    and checked some stats.

Why is Meta trying to ddos my website lol
like everyone being "reasonable" and only sending daily 1-500 bot requests / per ai comapny..
    Meta: 16 THOUSAND..

the site even has only like 5-600 pages. (260 projects + 3d)

Idk what it takes for you guys,
but realizing that your weather app is tracking you, to sell your location data, is certainly a bar i do snap' at.

Working on more minecraft stuff again today and then spend the afternoon inspecting and yeeting apps of my phone.
Found this open source attempt at a ios and android weather app, https://ossweather.akylas.fr/ OSS Weather and on Linux i found: "Mousam" which is very nice

edit: wrong app screenshotted #updated img
    SEfaught2026-09-17 14:34:04
kind of reminds me of those notification you would get when downloading a new app, basically asking if the app has your permission to make phone calls
    Kraggle092026-09-15 15:25:58
Edit: I see the fixed image now, that’s definitely crossing a line.

It’s all able to be opted out of, and it’s not being sold. It’s standard product improvement analytics. It’s more like the person going to the mayor and saying “hey this person couldn’t find LOCATION, we should add a sign for it”. Unless I’m missing something in the privacy policy.
    McMeddon2026-09-15 15:02:46
Metapher: Asking a local person on the street for directions and then both going their own separate ways VS asking for directions once, and then they follow you, while keeping notes, where you go and what you wear.
    Kraggle092026-09-15 14:26:37
oh wait, duh it “tracks your location” how else does it tell you the weather?
    Kraggle092026-09-15 14:21:10
I mean, that’s only if you have analytics enabled in iOS settings, right? Since Weather is a system app?

    1. All Sketchbook Journey entries have been copied over to Neocities. Difference in when a new entry is uploaded to PMC/Neocities depends on circumstance, but should continue to be unnoticed.

    2. Cara.app seems to be testing a new anti-scraping measure that causes embedded images (like here on PMC) to disapear after a while; so I've changed the image hosting to Neocities, which should let the images I embed in wall-posts (and on my PMC profile) stay up. My apolegies if you saw one of my wallposts without an image and just thought "what is bro talking about???"

This is like a super lowball and harmless example, but..

i swear researching for projects and trying to find authentic and real references gets like.. harder and harder every year. When google and co are just flooded with 10 altered versions + ai recreations of a real place. So frustrating, like having to analyse every image if its real or not...

    McMeddon2026-09-16 06:50:21
i just tested that for a sunken ships in swamps AND HOLY HEAVENS IS IT DIFFERENT.
    Awhikax2026-09-15 13:56:20
Google offer filtering by date so I guess filtering anything pre-AI era would help.
Looking for nature photography contest websites may also be a good way to find "natural" images (often photoshopped though).
    DOOMSTRYKER2026-09-14 09:22:20
I agree with you on this one. I want to see REAL untouched pictures of REAL Earth for my builds! Not something regurgitated by AI. I want to see the true beauty of our world.

    LG IS SOOO DONE.

On my recent TV with invasive ACR post.
    Its apparently way worse.

-They are insecure( with unpatched 0Day & RCE's), botnet enabling, data scrapers, analyzing you, your network, your surroundings, your neighbors. Nothing is save. And neither is the data it captures, because they store it all in LOGS and send off. To a firm LG doesnt even fully control.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IFVTcM28KA
You can have EVERYTHING denied. And they still profile you. May they crash and burn and get sued to hell.

This is not LG only - samsung, hisense, tcl, sony, vizio etc do that ship very very like tooI hope this whole add/tech burns to the ground one day.
    CalDoesStuff2026-09-11 20:56:38
reading this on my LG monitor 😔
    McMeddon2026-09-09 12:53:28
    Oh yea im pissed!
Linux: Was 100% Worth it! Let me give you my 7-8 months intro knowledge:

GET VENTOY for install! You can try first without even installing (usb), or try it on a secondary pc/laptop or in a VM.
Debian/Ubuntu (lts), Fedora(mid cycle) or CachyOS (latest) with KDE (win like) or Gnome (mac like) is just 95% you need.
Do 1 OS per system, dualboot Linux+Win possible, but can be a real hassle especially when something breaks.
Dont trust google serp results, i bricked my system once or twice.

Main limits, currently VM's on linux have no native GPU passthrough support, limited support for various proprietary (video/audio-) codecs h265, mpeg or aac. Ms native/locked programs, Mc Bedrock, games with kernel anti cheat, Adobe programs, and niche proprietary programs. Most windows programs are possible to run with bottles/wine or winboat. 80/20 chance.
    Awhikax2026-09-09 11:58:39
lmao now you're gonna hate them
I should definitely switch to Linux, one day...
    McMeddon2026-09-09 11:52:25
I am SO aware. And got me laughing when i saw, this on my windows partition
Gladly i switched to linux (cachy) earlier this year.

