The Great Turtle Bay Makeover - Phase 2 (MC 1.14.4)!
We live and play in this map extensively, the biome diversity is great! Within easy reach of spawn is a jungle, swamp, desert, mesa, and a Giant Mooshroom island to the north. Across the sea there are ice plains and more… | |

The Turtle Bay Makeover is progressing at a fast pace, and Phase 2 is nearly complete. The town is shaping up nicely and we like the overall visual as you wander around town. Turtle Bay is now the center of commerce and activity for the expanding world. At the shoreline, the Port District is the Shipping interface to the rest of the world beyond the sea. It is connected to the Warehouse District on the other end of town via an underground freight system. |
Right next to the Port district is the Beach , you guessed it, Turtle Beach! Extra brownie points if you can correctly identify the real beach it is named after!. The crown jewel of Turtle Beach is the Grand Hotel. This model has just been released in 1.14.4 taking advantage of the new block variants. Another of our featured builds is the Capitol/Parliament. "Folks gotta have a place to argue, make rules, and stuff," as Digger says. Then at the crown of the hill is the Turtle Bay Church, a really fun build. Another feature just added is the lower ramparts of the future King's Castle. The ramparts include working Iron gates! The full castle will be the Focus of Phase 3, though. |
Done:
completed in 1.14.4 (Phase 2):
- Finished the Grand Hotel, download available now...;
- Completed the Design and construction of Courthouse and a new bank to compliment Capitol Building
- Reworked existing roads and added some new pavement to create a City-Block for Commercial and residential use.
- Added eight new Town Houses and numerous shops from our City-Block Series;
- Complete rebuild of the Industrial area in front of (or west) the Warehouse;
- Created the Farmer's Market Sqaure with a 4-level Auto-farm, a 16 furnace smokehouse, and a bakery.
- Removed the giant auto-farm and placed a smaller one in front of the Warehouse;
- Added the Royal Village Tudor House on the North side of the Lake;
- Redesigned the underground Item transport and cargo input for the Warehouse to repair issues with the transition to 1.14;
- Added two new Furnace array versions - One as a smokehouse in the Market Square and one as a smeltery in the Industrial area;
- Added Lumber mill to the South Town Area (this may be renamed to Lumberton);
- Started work on some wattle-n-dab style row houses - Don't like them. I may destroy and start over;
- Added small downtown City Stables (folks gotta have a place to park their horse);
- Furnished Library 1st floor (on top of printing office);
- Added the lower ramparts for a future King's Castle, featuring two 5-block wide iron porticullis gates based on a design by skippy 6 gaming.
- Added waterfall tower to spawn (you actually spawn inside the tower and exit through the waterfall).
- Added the Armory (completely in Survival) and the Forge and connected to the output delivery infrastructure.
- Forge, Foundry, Smokehouse, and minifarms output now all connected to Warehouse for automatic operation with manual overrides.
To Do:
New construction of Shops, apartments, and other buildings as needed, including:
- Continue dredging lake behind the Royal Inn (contemplating names for lake),
- Install and configure Item Retrieval System under Warehouse Storage and Sorting System,
- Improve spawn area and new user support.
- Add public beach decorations and facilities.
To be completed in 1.15 (Phase 3):
- Renovate the Port District wharf and cargo area,
- Construct the King's Palace on the beachside cliffs ,
- Underwater habitat & research center.
This map was created with Survival Multi-player mode in mind. It was meant to be run on a mostly vanilla server but should work fine on single player machines. Most of the work is hand built, some are even completely crafted in-game from harvested or crafted materials. However, we do use Worldedit to assist in some builds. Some buildings are built on our creative server and them imported in as schematics.
We want to create an eminently playable starting point for larger Minecraft adventures. We aim to provide a working public infrastructure so individual players don't have to spend time developing things like transportation, economy, etc/ and can get on with adventuring or building as they desire...

We are well on our way, but there is still much to do. Come and visit or join us. We could use folks to develop the Mooshroom, Mesa, and other areas or just come and stake a claim and build. In the meantime, check on our progress here.
This is it! we are closing Phase 2 of the Turtle Bay Makeover Project in 1.14 soon. When we have reach the 75% complete level, we will prepare a map for download. More details when it is ready.
