Part. 15 – Crisis – of Sketchbook Journey is now live I made Skethcbook Journey in an attempt to destroy myself, and being able to let go of that throughout this entry, today provides a lingering melancholy mixed with gratitude.
From a learning/drawing pov: I never really knew just *how much* personal issues can stand in the way of genuine curiosity, meaning: The conclusions I draw aren't new to me – The entire goal of Sketchbook Journey *was* to BE impressive. What changed, and what helps me stay calm, was to uncover my own suppressed feelings from childhood; everything that 'is not okay', including being bad at something. Piecing it together with how I act and think today, allowed me to let go of the need to always protect myself behind a wall of 'I am better than you at this'.
As a result, I'm calm for the first time. And that makes drawing a lot less scary, as I don't urge to be impressive in everything I do, everywhere I go, like when I started Sketchbook Journey.

poll Poll : What's your go-to first night strategy?
Was cleaning out some old harddrives when I stumbled over previously unseen images of the PMC Museum I built 6 years ago. I've added the images to the post + added a terms of use for all my builds. Here's the one photo I had forgotten about, that I think goes the hardest
Yeah, sadly its a bug I've been unable to fix on the map. I pressume its a result of the map I uploaded being a world-download from the original server + a few fixes to spawning the player in. I've tried to fix as many issues as I could, but haven't been able to figure out a fix for that one yet :/
Silly goofy idea I had for a story: Succubus comes to human world to do succubus stuff, ends up falling in love with the food culture, goes out in the world to explore different food cultures.
In this entry, I focus primarily on hands and connecting the upper and lower torso together to draw a more coherent (and consistent) full-torso figure. However, I’m also realizing throughout this process how limited my abilities still seem to be. Just when I think, “Ah, I must’ve finally hit rock bottom, and it’s only up from here,” I get hit with a reality check so big it makes me want to quit.
But I’m still here, still going! Hope you all enjoy it!
Though a bit shocked that a channel that big does not give credit. I'm a nobody though, so it's not like me whining about it will change it lol –> let's instead celebrate that my build was used to make something fun :D
Seems my little crash-out got through somehow, and Cyprezz managed to figure out what was going wrong with uploading to the PMC servers. Thanks for taking my issue seriously :)
I have been spending quite a bit of time reworking my Neocities website, and actually came back to move all of the Sketchbook Journey entries to the website, because I finished coding the templates and frameworks to make it work.
Which now means, I'm in a slight pickle hehe. For the sake of simplicity / giving me less work, I'll spend some time moving all of the entries over to my website, and then I'll use a code-converter to convert all new entries from html code over to BBSource Code (Aka. The code that the PMC editor is using).
So will still be a while before new uploads, but I'll upload pt. 14 of Sketchbook journey, as soon as I'm done moving everything :)
Honestly, I give up. I keep getting the same 503 error every time I try to upload even a 20kb image file as a banner on PMC, and its been like this for the past 3 months.
Been thinking that maybe it'd be more fun to create a website that makes all my sketchbooks available for online viewing. It'd mean I'd keep posting my blogs here, but then every time I finish a sketchbook, I'd upload it on the website.
Was thinking it might be more fun to do that, instead of my current copy/pasting of all my PMC blogs.
Am thinking the website would basically be like "Stubbs sketchbook drawer". Was originally thinking of creating a free Patreon to do this on, in order to allow donations – but I am a tad bit unsure about that idea, and much prefer being able to present my learning in a more expressive way, than one contrained by corporate webdesign.
Silly late night thoughts. I might be in over my head in terms of coding (but it can't be that hard to code... right?)
I'm considering moving all of my art blogs over to Neocities / My own website, which would mean that my Minecraft and art stuff would be kept separete.
The benefit is that I don't have to censor or leave out stuff from the blogs – aka. I can actually show my references without getting banned :'D
Downside is that, this account would be pretty dead, apart from the bi-monthly reminders that a new entry in the blog series is available. Could also do a double upload, but that would require a lot of work that I am quite frankly too lazy to put in hehe
I'll probably move them some day, or just let all of the current entries stay up, but then leave a link to my neocity in case people want to keep up
It seems something (finally!) clicked for me about torsos and arms, and how to put it all into practice. Had to censor a large chunk of the drawings because... well booba warning :'D
However, as my life is changing pretty drastically during current times, it has become more difficult to maintain motivation for drawing.
tldr: Install Linux Mint 🔫 And I've finally found actual motivation to draw and build stuff. --- I did not realize how easy it is to install Linux Mint (A Windows like operating system for computers). I honestly can only recommend switching operating systems :'D
The biggest surprise for me – as a gaming laptop user – is: 1. Battery time went from 45 minutes (Windows) to 2 hours (Linux Mint). I have no idea why Windows eats THAT much of my battery while idle, but this alone has been worth the switch! Additionally, I use internet sharing from my phone (I dont have wifi) – Windows would easily be eating upwards of 500mb of data per 5 minutes, even when idle. Linux Mint however, acts way more like a macbook: It only uses internet, when necessary. No Microsoft adware eating phone data while idle.
2. Everything works out the box! And the USB-drive I used can even be converted back to a normal working one, once the install has finished. Best part: Linux Mint comes with a dedicated program for doing this exact thing <3
So anyway. I transferred all my builds and just need to find the time to finish them now. Besides this little adventure, I've started working 30 hours a week, which means there is less time – but more motivation! – to draw and build stuff :D
ASUS TUF –> Its designed for gaming, but Windows just absolutely destroys the insides of it. Oddly enough, whenever I'd turn Windows on, instantly the fans go on full blast and even when idle the laptop is warm. Somehow, Linux Mint fixed that as well. In idle its cold, fans only turn on when I'm playing Minecraft –> and even when I'm actively playing games, it doesn't get particularly hot.
