Yesterday, IGEBM, Si, and Storm were invited to spend the month of October at the mysterious Shiver Mansion on the similarly-mysterious Shiver Island. After exploring the seaside market while waiting for their boat to arrive, they were brought by an eerie ferryman to the island. He then left them there for the month. It is now their first morning on the island.

IGEBM wakes up and leaves his room. He heads downstairs and looks for the kitchen. He finds Si and Storm in there already eating. "Look who's up." Si says as he finishes his cereal. "What time is it?" IGE asks. Storm points to a clock above the doorway. IGE looks up and sees that it's 9:22. "Well, guess I was tired." He grabs a bowl and spoon and pours his cereal in from the box, before opening the fridge to get the milk. "I think today we should start settling in." Si suggests. "And getting to know the house, since it's pretty big." "I second that." IGE says. "Me too." Storm adds.

After breakfast and showers, the group meet in the foyer. "Okay, so I suggest we split up and explore the house on our own." Si says. "Sounds good to me." IGE agrees. Storm nods as well. They then go their separate ways. IGE and Si head up the left and right stairwells respectively, while Storm stays on the ground floor. IGE walks around the left side of the house, passing by one of several bathrooms as he goes down the hallway. He also passes by a locked study and a small closet with cleaning supplies. He eventually turns left, running into Si in front of the door to the balcony.

While his friend explores the left side of the house, Si explores the right. He passes one of the bathrooms, a lounge room (presumably for anyone who doesn't want to hang out in the foyer/living room), and a closet with tools and extra supplies. He soon turns right and runs into IGE in front of the balcony door. "Let's check it out." his friend says, opening the door. They briefly go outside into the rain and thunder and look on at the land before them. "I actually like this weather, believe or not." IGE says. "I can see you as someone who enjoys rainy days." Si responds. "Well, what writer wouldn't?" IGE asks. "Rain is perfect soundtrack for writing - well, not counting power metal - and it looks so ominous. I always seem to write action sequences in rain 'cause it looks so darn cool." Si chuckles and walks inside. IGE follows him in.

Storm examines the rooms on the ground floor, excluding the kitchen, which he's already seen. There's only two long ones, with one being an art studio (on the right) and the other being a science lab. Then, he heads upstairs and meets up with IGE and Si, who are on their way up the stairs to the library, which takes up the entire third floor. "I can't believe Shiver has an entire library floor." he says when they make it to the top. "I mean, I can imagine half a floor, but not the whole thing." IGE laughs and looks around. The center of the floor (the area before them) is comprised of several chairs positioned around a glass coffee table with a candle. It is surrounded by aisles of books, divided by topic. There are sections for (among others) sci-fi, dystopian-themed stories, history books and historical fiction, textbooks, magazines, science books and journals, as well as the most interesting of them all, the "Everything Paranormal" aisle. "This is interesting." Si says as he looks at the books in the section. "It appears to be full of books on spooky stuff." Storm and IGE walk over and join him. "The 5 Most Haunted Places on PMC, Ghost Stories to Chill the Bones, A Complete History of the Occult..." the latter reads as he looks at titles. They explore the rest of the library for the next 30 minutes, and then take a break and read some of the books. As they read, they hear a light thud above them, but ignore it.

What does Shiver Mansion look like?

First of all, today's story was practice for me in a way, since it's one of the first times I'm really describing things in detail. I don't believe I did that much in my past works, and I wanna get better at both doing it and remembering to do it. However, words can only explain things so much, so I'd like to announce that I'll be building a Minecraft map of Shiver Mansion, and it'll be downloadable too! Yay!
