It's only been a day since the start of the war between the Chaos Legion (and their ally, the Cholan Empire) and the Great Monster Empire. King Elightin Elytra and Field Marshall Rob have traveled from Thanjavur to the Capital District to join Anarchist Si and Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Cloud at the Chaos Center, and Supreme Commanding Legionmaster IGEBM has teleported away to a hidden bunker. The Astral Beasts have largely ceased attacking the island, as they sensed the nukes flying towards it and turned towards attacking other islands, leaving the Legion to fend off the GME.
"So Violiie and Echo are busy protecting PMC from the Astral Beasts?" Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Cloudkitty asked. Miniature holograms of Supreme Commanding Legionmaster IGEBM and Dr. Golden stood on the holo-table in the center of the room. Standing around the table were Cloud, Anarchist Si, King Elightin Elytra of the Cholan Empire, and Field Marshall Rob. "Yeah, they're working on it with the people stationed at the off-island bases." IGE responded. Golden didn't speak, as she was busy working on something on her datapad. Cloud had set up this war council to discuss battle plans. "Any plan suggestions?" he asked, looking up at the rest of the council. "I could nuke them." Elightin suggested. "The science division is working on some missiles as we speak, but there's one that's exceptionally powerful. All I'd have to do is lock on to the coordinates of the GME castle and boom, they're done for." "The fact that you're able to do that kinda scares me, but this is the perfect weapon." IGE comments. "What about spies? I have a few contacts." "Good idea." Rob said. An alarm went off on Cloud's communicator, prompting him to raise his arm to look at it. "I've gotta run!" he said, turning around and rushing to the doors. "What is it?" Si asked. "Part of my district's been nuked!" Cloud responded, running out the door. He hurried downstairs and made his way to the train station, taking a hovertrain to the Western District. As he sat down on the train, he raised his arm again and began to make an announcement to everyone in the district. "Attention, everyone." he began. "All citizens are ordered to stay inside. All soldiers are ordered to put on their radiation wear and begin to clean things up. I'll be there soon to survey the damage." He himself then started to put on his radiation suit and mask, before getting up to start to telling everyone onboard about the situation.
Not too far away, on Hell's Island, 100 feet beneath the ruins of the city, IGE sits in his bunker. It's a medium-sized facility equipped with a large food supply, three suspended animation tanks, an armory, and a main room, where IGE's desk is located. On the desk are numerous monitors, which he uses to keep an eye on things around the world. He has his holo-communicator on pause, which means his hologram his frozen and muted. "I never wanted this." the Supreme Commanding Legionmaster said to himself as the world around (or rather, above) crumbled. "I just wanted peace." He looked up at his monitors and saw PMC News Network and Illager Island News Company broadcasts giving live updates on the war. Several drones showed overhead footage of the damaged part of the Western District, where repair crews were removing the shrapnel. Clean-up crews were simultaneously clearing the blocked-off area of radiation and making sure it didn't spread. "Some people don't expect peace." a female voice said behind him.
Rose, a half-wolf citizen of the GME, stepped out from her hiding spot. She had pink hair with a red streak and was dressed in casual wear. IGE turned around and got up from his chair, generating a knife out of hard light behind his back. "I have a feeling you know there’s a knife in my hand behind my back, but it’s just a precaution." he said, nervous. "What do you want?" "A knife?" Rose answered. "Why? I don't want anything. I've been watching this war just like you've been. Which place are you a part of?" "Legion." IGE responded. "And, as I said, the knife is a precaution. Trust issues with people I don't know. Are you with the GME or us? Or neutral?" "GME civilian." Rose replied. "Well, you're not in the military, but you're still with them." IGE quietly said to himself, before looking up at his visitor. "Why are you here?" "I'm sneaking around finding all of the secret bunkers here." she answered. "If you know the location of this bunker, I'm gonna have to incapacitate you to prevent anyone else from finding it." IGE said. He attempted to knock her out and put her in a suspended animation tank, but she slid under his legs and quickly ran off. As she left, IGE fired the last charge from his nudge gun at here, unknowingly erasing her memory of the bunker's location.
