After allying with the Mystical Forest Empire, the Great Monster Empire activated weather machines that sent powerful hurricanes towards Anarchy and Illager Island. The MFE also sent storm dragons to Illager Island, and the Chaos Legion's shield dome was crumbling under the pressure of their hurricane, which was increasing in strength. Air Military Officer Rylu was branded a traitor by Emperor Wither Storm II for participating in Minister of Defense Marshal GrossDeimosStein's coup, and was later recruited by Supreme Commanding Legionmaster IGEBM to work with the Legion to end the war. Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Cloud killed a good number of MFE warriors on their island and broke into the castle before being forced to retreat, and the storm knocked out the missile defense system. Legionmaster Storm went to the Red District Power Plant to reboot it, but the plant was attacked by General Totenkriegstein, and in the ensuing battle, Storm was stabbed by the general and died from his wounds in the hospital.
King Elightin Elytra and Field Marshall Rob were in Castle Cholan, located in Thanjavur (the capital of the Cholan Empire-controlled territories of Anarchy Island), decorating the meeting room. A beautiful tablecloth bearing the Chola flag was spread across the long table, and the room was decorated with Cholan, Chaos Legion, and Illager banners. Elightin's communicator beeped, and he stepped out into the throne room (located to the left of the meeting room) to answer. "Hey, we need you downstairs for a sec, if that's okay with you." Dr. Golden's voice said on the other end. "I'll be right down." Elightin responded. He hung up. "Rob, I'll be right back!" He walked through the halls of the castle and took an elevator down to the weapon development lab, where he was led by a scientist to a large room. Inside, Golden was waiting for him. There was a large nuclear missile behind her, containing poisonous gases. "It's finished." she said. "We ran the tests; it's ready to launch." "In that case, send it to eastern border using the underground caverns." Elightin ordered. "When I'm ready to launch it, I'll go down to the command center and do so. Thanks for all your help, Golden." "No problem." the scientist responded. "You should go back upstairs. I have a feeling the others will be here soon." Her king nodded and went back upstairs. "They don't know about this, do they?" she added as he left. "No." Elightin sighed. "And I'm not going to tell them." The door closed behind him as he walked back down the hallway.
A few minutes later, Anarchist Si and Supreme Commanding Legionmasters IGEBM and Cloud arrived at the castle. They had received invitations to partake in peace negotiations with the GME the previous day after Legionmaster Storm's funeral. Holograms of Arch Illager and Emperor Wither Storm II appeared through projectors placed in front of seats. "Welcome, everyone, to this meeting." Elightin began. "I welcome the Chaos Legion, Monster Empire, and the Illager Clan to this summit for negotiations. I hope we can make peace and things in the past can be resolved!" "Um, Elightin, you should probably end this right now..." IGE interrupted. "I don't believe the Emperor is open to negotiating and I heard he and Rose are plotting to attack us." Partially confirming IGE's statement, the Emperor's hologram was on pause, indicating that he wasn't participating. "Well then, TIME TO RELEASE THE NUKES, FELLAS!" Elightin cheered. "He's been waiting a looong time." Si whispers to Illager. "And I'm gonna release a nuclear blitzkrieg." Rob added. "Only one problem: we don't have a way to reach the GME by land." IGE noted. "I can send air forces, and then we can send ships through the water." Rob said, finding a solution. "Water is too risky; they'd see us coming from a mile away." IGE said. "But with air, they'd have to pick us up on their scanners first." "True." Rob responded. "So we've agreed that air is the best option, but how effective would submarines be?" "We don't have subs, just transport hovercrafts." IGE said solemnly. "I've been meaning to find someone who can build more vehicles for us. I heard Kai is a good designer." He whispers the last part to make sure the Emperor doesn't hear Kai's name mentioned in association with the Legion, as he is currently serving as a spy in their ranks.
