Introducing Mo-Variants!


This datapack/mod by Rainy Realm Creations brings all new mobs and variants to the game.

There are multiple categories of variants:

  • Normal - These variants/mobs aren't really special in any way, but they are still unique and add to the game!
  • Ambient - These variants/mobs are to help with the ambiance of a world.
  • Bosses - These variants/mobs bring more challenge to the game, but are also a lot more rare to encounter.
  • Seasonal - These variants/mobs are designed to appear during specific times of the real life year. More info down below!

Mo-Config!


Run the following command to customize your experience!

/function mo-var:config

You can enable/disable some integrations, toggle each variant's spawning, and even change their spawn rates!

Mo-Items!


Some custom mobs/variants will drop some unique items.

The Forgotten miner drops a helmet that gives night vision, the Undead Barbarian dropping a unique battle axe, and a decent few more!

Some custom items will be split out of the pack in a future update to increase the ability for you to customize your experience!

Integrations:


Mo-Variants contains several integrations with other packs. Please bear in mind sometimes this list may be a little behind.

All integrations are always optional, and only exist to make your personal experience better.

  1. This integration will allow the automatic enabling and disabling of seasonal variants.
  2. Can be toggled in the config in case you need this pack for something else, but don't want seasonal variants.
  1. This integration reduces issues that cause some variants under the Horde Effects to become nearly impossible to outlast.
  1. This integration is temporarily disabled!!!

There may be more, however these are the only tested integrations. If you would like a proper integration with another pack, please reach out!

Beta 5 is out with many changes, improvement, and fixes.

Beta 5 still only supports MC 1.20-1.20.1, & Beta 6 is planned to do the same.



The Betas will be ported to 1.20.2 when ready, see full changelog on modrinth.

Also have mobs drop fire wands, wind wands, echo wands from wardens that uses item components

Hi, can you provide a clean way for developer to target your entities?

I saw your checking the smithedd.entity to ignore them, wich is cool. I would like to ask for a common tag to target your modified entities. Or better, to target the mob that didn't get any modification.

Hey, you should be able to target any mobs that did not get modifed with tags. For the specific tag name first list the tags of a mob and you'll see the tag associated with not_xxx

Hello!

Thanks for the suggestion, there was theoretically a way, but we recently became aware our method of doing so was flawed. I will be confirming the issue is patched out in the new betas, and then each variant will have it's own unique tag, along with each mob being properly tagged when the spawn check fails. I will also add a tag for all variants of a specific type, and a tag for all variants period.