In the Ministry of Defense tower of Castle Großmonsterstein, Minister of Defense Marshal GrossDeimosStein studied a map of Anarchy Island and the GME Territories, planning a large-scale chemical attack. His phone rang, and he answered. "Marshal!" Emperor Wither Storm II said on the other end. "I demand a nuclear strike on the Cholan Empire!" "Yes, my liege." the Marshal responded. "I'll follow the order." He hung up and contacted one of his generals, ordering a missile strike. Several hypersonic nukes were fired at cities in the Cholan Empire-controlled territories of Anarchy Island, and they hit, causing massive damage and hundreds of deaths. Elightin saw the explosions in the window of Chaos Center and grinned. "Too bad those are fake cities." he scoffed. "Guess the Marshal's never heard of a hypersonic metacity." Back in the castle, Air Military Officer Rylu walked in and saw the Marshal planning the chemical strike. "Marshal, do I have permission to start attacking from the air?" she asked in a calm but quickened tone, her wings spreading a little bit. "I could buy some time for the chemical attack." The Marshal nodded yes, and Rylu excitedly ran out to take flight. She flew towards the Western District, armed with an advanced bow and chemical arrows.
Cloud oversaw the repair and clean-up crews doing their job, as Squads One and Three stood guard, as well as a few other soldiers who hadn't been assigned to any squads. Rylu, followed by nine other Air Military Officers, arrived and opened fire. Cloud drew his longbow and axe. "Protect the workers!" he ordered. The soldiers drew their plasma rifles and began to fire back, knocking two officers out of the sky. Toast and Milkshake went to finish one off, while the other was taken out by Legit, Sunshine, and the Kirbalorian. Shadow teleported into the air above an officer and kicked them to the ground. She then teleported down to finish him off. Charlie hid behind a piece of rubble from one of the buildings, holding a small knife, her mind racing. "What do I do?" she asked herself, panicking. "What do I do? What do I do? I don't even have a squad to lead..." Cloud saw her as he swung his axe towards the fourth officer, who had come down to attack her. "Charlie, congrats!" he said. "I'm promoting you to Commanding Infantryman of Squad Three!" "Yipee!" Charlie cheered, getting up. She found Psio, Nether, and Tyger and joined them in the fight. (The last Infantryman, Flamingo, was chatting with a GME soldier named Orangey in PMC City, as they were both there on missions.) Battlemaster LBoomsky came over to help them as well. "Begone, Rylu!" Cloud said, firing an arrow at her enemy's shoulder. She dodged it and dove down to attack her, but jerked back when Charlie threw her knife into her other shoulder. "You win this one, kitty-cat." the Air Military Officer said, turning away and weakly flying away. The surviving officers followed her. "We'll be back."
In the Eastern District, part-ghost Ground Military Officer FIo turned invisible with a knife in hand. They wandered around the battlefield, looking for a target, but it was hard to hide, as the floating knife gave them away. Rylu and her team flew overhead and saw the knife, prompting Rylu to land near them. "FIo, come on!" she said, grabbing her fellow GME soldier's wrist and dragging her into the air. "We need to get to the Emperor and Marshal quick!" Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Greief and the troops under his command began to notice that all the GME soldiers were going back to their home. "What's going on?" he asked himself, putting his plasma gatling gun in the holster on his back. His communicator beeped, and he answered. "What is it, Storm?" "Tell all your men to get inside!" the Legionmaster responded. "Our scanners have detected 100 missiles flying towards the island!" "Crap!" Greief said. "EVERYONE INSIDE! MISSILES INCOMING!" All of the soldiers began to rush inside, closing all the doors and windows and taking cover in the basements of the buildings. The missile defense system was able to shoot down 80 missiles, but that left 20 to maintain their course. Across Anarchy Island, the missiles hit, but instead of exploding with nuclear energy, they released the X-20 virus, a deadly and highly-contagious bioweapon engineered in the secret underground laboratories of the Great Monster Empire.