"No nukes." Si interrupted. "If one launches, all of them do. It's really simple actually. We send in commanding infantrymen from each Legion district to different areas behind enemy lines using cloaking tech from the Southern District. They're trained to strike silently and from a distance, so the enemy will believe there to be more troops than there are. With their focus twisted behind them and in front at the same time, we can easily surround them." Suddenly, the Emperor's hologram sprang back to life. "Firstly, we turned our island into one large fortified area with numerous powerful lines of defense and turned the cities into powerful fortress cities." he said. "Secondly, an attempt to conduct a military operation to eliminate the leaders of the empire will lead to dire consequences. The murder of our leaders is a red line, the crossing of which will lead to the apocalypse, and there will be no winners in this war. Thirdly, the opposition in the empire is in the crosshairs of the empire's state security service. Fourthly, we know your secrets; you have a traitor who is sending us your information." "Y'all have a traitor feeding you our information?" IGE asked. "Guess what, buddy? So do we! Rylu's been giving us your military secrets since she allied with us." He then rubutted the Emperor's other statements. "Also, Mr. Wither Storm, even if you're getting information from a traitor in our ranks, none of it will be useful, because everything important is in the minds of me, Si, Cloud, Elightin, Rob, and Illager, and nobody else." he finished.
It was at this moment that the most horrific moment in the war was about to happen. King Elightin Elytra got up from his seat. "I'll be right back." he said. "I need to get a snack." The King of the Cholas left the room and snuck behind his throne, entering a secret elevator and taking it down to the command center, where people were sitting at their computers keeping an eye on the GME. Marshall Cat, one of the people who helped him form the Cholan Empire in July of 2022, greeted him. "I'm guessing it's time." she said with a sigh. "Yep." Elightin answered. He briefly considered whether he should launch it or not as he remembered words of the PMC City Conventions: if all other members of war council do not approve of or are unaware of a nuclear missile launch, said missile cannot be launched, as well as: the use of any weapon involving chemicals such as poison gas is forbidden. He shrugged it off and walked down the hallway to a red button. This wireless button was connected to a singular missile launcher on the eastern border of the Cholan Empire territories of the island. Once pressed, the nuke would be fired. He flipped up the glass cover. "No turning back now." The king pressed the button and went back upstairs. "Hey, Emperor Wither Storm, you may wanna take cover." he said as he returned to the meeting room.
At the eastern border, Chaos Legion infantrymen and Cholan Empire guards watched as a hole opened in the ground. Out of it, the highly-destructive nuclear missile Golden and her team had built for Elightin was launched. The missile flew over the Northern District and towards Castle Großmonsterstein in the GME Territories. There, the Emperor had gotten up from his throne room to look out the window and saw the incoming projectile. He frantically switched on the intercom. "EVERYONE, TAKE COVER!" he shouted. "A NUKE IS COMING TOWARDS THE CASTLE!" For the first time for many, he was showing true fear as he ran out of his room and down to a nuclear bunker beneath the castle as fast as possible. Back in the throne room, everyone had a mixed expression of joy and horror while looking at the smiling Elightin.
In the GME Territories, once the poison gas was fully removed from the air and it was declared safe to leave the bunkers, the GME began to get back on their feet. This attack didn't affect their combat effectiveness, as the Armed Forces were based further east in Castle Großergelandstein, but it was still considered an attempt on the lives of their government officials. An Imperial Committee was held in the ruins of the meeting room. Attending were the Emperor, Minister of Defense Marshal GrossDeimoStein, General Totenkriegstein, Head of the Armed Forces, and Professor Verwelkterstein, head of the Science Division. "What just happened?" the Marshal asked. "Elightin nuked us." the Emperor answered. "They will pay!" Totenkriegstein declared, slamming his fist on the table. "The important thing is that this hasn't affected our military and science projects." Verwelkterstein reminded the group. "Großergelandstein still stands. This merely destroyed the Emperor and Marshal's homes, as well as the homes of some of the Armed Forces, but they are small fraction of the countless troops that serve us. All of you can be relocated." "True." the Emperor agreed. "Now, as for our response... I suggest a retaliatory strike." "I'm in!" Totenkriegstein exclaimed excitedly. "I'll make the plans for the Great Retaliatory Strike of the GME Emperor." "That's what we're calling it?" Verwelkterstein commented. "Okay... Anyways, I have some viruses I've been cooking since they wiped out my beloved X-20." "That can be the back-up plan." the Marshal told him. "Don't we also have dirty bombs in storage? Why don't we use those?" "You are correct, Marshal." Verwelksterstein responded. "And we have chemical weapons that gas masks can barely protect you from. I've also been working on a prototype for a tectonic weapon that can cause earthquakes. Oh, and don't forget my Dark Iron Death Knights." "That's the one with the machine guns, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, and electric sphere blasters, right?" Totenkriegstein asked. He was writing everything down to put together a battle plan to later submit to the Marshal. "Doesn't matter. We're using them anyways. This will be an attack no one will forget..." "The Legion, Cholas, and Illagers will pay for what they've done to us." Verwelkterstein added. The Imperial Committee then laughed evilly before ending the meeting to get to work.
