farther than we thought possible.

Realistic Minecraft components can also make the game easier for new people, sometimes, because they don't have to get into the so-called "Minecraft Logic", and can instead rely on the things they already know from their life outside of the game. This allows new people to get into the game much easier, and builds an even bigger community!

Unrealistic Minecraft

Adding things into Minecraft that are not realistic at all, such as witches and more weird worlds, is something that a lot of people not only want, but seem to believe is the only thing FOR the game. They argue that Minecraft is a game, therefor it shouldn't add REALISTIC things, but fantasy or other unrealistic things. They bring up a good point, as unrealistic can only be achieved in the game, but that could easily get out of hand, or the game could just get ridiculous with how fake it is.

The Resolution

The resolution between these two groups of arguing people is so simple that it should be obvious to them, and is already being done by Mojang. Add things to Minecraft that are both realistic and unrealistic, and don't focus energy on either or, as both play a critical role in the game's greatness. Without both sets of additions, the game would never have achieved it's amazing status, nor would it be able to keep going.

This is a little obvious to those who pay enough attention, but it seems a lot of people fail to do just that.