In the Southern District, Chief Medical Officer BookWyrm begins to panic. "They're dropping like flies out there!" he says to himself, worried. He is pacing back and forth in one of the wards of the Anarchy Island Primary Hospital. Outside, those exposed to the X-20 virus are spreading it and causing countless deaths in a matter of minutes. Luckily, the majority of the island was alerted to the incoming missiles by Storm and the tech/communications department, but some couldn't make it inside in time. In his bunker, IGE watched the virus spread, safe from it due to being underground and not even being on the same island. The Supreme Commanding Legionmaster began to look for a cure for X-20. He sent out 10 drones, which flew out to parts of Anarchy Island and gathered samples of the virus from the infected, the dead, and the air. The drones gathered data and sent it back to IGE's computers, which allowed him to make a file on the virus:

The X-20 virus is a bioweapon presumably created by the scientists of the Great Monster Empire. It was first used on day 2 of the PMC World War, when the GME launched 100 missiles containing the virus at Anarchy Island. The missile defense system knocked down 80, but the other 20 hit various parts of the island. Legionmaster Storm warned beforehand that the missiles were coming, thinking they were nuclear ones, so most people were safe inside and didn't get infected. The virus itself appears to strike important parts of the immune system, rapidly destroying it, before moving on to attack the vital organs. Soon, the heart stops pumping blood and the nervous system is fractured, killing the victim. It can be spread through all openings in the PMCer body, as well as by mere touch. There is currently no vaccine for it.
"No vaccine... yet." IGE said with a smirk as finished typing up the file and adding it to the "GME Weapons" folder in the Chaos Legion archives (a sub-folder of the "Enemy Weapons" and "Great Monster Empire" folders). "Now, to start engineering a vaccine." After several hours, a green light appeared on one of his computer screens, along with the text "VACCINE SYNTHESIZED." "YES!" the writer cheered. 100 syringes containing the cure came out of the vaccine synthesizer, which IGE divided into six. Six boxes, each containing 16 syringes, were brought by drones to the six parts of Anarchy Island, and 4 were kept by IGE for emergencies. Within the next half hour, all trace of the X-20 virus had been eliminated from the island (and its file was updated accordingly). "Your move, GME." IGE said. "Your move."
Marshal GrossDeimosStein and Air Military Officer Rylu watched it happen from the observatory of their castle. "They- they cured it." Rylu said, shocked. "But how... there was no known cure for it..." "The virus has been completely eliminated?" GrossDeimosStein asked rhetorically, before laughing evilly. "Our scientists envisioned this outcome. The X-20 virus is a special virus, a super virus thanks to our technology. This virus is very insidious. The vaccine can only temporarily weaken it and it will appear to be destroyed. In fact, this virus will mutate, gain immunity to the vaccine and become even stronger. The vaccine will only make it stronger." Unbeknownst to him, the vaccine synthesizer had picked that up the genetic makeup of the virus and found a way to combat it. "If you don't me asking, sir, what part of negotiations didn't work out?" Rylu asked as they watched the GME forces head back to Anarchy Island. "The Legion used this negotiation to buy time." the Marshal answered. "If the Monster Empire had not made a preemptive strike, then the Cholan Empire and the Chaos Legion would have attacked us."
In the Northern District, not too long after Storm has notified everyone that's it's safe to go outside, Battlemasters Clay and Diiby were standing ready to battle the returning GME soldiers. Soon, the monsters arrived. "Open fire!" Diiby ordered. "Why don't I get to ever say it?" Clay asked. "'Cause I'm cooler." Diiby responded with a smirk. "I'm a flippin' skeleton pirate!" Clay retorted, gunning down a zombie with his plasma rifles (one of which was a beam rifle). Diiby bisected one with his custom-forged rapier, and the infantrymen behind them were shooting down enemy troops left and right. However, the GME soon gained the upper hand as more transport crafts began to dock. "We're being outnumbered!" Clay shouted, shooting a skeleton right in the face. "They're close enough for me to make point-blank shots!" Diiby decapitated a creeper and threw one of their grenades into the crowd, blowing up a fair amount of the soldiers and scattering the others. As if to make things worse, an Astral Beast foot soldier came out of the shadows of an alleyway and rushed towards Clay. It was quickly gunned down by a crossbow, and the Legion soldiers turned to see an Illager Clan squad led by Captain Spellmaker! "Men, move out!" the enchanter ordered. He opened his tome and began to mutter in an ancient tongue. All of them, including members of the Chaos Legion, were surrounded with purple energy, and they felt stronger. Sure enough, they were, and they began to cleave through the GME troops. "Where were you guys?" Clay asked Spellmaker as they fought. "We've been waiting on our transport ship a few miles away for the past 3 and half hours." the captain answered. "And you didn't come to help us?" Diiby commented, surprised. "We were waiting for Illager to give the greenlight for us to go in since he himself was waiting for an update on the status of the X-20 virus." Spellmaker responded. "After all, we wouldn't want to get infected." "Ah." Clay said, nodding as he shot a pair of endermen. "I wonder what Piaccu thinks of the endermen serving the Emperor..." "He probably doesn't care." Diiby answered. "The End and Nether pulled out of the conflict as soon as the Astral Beasts arrived." "True, true." Spellmaker said.