At the same time, the war council was taking stock of the situation. Cloud had pulled out of the war, not wanting to be involved with the legal proceedings that would eventually happen, leaving Si, IGE, Rob, and Illager to deal with Elightin. "I didn't think you'd actually do it." Si said, breaking the silence. "I thought it was just a joke." IGE added. "That nuke had poison gas in it! That's a war crime! We can't become the enemy!" "Look, they would've fired their own chemical nukes eventually." Elightin protested. "Plus, now their castle is in ruins. Isn't that good?" "Yeah, but the way it got ruined isn't." Illager responded. "And IGE, he committed two war crimes. He never got permission from the rest of us to fire that thing." Elightin groaned. "Rob?" he asked, looking for a friend. "Back me up here..." "Sorry, bud." Rob answered glumly. "I was all for this when we thought it was a joke, but, like they said, I didn't think you'd actually launch it. You crossed a line." "You think we can hold a trial on short notice?" Si whispered to IGE, leaning over to speak to him. "Probably." IGE whispered back. "I can preside over the case, seeing as I'm the only one with any legal training and this is a time of war." "Sounds good." Si responded. "I'll tell the others." When Elightin went to use the bathroom, Si told the others of the trial, and Rob broke the news to his old friend when he returned. "Fine." he said upon hearing the news. "I'll stand trial. I presume we're doing this at the local courthouse?" Rob nodded.
On short notice, Si, IGE, Rob, Golden, and Cat gathered at the Cat Courthouse. Elightin was brought forth by royal guards, and IGE sat on the bench. Cloud refused to come, and Illager was present as a hologram. A cameraman was present and broadcasting the entire trial live to all news networks. "King Elightin Elytra of the Cholan Empire, you have been brought here on charges of two violations of the PMC City Conventions." Judge IGEBM began. "The first is the use of chemical weapons in times of war, and the second is failure to gain approval from all members of your war council to launch the aforementioned chemical weapon. How do you plead?" Elightin took a moment to respond. He assumed everyone attending would be speaking against him, and realized there was no way out of his inevitable imprisonment. "Guilty." he responded. "Will the first witness please come to the stand?" IGE asked. Golden came forth. "When the war began, I was contacted by Elightin." she said. "His exact message was, 'Hey, Golden, could you build me a nuke full of poison gas to launch at the GME sometime during this war?' I reluctantly said yes, knowing I wouldn't be able to talk him out of it. Then, in the days leading up to today, me and my team built the missile, and he came to me today before the peace conference after I had told him it was done. My last action related to the nuke was sending it to the eastern border for launch." "Thank you." IGE said. "Next." Golden left, and Cat came up to the stand. After she finished, Rob came, and then Si, and after him, Illager. "Based on the statements given by these witnesses, I have found you guilty of your crimes." IGE said after a pause, slamming his gavel on the table. "You are hereby sentenced to 10 years in Thanjavur Prison." Elightin didn't say anything and allowed the guards to take him away.
After seeing the trial, Emperor Wither Storm II reconsidered the retaliatory strike, and ultimately ordered the Marshal to turn down Totenkriegstein's plan submission. The war entered an unofficial ceasefire, and the Mystical Forest Empire decided to cease involvement in the conflict. However, they maintained their alliance with the Great Monster Empire. A few hours after the trial, the Emperor demanded an official apology from everyone involved. IGE, knowing it would be hard for everyone to publicly speak about what became known as the Thanjavur Incident, began putting together a blog. He had the others give him their apologies to put on the blog, but some didn't actually submit apologies. While Elightin and IGE did so, Si, Illager, and, most prominently, Rob explained that this was essentially all Elightin's fault and they all thought it was a joke and didn't think he'd go through with it, which was true. The Emperor, after reading the blog, agreed with them.
