Yesterday, IGEBM, Si, and Storm called Guts in PMC City and asked him about the paranormal occurrences on Shiver Island. Guts was immediately worried when he heard that they were on the island, and said he'd explain it all today. Now, they shall learn the history of Shiver Mansion...
IGEBM, Si, and Storm gather in the library once again, propping up IGE's phone against his box of Dungeons & Dragons magic item cards. IGE unlocks it and calls Guts, who immediately picks up. "Hey, everyone." he says. "I don't have much time. I'm aiding in the hunt for Silence." "You're a prison guard, not a cop." Si says, confused. "No clue why they asked me to help." Guts explains. "How long do you have?" Storm asks. "15-20 minutes." the former Aspect of Horror responds. "I'll be able to tell my story in that time. Now, who's ready to learn the history of Shiver Mansion?"
"It all started in the year 2011, around September 21st." Guts begins. "A man named Daemon B. Shiver had been sailing around PMC just for the fun of it with his three friends - Davey, Alec, and Martin. They were going west of the Unknown Lands, and thus south of what would one day become Morbid Island, when they came across a previously unmapped island. They disembarked from their ship and inspected it, dividing into three parts. The first part, which was north, was an area of empty plains, while the middle area was taken up by a large dark oak forest. The southern end of the island was home to an average-sized mountain with several caverns. Shiver and co. returned to PMC City, where they were able to have a meeting with the Council of Mods. During the meeting, they told the mods about their findings, and planes were sent out to confirm their words. Once all the formal stuff was completed, maps around the world began to be changed to add the newly-discovered island, which Shiver was able to buy. He and his friends moved there, and were seldom seen by the rest of the world after.
"Shiver, Davey, Alec, and Martin started to make the island home. Alec, who was a master of the axe, cut down a third of the forest. The wood was used in the construction of the house you are currently sitting in, which was designed by the engineer, scientist, and architect that was Martin. Davey, a skilled sailor, returned to PMC City to bring back more of their belongings, which were used to fill up the house. Finally, after the house was complete, they moved on to other projects, like a farm, and all was well... for now.
"In October, an invitation was sent out to a man whose name I have since forgotten. Shiver was asking him to stay at the mansion for the month. The man, having heard of how nice the mansion was, went there, but he was never seen. You may ask how I know the next part of my story. Well, being the Aspect of Horror, the master of fear and fright, I simply knew about it. During this man's stay on Shiver Island, horrible things happened. For some reason, Shiver snapped, and turned on his friends. The first to go was the Davey, who he drowned. Next was Alec, who he trapped in the torture chamber and beheaded with a guillotine. Last but not least, he murdered his closest friend, Martin, when they went hiking, where he was pushed off of a cliff. Shiver was now the only other living person on the island, and he began practicing demonic rituals, something he had been fascinated with for a while. One such ritual involved sacrificing the visitor - who was unaware of all the murders - so he could become a god of sorts. This went awry, and he was turned into ghost, cursing the island. It was consumed in a perpetual thunderstorm, and the spirits of his friends returned from the grave, forever stuck on the mortal plane.
"They came up with a plan to slowly gather souls for reasons I don't know, inviting people every year to stay on the island from October 1st to the 31st. During that period, Alec would trap them in his torture chamber and murder them, harvesting their souls for Shiver. That's where my story ends." "Wait... I just realized something." Storm says. "Davey's the ferryman, and Alec the Axecutioner! And Martin is definitely Martin Helsyth!" "It all makes sense now!" Si says. "Well, most of it. Why was Shiver gathering souls?" "What about the Ritual of Heavenly Ascension?" IGE suggests. "Doesn't that need a bunch of souls? And aren't they stuck here on the mortal plane? It only makes sense that they'd start gathering souls for a ritual so they could go to the afterlife." "Ritual of Heavenly Ascension?" Guts inquires. "I was in the library the other day, and-" Storm's explanation is cut off when the call with Guts ends. "What the heck?" "I have a feeling I know why that happened." IGE says, running downstairs and going out to the balcony. He carefully climbs up the ladder and his suspicion is confirmed: the force of the wind bent and damaged the signal antennae they were using to get a signal to call Guts. As he climbs down to tell his friends about it, he notices a figure clothed in black robes hiding behind a tree. He looks away for a second, and when he looks back, it's gone.

although, just to drive you crazier, I used to do that
with my first series, War on the Nether, I would assign a number to each person who appeared in the chapters (that wasn't an OC) and then use a random number generator to decide who I'd give early access to
then I stopped when I began Apocalypse (second series)