The GME soon began the next stage of the war, that being Operation: Nuclear Inquisition. With the Marshal's order and the Emperor's approval, 100 nuclear missiles were launched at Anarchy Island. "Raise the shields!" IGE said in his bunker to the war council. Storm, hearing the order from his cubicle, raised the missile defense shields, creating an impenetrable dome around the island for 30 minutes. While some shrapnel fell through it, this dome protected the island and everyone on it from the destruction that would be caused by the Great Monster Empire's nukes, and by the time it lowered, the toxins would be gone from the air. Unfortunately, this was not the end. Marshal GrossDeimosStein waited intently for the shield dome to descend, and once it started to, he had 10 more missiles be launched. "Let's see if this works..." IGE quietly said to himself. Excited and nervous to test his theory, he remotely diverted some of the emergency power generators to the shields, raising them for another 30 minutes. While this happened, the missile defense system knocked the missiles out of the sky and sending them plummeting down into the sea. "Now, for the bombing run. Storm, you're up!" Storm ran a program sending 5 bomber planes on autopilot over the nuclear missile storage depots in the GME Territories. They successfully blew up all of their enemy's nukes... or so they thought, because, once the dome lowered for the final time, 20 missiles were sent towards the island. The defense system got 18, but 2 struck the Eastern District. Greief and his men, were, thankfully, holed up in a bunker after being outnumbered. "Shitake mushrooms!" IGE shouted, slamming his desk. "They got part of the East District!" Rylu watched the destruction beside the Marshal in the observatory. "Sir, we just lost a good amount of our troops in that strike." she said. "Eh, minor casualties." GrossDeimosStein responded. "We have thousands more like them." He walked downstairs to return to his office and make an announcement. "Illager, on behalf of my Emperor, I demand that the Illagers withdraw from the war and adhere to strict neutrality." he said. Recording equipment had been set up in his office while he was with Rylu, and the message was being broadcast on pirated airwaves across Anarchy and Illager Island. "If you do not comply with our demands, your island will be attacked with biological, chemical, nuclear, radiological, and climatic weapons. In case you agree and withdraw from the war, the Monster Empire will not infringe on your independence and territorial integrity. I give you my word as an officer. I hope you will make the right choice." Illager soon issued a response, stating that he would not comply. IGE messaged him on his communicator telling him to raise his shields, to which Arch Illager responded that they had stolen some basic anti-aircraft technology that they would use to defend themselves. He had also issued an order for 20 nuclear bunkers to built.
On Illager Island, the Illagers had dug trenches in preparation for the incoming enemy forces. Two pillagers equipped with flaming arrows waited by the docks. The enemy transport ships drew closer, and when they were almost there, the pillagers fired their crossbows into the air and ran towards the trenches. The GME troops arrived and started to make their way towards them as well. "Illagers, attack!" Illager ordered, waving a flag in the air. "Fight like there's no tomorrow!" The enchanters strengthened their allies as the evokers summoned fangs and vexes. Axe-wielding vindicators rode into battle atop monstrous ravagers, clearing the path for pillagers to finish off their foes with crossbows. The illusioners caused confusion with their clones, distracting them long enough for the wind callers to sweep them away with powerful gusts of air. Pillagers in the trenches lobbed grenades, blowing up groups of GME soldiers. Illager was there as well, contemplating what to do next. Suddenly, someone appeared behind him. "Hi!" she said. "Watcha doing?" "Who are you?" Illager asked, rapidly aiming his crossbow at her and charging. "Don't worry, I'm not in the military!" the half-wolf answered. "I'm Rose, the Blood Ultimate!" "Oh." Illager said, slowly lowering his weapon. "Why are you here then? This is an active warzone." He gestured to the battle behind them. "'Cause warzones are awesome!" Rose responded. Illager nodded and fired another arrow at an approaching zombie. Rose grabbed his crossbow out of his hand and broke it in half. Two pillagers rushed over and aimed their crossbows at her, and four vindicators also arrived, axes ready. Rose transformed into a huge and powerful wolf, drawing the attention of soldiers in the trenches. They began to attack her as Illager moved back. Royal Guardsmen who were further back arrived on the scene and swung their maces. Rose howled and charged through the guards and onto the battlefield. "What in the name of Cyprezz just happened?" Illager asked as they all watched the massive wolf charge through everyone. "Where is she going?" That question was not answered, as Rose dove into the water and vanished. Illager's communicator began to beep.