Then, October 6th, a day after the nuking, while IGE was taking his mind off of things by listening to a war playlist of heavy metal songs he had put together a few days prior, he was contacted privately by Emperor Wither Storm, who said the following:
This conflict needs to be frozen and a ceasefire agreement signed. It will be a peace without a peace treaty. There can be no winners or losers in this conflict. In the end, this conflict has reached a dead end; if we begin to resolve this conflict with decisive measures, this will lead to mutual destruction. Not one of the parties failed to achieve their goals, draw.
IGE began to write a reply asking if this meant he was finally open to starting peace talks, to which the Emperor answered:
Yes, I'm planning peace . What will result in the end will be an honorable peace for both sides, a peace without annexations and indemnities that will return everything to the status quo that was before the start of the war.

The Real Thanjavur Incident
I guess you could say this is a history lesson for anyone reading this blog in the future, since I'm sure most of you reading this around the time that it came out know what happened. Basically, at the start of the war, Elightin had sent a message to the original war council PM (on it were me, Si, Cloud, Rob, and Golden) saying he had a plan to get the Emperor's IP from a Grabify link and use it as a "nuke" to end the war. Later that day, he sent the information obtained from the link to the chat. During negotiations in the "Official Negotiations: Thanjavur" PM, he made several jokes/threats saying he knew the Emperor's personal info, and on October 3rd, he posted it to the Chaos Legion's wall. Naturally, the Emperor reported it and one of the mods took it down while another banned Elightin for 10 years, something he informed us about the following day. In addition, the roleplay thread was locked. The demand for an apology was true, and as you can see for yourself down below, everything said in the apologies was also true. In all, this was a pretty messy part of the war and I guess it's just more proof that you can't have a war roleplay without some drama happening.
Update: On November 20th, Elightin announced to one of the war council PM chats (he was still active in PMs after his ban) that he was going to ask for his ban to be repealed. On November 29th, the almighty Cyprezz granted his wishes and he was unbanned! Long live the king of the Cholas!

While I will admit that it's hard to shake my "Legion equals good guys, GME equals bad guys" mentality while writing this series, I try my best. "That's the one with the machine guns, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, and electric sphere blasters, right?" Totenkriegstein asked. He was writing everything down to put together a battle plan to later submit to the Marshal. "Doesn't matter. We're using them anyways. This will be an attack no one will forget..." "The Legion, Cholas, and Illagers will pay for what they've done to us." Verwelkterstein added. The Imperial Committee then laughed evilly before ending the meeting to get to work.
At the same time, the war council was taking stock of the situation. Cloud had pulled out of the war, not wanting to be involved with the legal proceedings that would eventually happen, leaving Si, IGE, Rob, and Illager to deal with Elightin. "I didn't think you'd actually do it." Si said, breaking the silence. "I thought it was just a joke." IGE added. "That nuke had poison gas in it! That's a war crime! We can't become the enemy!" "Look, they would've fired their own chemical nukes eventually." Elightin protested. "Plus, now their castle is in ruins. Isn't that good?" "Yeah, but the way it got ruined isn't." Illager responded. "And IGE, he committed two war crimes. He never got permission from the rest of us to fire that thing." Elightin groaned. "Rob?" he asked, looking for a friend. "Back me up here..." "Sorry, bud." Rob answered glumly. "I was all for this when we thought it was a joke, but, like they said, I didn't think you'd actually launch it. You crossed a line." "You think we can hold a trial on short notice?" Si whispered to IGE, leaning over to speak to him. "Probably." IGE whispered back. "I can preside over the case, seeing as I'm the only one with any legal training and this is a time of war." "Sounds good." Si responded. "I'll tell the others." When Elightin went to use the bathroom, Si told the others of the trial, and Rob broke the news to his old friend when he returned. "Fine." he said upon hearing the news. "I'll stand trial. I presume we're doing this at the local courthouse?" Rob nodded.
