This datapack is for Minecraft 1.20.4. An older version for 1.20 - 1.20.2 can be found on Modrinth.

This datapack adds decorative hanging chains and ropes to the game. These can be used for map making and in survival.

Items

The catenaries in this datapack can be fully customised by map-makers by giving the Firework Rockets custom NBT. The pack contains 8 preset loot tables to serve as examples and as items that can be crafted in Survival mode. These are:

• Amethyst Lights: Amethyst Shards emitting a light level of 10 hanging from Iron Bars.
  Recipe: 2 Iron Bars and 2 Amethyst Shards
• Bamboo: A liana made of bamboo containing random leaves.
  Recipe: 3 Bamboo in a bucket shape.
• "Catenary" Spelling: A chain with the letters "CATENARY" hanging from it.
  Recipe: 3 Chains and 1 Name Tag.
• Chain with Lanterns: Like the simple chain, but with Lanterns that emit a light level of 7.
  Recipe: 2 Chains and 2 Lanterns.
• Chain with Mixed Lanterns: Like the simple chain, but with alternating Lanterns and Soul Lanterns that emit a light level of 6.
  Recipe: 2 Chains, and 1 Lantern, and 1 Soul Lantern.
• Chain with Paper Lanterns: Chinese-styled paper lanterns that emit a light level of 10.
  Recipe: 2 Chains, 2 Paper and 2 Torches
• Chain with Soul Lanterns: Like the simple chain, but with Soul Lanterns that emit a light level of 5.
  Recipe: 2 Chains and 2 Soul Lanterns.
• Custom Spelling: A chain with letters hanging below it, which can be customised.
  Recipe: 3 Chains and 1 Sign
  To customise the letters, rename the item in an anvil.
• Electrical Cable: A hanging rope/cable.
  Recipe: 3 Copper Ingots in a bucket shape.
• End Rods: Hanging end rods that emit a light level of 14.
  Recipe: 3 End Rods in a row.
• Grindstone Chain: A thick, tough chain made of Grindstones.
  Recipe: 3 Grindstones in a bucket shape.
• Mossy Beam: A thick curved beam made of Cobblestone and Mossy Cobblestone Walls with random vegetation growing on it.
  Recipe: 2 Mossy Cobblestone Walls and 2 Leaves.
• Rainbow Glass Panes: Glass panes arranged in a rainbow pattern.
  Recipe: A Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple Stained Glass Pane.
• Simple Chain: A chain that hangs in a curve.
  Recipe: 3 Chains in a bucket shape.
• Straight Chain: Like the name implies.
  Recipe: 3 Chains in a row.
• Straight Iron Bars: Like the straight chain, but with Iron Bars.
  Recipe: 3 Iron Bars in a row.

Usage

To place a Catenary, you first place the Firework Rocket at one of the points where you would like to attach it. You will then get a rocket that is bound to that location. Placing this rocket on the second attachment point will create two anchors at the attachment points with a catenary between them. You can left-click these anchors to destroy the catenary, and you can right-click an anchor with a rocket to set it as an attachment point for another catenary.