As this battle happened, IGE had drones set up cameras on Illager Island to watch. At the same time, he called Marshal GrossDeimosStein. "Why should they surrender?" he asked. "You can't demand that. Truth be told, you two just sound scared that, with the Illagers helping us, you're gonna lose." "Do you really think we're afraid?" the Marshal retorted. "We will continue the war even if the whole of the PMC is against us! We're not afraid to bring about the apocalypse. In addition, we are preparing for defense. Soon, the entire territory of the Empire will be one large powerful fortified area, and if you try to storm it, the PMC forces will suffer losses that the PMC has never seen in its history." "Then we won't storm it." IGE said. " Simple. But be warned: if you try to attack us, we will fight back. The rest of this world doesn’t have to - in fact, it doesn’t deserve to - suffer for your leader’s paranoia. You should really consider a coup. Think about it, GrossDeimosStein: under your rule, the Great Monster Empire could make peace with other nations. Together, we could rebuild PMC in harmony, and then we’d leave you and your monsters alone if you wanted us to. Oh, hey Illager." Apparently, he had accidentally added Illager to the call while selecting contacts, and the Arch had joined just as IGE finished his sentence. "In the history of the Empire, not a single officer has ever rebelled against the emperor!" GrossDeimosStein protested. "We swore an oath to him! Any rebellion or coup will be crushed!" "That's what they said about the former Arch." Illager said. "Now look who's in charge! Apparently power changes hands easily." "Indeed." IGE commented, eating an Oreo. "Oaths can be broken. Especially when, according to national laws - which, may I remind you, all nations must follow, no matter their government or hierarchy - if a person is mentally unfit to lead, they may be removed from power." He was referring to the rumors the Marshal had told the war council the previous night about how the Emperor had started the war because he had forgotten to take his schizophrenia pills. Marshal GrossDeimosStein paused and thought about it: should he stage a coup?

Why I Love This Chapter
Yes, I know this is only the second chapter and none of the ones after have been written yet, but I still wanna talk about why I love this one. The majority of the world war for me was political stuff, as I was part of the war council and Chaos Legion high command (I'm an SCL), but I still participated in the roleplay a lot. However, the majority of the roleplay on threads was us defending ourselves against GME missile strikes, with the occasional set of comments about fighting. With this chapter, I got to go into more detail about what was happening across Anarchy Island (and Illager Island) during the war. The Western District stuff was already kinda set, since the nuking of it was in the roleplay, but the stuff that happened in the other districts was stuff I got to come up with myself, which I really enjoyed. I also like how the chapter alternates between intense fighting scenes and calm stuff, like Rylu and the Marshal observing the battle. Anyways, I just wanted to write that little paragraph about how I like this chapter. Hope you liked it too!

This story is not in any way meant to paint any groups in a bad light. While I will admit that it's hard to shake my "Legion equals good guys, GME equals bad guys" mentality while writing this series, I try my best. If anyone thinks this is being biased by saying something about a "bad" thing one of the parties did, just know that I get all the major events from actual things that happened during the war (see the next section), and thus, it's not propaganda-like stuff, just facts.

Fun (?) Fact
Marshal GrossDeimosStein informed me in our private negotiation chat (where we've been talking about relations between the Legion and GME) of a plan the GME had come up with to respond to the Illager Clan entering the war:
"When the Illager Clan entered the war, the GME command began to develop the so-called military operation, code-named 'Radioactive Waltz of Death', it was a plan for radiological warfare. According to the plan of this operation, the Imperial Air Force was supposed to drop cobalt bombs on Illager Island, according to the calculation of the command, this operation was supposed to cause serious radiation infection of the island, but this plan remained on the shelves.For some reason the Emperor did not give permission to begin this operation."

So, as you can see, the GME was apparently planning to bomb the Illagers and spread radiation. I tried to find a way to write this in, but couldn't, so it's included here as a fun (?) fact.

