Since Mojang updated Villager back in 1.10 to require a "work station" to have a profession, it means that when you cure a Zombie Villager it will turn into a villager with no profession until it find a work station, the upside to this is that you can give it any profession you want as long as you have the required work station, the downside is that if you see a Zombie Villager with a profession you need but don't have the work station then you'll lose out on it when it gets cured.
This pack aims to fix that by making it so that when a zombie villager is cured it will retain the profession that it had as a zombie, so you get the villager you where wanting and with it comes the cheaper trades, which is always a good thing.
- How to use
To use the pack you don't need to do anything differently, the pack will run in the background and only when the player cures the zombie villager, so no clocks or anything to cause lag.
So go ahead, find that Librarian Zombie Villager that might have mending books and a REALLY good price and cure them, you'll no longer lose out!
If however for whatever reason you WANT the Zombie Villager to have no profession when it's cured, maybe you want to give it a profession by placing a workstation down, well you can do that as well.
To do this simply crouch when you right click on the Zombie Villager with the Golden Apple, this will cause the level one Zombie Villager to do the normal behavior of being cured into a villager with no profession.
- Advancements
In the newest version of this datapack I've added an advancement tree to give the pack a little more character to it as all my packs tend to have a "trophy" the player can unlock and I didn't want this one to be any different.
The main advancements are:
"So Unprofessional" - Cure a level one adult Zombie Villager while holding crouch to stop it from keeping its profession.
"Cure Zombie X" - There is an advancement for each of the possible professions for the zombies, when you professionally cure one of them it will give you the advancement.
"Extremely Professional" - This is a hidden advancement and is unlocked when you complete a certain task, it will also give you some xp and the packs trophy (textured player head)
- Disable Advancements Command
If you wish to remove the advancements that my packs add, just simply run the command and they will be disabled for all players:
/function 8bm:advancements_off
If you want to turn them back on in the future use the following command
/function 8bm:advancements_on
- Uninstall Command
You can uninstall 1 of 2 ways
1: During install (or world reload) if you're in Creative you will get a "pack installed" message, if you click [INFO] there is an uninstall button at the bottom
2: type /function 8bm:uninstall.professionally_cured and press enter
- Reset "Advancement Triggers"
If for some reason a Zombie Villager doesn't switch it's profession level when you click it with the apple or something else stops working as you feel it's meant to, you can try resetting the "triggers" that are used to do the action in the pack by type /function 8bm:reset this will reset the triggers for players currently in the world and should NOT affect any of your advancements
Thank you - to Kate1902019 for commenting about this on my other Data Pack, it gave me the idea to make this one!
1.16.5 NOTE:
1.17.X versions of this DataPack will not work correctly in older versions of Minecraft, however you can still download the 1.16.5 version of the pack from this link: Professionally Cured Version 1.1.1 - DropBox

This has now been fixed and it will only make a Zombie Villager profession level 2 if they are profession level 1
