Years and years ago, when I was just a lad, my parents took the family "up north" to the lake country for summer vacation. There they had rented a little two-bedroom cabin on the lake, where I spent one of the most wonderful summers of my life. Unfortunately, where exactly this cabin was located and its precise dimensions have been lost to the mists of time - but at least with the power of Minecraft I can recreate a reasonable recreation of that memorable locale.
What I remember most about the cabin - aside from its awesome rope-swing into the lake - was its dual-level living room with a a second-floor balcony overlooking. I fondly remember sitting on that balcony, legs hanging over the edge, reading a book or simply watching the rest of the family scurry about.
If there is one thing this project does not recapture it is the wonderful isolation of the cabin; just getting to there required driving along a rutted drive-way that was at least a quarter-mile from the road. There were other cabins on the lakefront, but there were no direct paths to any of them - if you wanted to go visiting, you'd either have to hike through the overgrown woods or walk back to the road until you found their driveway. Unfortunately, in order to keep this project reasonably small, I only incorporated the trees and lakefront immediately adjoining the property, but it should be enough to give you an idea.
This isn't my favorite project - the structure itself looks rather plain, in my opinion - but I had a good deal of fun making it, just because it allowed me to relive some old memories. Like all my projects, I use the John Smith Legacy 1.11.2 v3 resource pack.If you use other texture/resource packs, things might look weird.
If you like this design, please check out sone of my other projects, such as the Walled Medieval Town, the Island Castle, my Motte & Bailey Castle, the Hillside Home, the Hill Manor or any of my other dozen-plus designs and shared assets.