"So Violiie and Echo are busy protecting PMC from the Astral Beasts?" Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Cloudkitty asked. Miniature holograms of Supreme Commanding Legionmaster IGEBM and Dr. Golden stood on the holo-table in the center of the room. Standing around the table were Cloud, Anarchist Si, King Elightin Elytra of the Cholan Empire, and Field Marshall Rob. "Yeah, they're working on it with the people stationed at the off-island bases." IGE responded. Golden didn't speak, as she was busy working on something on her datapad. Cloud had set up this war council to discuss battle plans. "Any plan suggestions?" he asked, looking up at the rest of the council. "I could nuke them." Elightin suggested. "The science division is working on some missiles as we speak, but there's one that's exceptionally powerful. All I'd have to do is lock on to the coordinates of the GME castle and boom, they're done for." "The fact that you're able to do that kinda scares me, but this is the perfect weapon." IGE comments. "What about spies? I have a few contacts." "Good idea." Rob said. An alarm went off on Cloud's communicator, prompting him to raise his arm to look at it. "I've gotta run!" he said, turning around and rushing to the doors. "What is it?" Si asked. "Part of my district's been nuked!" Cloud responded, running out the door. He hurried downstairs and made his way to the train station, taking a hovertrain to the Western District. As he sat down on the train, he raised his arm again and began to make an announcement to everyone in the district. "Attention, everyone." he began. "All citizens are ordered to stay inside. All soldiers are ordered to put on their radiation wear and begin to clean things up. I'll be there soon to survey the damage." He himself then started to put on his radiation suit and mask, before getting up to start to telling everyone onboard about the situation.
Not too far away, on Hell's Island, 100 feet beneath the ruins of the city, IGE sits in his bunker. It's a medium-sized facility equipped with a large food supply, three suspended animation tanks, an armory, and a main room, where IGE's desk is located. On the desk are numerous monitors, which he uses to keep an eye on things around the world. He has his holo-communicator on pause, which means his hologram his frozen and muted. "I never wanted this." the Supreme Commanding Legionmaster said to himself as the world around (or rather, above) crumbled. "I just wanted peace." He looked up at his monitors and saw PMC News Network and Illager Island News Company broadcasts giving live updates on the war. Several drones showed overhead footage of the damaged part of the Western District, where repair crews were removing the shrapnel. Clean-up crews were simultaneously clearing the blocked-off area of radiation and making sure it didn't spread. "Some people don't expect peace." a female voice said behind him.
Rose, a half-wolf citizen of the GME, stepped out from her hiding spot. She had pink hair with a red streak and was dressed in casual wear. IGE turned around and got up from his chair, generating a knife out of hard light behind his back. "I have a feeling you know there’s a knife in my hand behind my back, but it’s just a precaution." he said, nervous. "What do you want?" "A knife?" Rose answered. "Why? I don't want anything. I've been watching this war just like you've been. Which place are you a part of?" "Legion." IGE responded. "And, as I said, the knife is a precaution. Trust issues with people I don't know. Are you with the GME or us? Or neutral?" "GME civilian." Rose replied. "Well, you're not in the military, but you're still with them." IGE quietly said to himself, before looking up at his visitor. "Why are you here?" "I'm sneaking around finding all of the secret bunkers here." she answered. "If you know the location of this bunker, I'm gonna have to incapacitate you to prevent anyone else from finding it." IGE said. He attempted to knock her out and put her in a suspended animation tank, but she slid under his legs and quickly ran off. As she left, IGE fired the last charge from his nudge gun at here, unknowingly erasing her memory of the bunker's location.
In the Ministry of Defense tower of Castle Großmonsterstein, Minister of Defense Marshal GrossDeimosStein studied a map of Anarchy Island and the GME Territories, planning a large-scale chemical attack. His phone rang, and he answered. "Marshal!" Emperor Wither Storm II said on the other end. "I demand a nuclear strike on the Cholan Empire!" "Yes, my liege." the Marshal responded. "I'll follow the order." He hung up and contacted one of his generals, ordering a missile strike. Several hypersonic nukes were fired at cities in the Cholan Empire-controlled territories of Anarchy Island, and they hit, causing massive damage and hundreds of deaths. Elightin saw the explosions in the window of Chaos Center and grinned. "Too bad those are fake cities." he scoffed. "Guess the Marshal's never heard of a hypersonic metacity." Back in the castle, Air Military Officer Rylu walked in and saw the Marshal planning the chemical strike. "Marshal, do I have permission to start attacking from the air?" she asked in a calm but quickened tone, her wings spreading a little bit. "I could buy some time for the chemical attack." The Marshal nodded yes, and Rylu excitedly ran out to take flight. She flew towards the Western District, armed with an advanced bow and chemical arrows.