On the privacy note - tip:
For you iPhone users check out this research/inspection tool: Loupe
Showcases how fingerprinting on ordinary data points, can reveal your interests, habits and circumstances.

Its amazing, got labled gamer, purely on the basis that i had twitch installed KEKW
But also put me into the Privacy bucket, because i had Signal and Proton apps.

I figured out that 1/1000 images of mine had a geotag (grrrrr).
I also learned that my phone has a barometer?!
    McMeddon2026-09-08 15:07:22
barometer is like to meassure air pressure. Apparently its for:

    Vertical GPS and floor detection.
Fittness tracking (the movement changes) + Activity recognition.
Part of weather analytics, if your local pressure drops it could warn about rain.
Oh for paragliding apps when you fly in the mountains.
    int322026-09-08 13:40:35
so there may be apps stealing your barometric information? creepy!
(I have no idea what they could infer from THAT!)

Mc unrelated: Does anyone of you guys have a TV?
Cute reminder TURN OFF ACR AND OTHER SETTINGS: all your TV's track/monitor/spy on you for advertisement/user-profiling by capturing your screens c:

Samsung, TCL, LG, Roku, Vizio, Sony.. basically all do ACR, they know when&what you watch, play, or when you do work or shop
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvFu343KNek

(On the LG G5, identifiable ACR-related traffic)
    Dronko fire blaster2026-09-07 14:30:57
we do, but its a rear projection crt, though we do have a fire stick on it.

    MerBatPhan892026-09-06 12:21:17
Good thing I don't use any of those streaming services as I prefer physical media, and for YouTube I use Newpipe/Pipepipe which blocks all the annoying ads and prevents my data from being sold to Google.

    Do you prefer:
    1. Finished illustrations, but roughly only 1 wall-post per month
    or
    2. Sketches, but a wall-post once a week

(Hint: Your answer will effect my uploads)
    McMeddon2026-09-06 09:02:07
    What AvatarKage said.

+ Sketches, breakdowns, progressions, before/after, timelapses, weird adaptations, digital, paper, printouts, printouts on holo paper or other, or into 3D prints, Finished illustrations, finals, final_finals, finals3.

Do whats most fun to you, there are tons of ways how to share stuff, and all are cool to experience.

New world map before GTA6 lul

The UN voted for a new map projection to be used - Bye Bye Mercator, hello equal earth c:
New one comes with better country proportions and doesnt exxagerates the polar regions as much

also only now I noticed that mercator freacking placed the equator line into Algeria instead of Gabon, DRC, Kenya etc. wth xD

    McMeddon2026-09-07 08:09:04
probably not, but they surely can continue using mercator - sea maps for sea mateys and land maps for the land rats ARRR
    YourFriend09182026-09-06 19:16:49

Noticed odd behaviour of mine: If I tell someone I'm doing something, I stop doing that thing. If I don't tell anyone that I'm doing something, I keep doing it.

(Most people know I'm drawing, so I've stopped doing it. Few people know (or care) that I have a website --> can't stop working on it)

Am I weird or is this normal? Feels normal to me, but I'm starting to question it
Edit: When I say "I've stopped doing it" in reference to drawing --> I haven't quit, but I've significantly cut down on what I put into it.
    Stubbs12026-09-06 06:47:08
Does explain a lot though. Guess I gotta stop yapping about everything I do, until after I've already done it :'D
    MegaMinerDL2026-09-05 04:21:50
Last I read, it's something about the fact that telling others about something gives you the dopamine hit you'd normally get from actually doing and showing the thing. It's why I stopped doing promises xD

    webdev stuff i learned today.
Was kinda confused why there were these random path requests for my site and investigated a bit.
    • There are automated reconnaissance bots casually skimming through the web searching for access points / logins to webservers or backends to attack (knew about that)
    • What i didnt yet know was one way how they do that, supposedly this is a "asset fingerprinting", trying to get a response from hidden web server/pages which usually doesnt respond or straightup blocks that stuff, but regardless of request sends like favicons/logos of the login page and therefor giving like a "positive" response back.

    Kraggle092026-08-30 15:36:29
I misread "/static/icon/bjch.png" as "/static/icon/bitch.png" and was very confused as to why you'd name a file that XD

I sometimes forget that even PMC has trolls on it, and that no matter how much one tries to understand them and extend a hand: Some people have no will to do anything but be absolute idiots. Not naming the name of this user in question, blocked them. So even if I'm being a bit petty typing this out – Thank you, to all the people on here (the 99%) who aren't complete and utter, absolute blithering idiots.

With that out of the way. Its been a while since I've updated whats up in my end.
All my focus has been on my Neocities. Finished up the template I need to copy Sketchbook Journey entries over. This includes moving all image-files I use to my neocities storage, instead of Imgur, as I've noticed that some of the older Imgur pictures I uploaded, have all disappeared.
