It was just another day in PMC City. IGEBM wasn't working at the Nugget Factory, so he spent his day writing in his apartment.
"Perfect!" IGEBM says as he finishes a chapter of his next book. "This is gonna be an awesome book." Then, he hears a knock on the door. The lore-writer walks to the door and opens it, but finds no one there. He looks down and sees a white envelope with a turquoise seal resembling a ghost. IGE picks it up and closes the door, heading to the table to open it. It reads:
Dear IGEBM,
You have been invited to spend the 31 days of October at Shiver Mansion on Shiver Island. All expenses are paid and everything is prepared for guests, so if you wish to go, head to Pier 6 at the PMC City Docks. The ferryman will arrive at exactly 6:06 PM OT. Bring this letter with you to prove you were invited.

"Well, maybe I should go." IGE says to himself as he paces back and forth across the room.. "While it may be a previously-unknown-to-me island, it's a free stay at a mansion. Who wouldn't want that?" He goes into his bedroom and begins to pack a suitcase. Eventually, he finishes, and then he packs a backpack with his notebook, laptop, writing and drawing materials, comics, and several other things. IGE puts the bag on his back, leaves his apartment with his suitcase, saxophone case, and envelope in hand, locks the door, and heads downstairs. He walks through the rainy streets (without an umbrella) and eventually arrives at the docks. When he gets to Pier 6, he finds his friend Si there as well. "Si?" he asks, surprised. He notices the envelope in his hand. "Were you invited to Shiver Mansion too?" "Yeah, so were you?" Si answers. IGE holds up his letter. "Wait, were you two also invited to the island?" Storm asks as he arrives behind them. "Yup." they respond. IGE checks his watch. "It's 5:37." he says. "We have some time until the ferryman comes. Y'all wanna explore the market?" "I don't see why not." Storm responds. "You think our bags'll be safe if we leave them here?" Si asks. "I doubt anyone's gonna take them." IGE answers. They leave their bags on a bench and head down to the market (located between Piers 7 and 14).
The group stop at the souvenir shop. "Oh look, souvenirs." Storm says. They begin to look around. IGE examines an aquamarine-edged cutlass. "Ah, I see you're interested in my aquamarine cutlass." the merchant says. "Yeah, it's pretty nice." the writer responds. He swings it around. "How well does it cut?" "Well enough." the merchant responds. He pulls out a wooden board. "Cut this." IGE brings the cutlass down on the board, and it slices through it with ease. "How much?" he asks. "I'll give it to you for 30 bucks." the merchant says. "25." IGE bargains. "Deal." the merchant agrees as he is handed the cash. IGE puts the cutlass in the included sheath, which he attaches to his hip.
Meanwhile, Si looks at an antique Cyprezz figure, and Storm buys a book on fishing. The trio go their separate ways and continue exploring the market, before regrouping at Pier 6 at exactly 6:06 PM. Upon their return, they find a raggedy-looking boat made of black wooden planks. Their bags are already on the vessel, and the ferryman captaining it is standing on the pier before it. He is clad in tattered black robes, his face obscured by his hood. His right hand is missing, a metal hook taking its place. His tall-but-hunched-over figure gives IGE, Si, and Storm an inviting gesture, and they walk up the ramp and onto the boat with their souvenir bags, showing him their envelopes in the process. The ferryman joins them, and frees up the ramp. It drops down to the side of ship as he begins to steer them out of the harbor. "It's going to be a rainy journey, lads." he says in a pirate-sounding voice. "I suggest ye gather below the deck." "How long will this ride take?" Si asks as he follows IGE and Storm downstairs. "We'll be on the island in about 2 hours." the ferryman responds. "There's a note downstairs with some information on it." Si gives him a thumbs-up before going downstairs to join his friends.
"I'm guessing this is the note." Storm says, having heard the ferryman answer Si's question. He is holding up a piece of paper, which he proceeds to read aloud to the others. "Shiver Island a rather lonely place, located far from any other lands. Due to the strange climate where it is located, it is in a perpetual thunderstorm. Shiver Mansion is located on the north end of the island, near a field with crops and a cemetery. The rest of the island is full of dark oak trees, with a small mountain on the south end. It is encouraged by Mr. Shiver that you stay away from the woods and anything past it." "Interesting." IGE says. "I'm surprised I haven't heard of this place." He pulls out his phone to look up a map, but finds that he has no reception. "Well, we are in the ocean, and this boat looks too old to have any access to WiFi."
2 hours later, the boat docks. "We have arrived!" the ferryman says. IGE, Si, and Storm rush upstairs and see the island before them. They unload their bags. "Will you be staying here with us?" IGE asks. "I'll be exploring the sea, matey." the ferryman responds. "Ah." IGE responds. "Well then, I guess we'll see you in 31 days." "If you make it." the ferryman mutters under his breath. "What?" Si asks. "Nothing." the ferryman says quickly. He returns to his boat and begins to pull out of the harbor. "Well, I guess this is our home for the month." IGE says, turning to the massive mansion. He leads the group up the hill and to the door. The keys are hanging on a hook next to the door. He takes them and opens the door. It opens with a creak, and the group see the inside of the house. "It looks even bigger on the inside." Si comments. He follows IGE inside, and Storm follows him. They see three extra sets of keys on the table next to them, two of which are taken by Si and Storm. "I'm guessing these open all the doors." Storm says, noticing the large amount of keys. "Probably." IGE responds, before noticing a note on the table. He reads it aloud, telling his friends about the island and where their rooms are. They head upstairs to the second floor and find their rooms. The trio go inside and begin to unpack.

Welcome to PMC: Mansion of Shivers!
Welcome to my latest lore series! For those who are new to this site, I should probably explain to you what’s going on. Back in January, I made this blog detailing the universe my persona lived in. At the end of February, I started a 9-part series of stories called PMC: War on the Nether. It concluded in May and was succeeded a few weeks later by PMC: Apocalypse. Apocalypse ended the first major “phase” of my lore, concluding a subplot about the impending arrival of a being that would cause the end of the world of sorts. That series lasted for 7 chapters, and concluded near the end of June. Now, it’s been about 4 months, both in-universe (well, technically 5 there) and in real life, and I’ve decided to do another series. This time, I was inspired by the spooky stories I wrote last year, which were mainly short tales in the descriptions of my October skins. I came up with the idea of a daily series that would run from the first day of the month to the last, and after a few days of planning, Mansion of Shivers was born. Seeing as it’s being published daily instead of weekly like my last two series, I’m making these stories shorter, which allows them to be written quickly as opposed to me spending 5 days on one chapter. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this and be sure to stay tuned for more adventures on Shiver Island!

About a song…
In each chapter of PMC: Apocalypse, I included a song at the top of the blog that I thought would fit the story. Now, I don’t plan to do this for every story, nor do I want to put it at the top because I have this amazing cover art that I want to show, but for this one, I chose “Invitation,” the opening track from German power metal band Helloween’s third studio album, Keeper of the Seven Keys: Part II (released in 1988). It’s a short little instrumental that I think goes with beginning of the story, and plus, there’s the name.
