poll Poll : What's your go-to first night strategy?
Saw a video some big minecrafter upload the other day about mc skin 'fashion' going downhill in the recent years/a decade and if I had the energy or video editing skills I would want to absolutely compile SO many high quality, fashionable skins I've seen in recent years because it's absolutely such a false take!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the community needs to be shown off more for its SWAG!!!!!!!!!!! SWAG IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!
It's because actual creative fashion skins are no longer given attention, or at least a fraction of what they used to, or at least just aren't used and therefore seen by less people than they should. Most people who use skins are looking for minimalistic, monochromatic designs; I started noticing this trend half a decade ago and made a sort of parody skin out of it but it's actually my second best skin... As such, current artists are often going with the flow and trying to create the same designs over and over to try and get some recognition. It's actually really sad. Creativity is no longer rewarded with people actually using the skins :T you can have all the diamonds and hearts, but you'll never actually see them in-game.
I think it's mainly cause the newer generation doesnt like overly complicated skins and just go with whats popular, hence the drop and obscurity in quality these past years. Looking up the most trending skins on NameMC shows clearly a trend (eg skins with monochrome color palette and slim. This is also coming from a guy whos fairly new on making skins so..)
It doesn’t help that bedrock has essentially an offical part picker! On the quality/plagiarism front.
but otherwise I think the huge disconnect has gotten a lot narrower in more recent years (despite our communities I think being different to what it used to be/shrinking in *some* aspects) younger/newer generations of players are a lot more in tuned with things that look good and with the development of marketplace platforming and rewarding well developed content I think it’s become a lot more commonplace than it has been in the past, I’ve seen content creators now do commissions for multiple skins off skin artists, modellers etc. I remember back in the day skindex too did not have the content it does now on it and I think that progress is incredible.
Honestly I feel like there is a huge disconnect between the people who make skins as a form of art in terms of the highly detailed content versus the people who use skins. In my experience most people I see in game wear what you or I would consider the lower effort or lower skill skins and even a lot of youtubers wear these sort of skins. Not to mention part picking programs are still common place, even if they are different ones from 10 years ago. I feel as if they have always lended themselves better to lower skill content as it becomes more difficult the more complicated a skin gets to use parts of it on another skin and have it look like it all matches.
cough maybe if we didnt bully 'teen skinners' and discredit them enmass for so many years there would be more light shon on a core and talented part of us

Well, a jam is a PMC feature that allows people to submit skins, texture packs, maps, etc. often going off of a theme. This one in particular is autumn/fall themed. It will likely be held during… well… Fall!
Help bring our upcoming October in-game event to life by creating a festive NPC skin! Think scarecrow farmers, pie vendors, wandering storytellers, anyone you'd meet at a cozy Fall celebration. Give them a name, a location in the festival, and maybe even a few fun lines of dialog. Your creation could become part of the festival world!
We're gearing up for an exciting Fall Festival on Planet Minecraft, and we need your creativity to make it spectacular! Join the Planting Season Jam by contributing builds, blogs, or art inspired by autumn themes like harvest, cozy vibes, and festive celebrations.
How to Participate:

We've revamped our Site Rules with new sections focused on Social Interactions and Moderation— to help make the platform more welcoming and transparent for everyone.
✅ What’s new?
Our content rules remain the same, but the Social section is all about outlining what’s already been happening naturally but wasn't documented! This is to help newcomers understand how to engage positively and give everyone a clearer reference point. Ideally, if it helps prevent even small misunderstandings or frustrations, it's a win.
The Moderation section provides some insight into our responsibilities and actions. It's one small step towards offering transparency so you know how we keep the community fun, safe, and respectful. We're working on a larger update to this end.
We’re also compiling FAQs to make your PMC experience even smoother for both new members and exploring features of our platform! You can help us out by posting in this forum. Just prepend your thread title with “FAQ:” and—bonus points!—if you can provide the answers in your thread. Every contribution helps the community grow stronger and helps us understand what needs to be answered!
Let’s keep building an awesome community together.
Please, please, please do not hesitate to message me or another staff member if someone is using our site's private messaging system in such a way as to make you uncomfortable. You have every right to use our site without being subject to private messages that make you feel unsafe or uneasy. You should never feel pressured into not speaking up.
Every private message chain has a block and report button underneath that allows you to quickly and easily block communications with a specific user, and (if you choose to) submit a report to the administrators so that they can investigate any relevant message chains and act in your best interest to keep you safe. If you'd rather talk about the situation with a site moderator, we can also forward your concerns to the admins (with your permission). Reporting a user through their profile will also put the situation on our radar so the team -- as a whole -- can put energy into investigating the situation for you.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Drzzter