On short notice, Si, IGE, Rob, Golden, and Cat gathered at the Cat Courthouse. Elightin was brought forth by royal guards, and IGE sat on the bench. Cloud refused to come, and Illager was present as a hologram. A cameraman was present and broadcasting the entire trial live to all news networks. "King Elightin Elytra of the Cholan Empire, you have been brought here on charges of two violations of the PMC City Conventions." Judge IGEBM began. "The first is the use of chemical weapons in times of war, and the second is failure to gain approval from all members of your war council to launch the aforementioned chemical weapon. How do you plead?" Elightin took a moment to respond. He assumed everyone attending would be speaking against him, and realized there was no way out of his inevitable imprisonment. "Guilty." he responded. "Will the first witness please come to the stand?" IGE asked. Golden came forth. "When the war began, I was contacted by Elightin." she said. "His exact message was, 'Hey, Golden, could you build me a nuke full of poison gas to launch at the GME sometime during this war?' I reluctantly said yes, knowing I wouldn't be able to talk him out of it. Then, in the days leading up to today, me and my team built the missile, and he came to me today before the peace conference after I had told him it was done. My last action related to the nuke was sending it to the eastern border for launch." "Thank you." IGE said. "Next." Golden left, and Cat came up to the stand. After she finished, Rob came, and then Si, and after him, Illager. "Based on the statements given by these witnesses, I have found you guilty of your crimes." IGE said after a pause, slamming his gavel on the table. "You are hereby sentenced to 10 years in Thanjavur Prison." Elightin didn't say anything and allowed the guards to take him away.
After seeing the trial, Emperor Wither Storm II reconsidered the retaliatory strike, and ultimately ordered the Marshal to turn down Totenkriegstein's plan submission. The war entered an unofficial ceasefire, and the Mystical Forest Empire decided to cease involvement in the conflict. However, they maintained their alliance with the Great Monster Empire. A few hours after the trial, the Emperor demanded an official apology from everyone involved. IGE, knowing it would be hard for everyone to publicly speak about what became known as the Thanjavur Incident, began putting together a blog. He had the others give him their apologies to put on the blog, but some didn't actually submit apologies. While Elightin and IGE did so, Si, Illager, and, most prominently, Rob explained that this was essentially all Elightin's fault and they all thought it was a joke and didn't think he'd go through with it, which was true. The Emperor, after reading the blog, agreed with them.
Then, October 6th, a day after the nuking, while IGE was taking his mind off of things by listening to a war playlist of heavy metal songs he had put together a few days prior, he was contacted privately by Emperor Wither Storm, who said the following:
This conflict needs to be frozen and a ceasefire agreement signed. It will be a peace without a peace treaty. There can be no winners or losers in this conflict. In the end, this conflict has reached a dead end; if we begin to resolve this conflict with decisive measures, this will lead to mutual destruction. Not one of the parties failed to achieve their goals, draw.
IGE began to write a reply asking if this meant he was finally open to starting peace talks, to which the Emperor answered:
Yes, I'm planning peace . What will result in the end will be an honorable peace for both sides, a peace without annexations and indemnities that will return everything to the status quo that was before the start of the war.
TO BE CONCLUDED IN "NO WINNERS, NO LOSERS!"

The Real Thanjavur Incident
I guess you could say this is a history lesson for anyone reading this blog in the future, since I'm sure most of you reading this around the time that it came out know what happened. Basically, at the start of the war, Elightin had sent a message to the original war council PM (on it were me, Si, Cloud, Rob, and Golden) saying he had a plan to get the Emperor's IP from a Grabify link and use it as a "nuke" to end the war. Later that day, he sent the information obtained from the link to the chat. During negotiations in the "Official Negotiations: Thanjavur" PM, he made several jokes/threats saying he knew the Emperor's personal info, and on October 3rd, he posted it to the Chaos Legion's wall. Naturally, the Emperor reported it and one of the mods took it down while another banned Elightin for 10 years, something he informed us about the following day. In addition, the roleplay thread was locked. The demand for an apology was true, and as you can see for yourself down below, everything said in the apologies was also true. In all, this was a pretty messy part of the war and I guess it's just more proof that you can't have a war roleplay without some drama happening.
Update: On November 20th, Elightin announced to one of the war council PM chats (he was still active in PMs after his ban) that he was going to ask for his ban to be repealed. On November 29th, the almighty Cyprezz granted his wishes and he was unbanned! Long live the king of the Cholas!

Disclaimer
This story is not in any way meant to paint any groups in a bad light. While I will admit that it's hard to shake my "Legion equals good guys, GME equals bad guys" mentality while writing this series, I try my best. If anyone thinks this is being biased by saying something about a "bad" thing one of the parties did, just know that I get all the major events from actual things that happened during the war (see the next section), and thus, it's not propaganda-like stuff, just facts.

the PMC City Convention is essentially PMC's version of all the documents that detail what things are war crimes
*the full name is the Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or Other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare
