After hearing a strange clanking sound during the night of relaxing, IGEBM, Si, and Storm ventured into the woods to investigate. They followed the source of the sound to an abandoned forge, which, for some reason, appeared to be in use. The person forging was quickly revealed to be the ghost of the long-dead Forgemaster Chaos, fallen leader of the Forge.
"Chaos?" IGEBM asks, both surprised and excited at the same time. "Yep, it's me." Chaos responds. "I mean, I'm a ghost, but it's me." "It's been so long." Storm says. "How long ago was the Fall of PMC City anyways?" "Half a year." Si responds. "Me and Blue have both been keeping track." "Why?" Chaos asks. "Eh, I don't know." Si answers. "Anyways, how's death been?" "Well, the afterlife is pretty cool." Chaos says. "I can forge whenever I want, with whatever I want, and I've made some pretty cool things. I do miss you all though, especially Shadow. The sad thing is that I can rarely visit my friends here on the mortal plane." "I'm guessing now is one of those rare times?" Storm asks. "Yeah, the tenth month of the year has high paranormal energy, according to Paril." Chaos explains. "For 31 days, any and every ghost is able to visit the mortal plane at any time. However, at midnight every night, paranormal energy is at an all-time high." IGE feels strange. "Are you alone?" he inquires. "As a matter of fact, I'm not." Chaos answers. "Come with me." He gestures for them to follow him, which they do.
After walking for a little bit, they arrive in a small clearing of sorts in the woods where the trees are spread out in a circle but the leaves have still grown in a way that they form a roof. "Hey guys, show yourselves!" Chaos says. In the empty space, more ghosts start to appear, those being Gracie's deceased sister Shadow, artist Jupiter, revolutionary activist SB, local lunatic Pluckpi, all-around friendly PMCers Content and Kay, and tech engineer Phrozen. IGE, Si, and Storm are too excited and intrigued for words. "Hey!" Kay says, waving at them. They wave back and look around. "Go ahead." Chaos tells them. "Talk to 'em."
Si goes up to SB and Pluckpi, two friends of his, and speaks to them. "I missed you two!" he says, very happy to see his old friends. "So, how have things been?" "I miss activism." SB says. "There's no rights to fight for in the afterlife, no freedom needed to be gained... you could say it's a bit too docile." SB chuckles as Pluckpi speaks up. "I miss annoying y'all every day." she says. "Yeah, we miss your craziness." Si responds. "Gone too soon..." Content walks up to them. "Hello!" he says. "Content!" Si cheers, preparing to hug him before remembering that he'd go right through his deceased friend. "How's your afterlife been?" "Not too exciting." he answers. "How's PMC been?" Si begins to catch them up on everything that's happened since their deaths.
Meanwhile, Storm talks to Shadow, Jupiter, Kay, and Phrozen about their lives (well, afterlives) and what's been happening on PMC. IGE chats with Chaos, catching him up as well. "Let me get this straight: you, Si, Tzy - wow, that's hard to say - Golden, and Greief stopped the end of the world?" he asks. IGE nods. "That's pretty cool." "Emmin was also released from prison after her 4-month sentence, there was some anonymous guy repeatedly posting hate speech messages online, Piaccu's dying, and Greief may have accidentally created a bunch of clones of Blue." IGE continues explaining. "Oh, and Arian was locked up for a few days for crimes she didn't commit, but she was freed and everything's fine now. A new universe got discovered too." "What is it?" Chaos asks. "Kingdomia 823.5." IGE answers. "Part of the newly-discovered Kingdomia universal cluster. Their PMC is a kingdom currently ruled by their universe's Arian." "Speaking of rulers and leaders, what's up with the Forge's government now?" Chaos inquires. "After the Nether War ended, the governmental leader was changed from a Forgemaster to a council, an idea put forth by me." IGE explains. "The Apprentices became said council, with one change: Tem left his position as an Apprentice before things were legalized, and was replaced by Blue. Whisper stepped down last week, but we haven't decided to look for a replacement for her. Anyways, enough serious stuff. How long will you all be here?" "Until sunrise." Chaos answers. "Then we're heading back to the afterlife." He points up. "Then let's all make the most of our time together." IGE says. He waves at everyone, telling them to come over.
After explaining that he wants to have some fun before sunrise, they spend the next few hours playing games, exploring, and simply enjoying the fact that they can talk to each other. Once the sun starts to come up, they start saying their goodbyes as their friends fade away and return to the afterlife. "It's been a great morning." IGE says as Chaos starts to go as well. "Peace." "Yeah, we really missed you, man." Si adds. "Bye." "I hope we can meet again." Storm finishes. "Until another day, my friend." Chaos finally disappears. "You guys wanna spend the day in the woods?" IGE asks. "Random thought, I know, but there's so much we haven't explored. We could spend the whole day and night wandering around." The group laugh, and the others agree with him. They set off to go explore the woods.

This chapter of PMC: The Mansion of Shivers is meant to serve as a tribute to everyone who's left the site, no matter what the reason. You may notice that Elightin_elytra is missing, despite the fact that it will have been over a week since he was banned from posting content for 10 years for leaking Marshal GrossDeimosStein's IP and basically left the site by the time this posts, and that's because he does occasionally message me and a few others in PMs, so I don't consider him dead yet. You may have also noticed that TacoFromDaSky was not in this story, despite having left the site a few months ago, and that's because, a few days before started writing this, he came back with a new account (TacoFromTheSkyz), and thus is not canonically dead anymore. Anyways, that's it for the mourning-type stuff. Hope you liked this chapter!
About a song...
In each chapter of PMC: Apocalypse, I included a song at the top of the blog that I thought would fit the story. Now, I don’t plan to do this for every story, nor do I want to put it at the top because I have this amazing cover art that I want to show, but for this one, I chose "The Moonflower Society," the (basically) title track of Tobias Sammet's rock opera project Avantasia's latest album, A Paranormal Evening with the Moonflower Society, which came out last October. The song is about a secret society of freaks and monsters that gathers at night "where those moonflowers used to grow" (as the song says). While coming up with the plots for each chapter of this series, I noticed some similarities between the Moonflower Society and the group of ghosts in the story. I also imagined that, if this was a show, the song would play over a montage of the main characters and the ghosts hanging out together as briefly described in the last paragraph.
