Cloud Towers

Firstly, i want to promote a contest that i am hosting that is a skyscraper contest. It is open to everyone, so if you have a great design idea, you should check it out. Contest will close on February 19th.

This is an original design loosely based off of the Nakagin Capsule Tower by Kisho Kurokawa. The idea with this is to build a modular frame building around a central core. The core supports the building, and the units hang off of it, and expand as needed. The reason for modular and prefabricated buildings is to reduce waste by having the materials in a controlled environment, raise the quality of construction (again, by being in a controlled environment, as all the pieces are manufactured and somewhat assembled in a factory), and reduce building time. A similar principle is being applied in China where a 30-story tower was built in only 15 days (led by Zhang Yue).

Each module is 6 x 6 x 6, and each apartment is fully furnished with a kitchen, study, living room, and bedroom. Most have balconies, and some have two bedrooms. The arrangement of each unit is varied. There are 4 units per floor, and their layout is based on eight different arrangements randomly created on each floor based on the needs of the rooms in each unit and their adjacency to the surrounding units. There are two towers in this complex in my city, but the towers are identical, so i have only included one in the schematic.