Cloud oversaw the repair and clean-up crews doing their job, as Squads One and Three stood guard, as well as a few other soldiers who hadn't been assigned to any squads. Rylu, followed by nine other Air Military Officers, arrived and opened fire. Cloud drew his longbow and axe. "Protect the workers!" he ordered. The soldiers drew their plasma rifles and began to fire back, knocking two officers out of the sky. Toast and Milkshake went to finish one off, while the other was taken out by Legit, Sunshine, and the Kirbalorian. Shadow teleported into the air above an officer and kicked them to the ground. She then teleported down to finish him off. Charlie hid behind a piece of rubble from one of the buildings, holding a small knife, her mind racing. "What do I do?" she asked herself, panicking. "What do I do? What do I do? I don't even have a squad to lead..." Cloud saw her as he swung his axe towards the fourth officer, who had come down to attack her. "Charlie, congrats!" he said. "I'm promoting you to Commanding Infantryman of Squad Three!" "Yipee!" Charlie cheered, getting up. She found Psio, Nether, and Tyger and joined them in the fight. (The last Infantryman, Flamingo, was chatting with a GME soldier named Orangey in PMC City, as they were both there on missions.) Battlemaster LBoomsky came over to help them as well. "Begone, Rylu!" Cloud said, firing an arrow at her enemy's shoulder. She dodged it and dove down to attack her, but jerked back when Charlie threw her knife into her other shoulder. "You win this one, kitty-cat." the Air Military Officer said, turning away and weakly flying away. The surviving officers followed her. "We'll be back."
In the Eastern District, part-ghost Ground Military Officer FIo turned invisible with a knife in hand. They wandered around the battlefield, looking for a target, but it was hard to hide, as the floating knife gave them away. Rylu and her team flew overhead and saw the knife, prompting Rylu to land near them. "FIo, come on!" she said, grabbing her fellow GME soldier's wrist and dragging her into the air. "We need to get to the Emperor and Marshal quick!" Supreme Commanding Legionmaster Greief and the troops under his command began to notice that all the GME soldiers were going back to their home. "What's going on?" he asked himself, putting his plasma gatling gun in the holster on his back. His communicator beeped, and he answered. "What is it, Storm?" "Tell all your men to get inside!" the Legionmaster responded. "Our scanners have detected 100 missiles flying towards the island!" "Crap!" Greief said. "EVERYONE INSIDE! MISSILES INCOMING!" All of the soldiers began to rush inside, closing all the doors and windows and taking cover in the basements of the buildings. The missile defense system was able to shoot down 80 missiles, but that left 20 to maintain their course. Across Anarchy Island, the missiles hit, but instead of exploding with nuclear energy, they released the X-20 virus, a deadly and highly-contagious bioweapon engineered in the secret underground laboratories of the Great Monster Empire.
In the Southern District, Chief Medical Officer BookWyrm begins to panic. "They're dropping like flies out there!" he says to himself, worried. He is pacing back and forth in one of the wards of the Anarchy Island Primary Hospital. Outside, those exposed to the X-20 virus are spreading it and causing countless deaths in a matter of minutes. Luckily, the majority of the island was alerted to the incoming missiles by Storm and the tech/communications department, but some couldn't make it inside in time. In his bunker, IGE watched the virus spread, safe from it due to being underground and not even being on the same island. The Supreme Commanding Legionmaster began to look for a cure for X-20. He sent out 10 drones, which flew out to parts of Anarchy Island and gathered samples of the virus from the infected, the dead, and the air. The drones gathered data and sent it back to IGE's computers, which allowed him to make a file on the virus:

The X-20 virus is a bioweapon presumably created by the scientists of the Great Monster Empire. It was first used on day 2 of the PMC World War, when the GME launched 100 missiles containing the virus at Anarchy Island. The missile defense system knocked down 80, but the other 20 hit various parts of the island. Legionmaster Storm warned beforehand that the missiles were coming, thinking they were nuclear ones, so most people were safe inside and didn't get infected. The virus itself appears to strike important parts of the immune system, rapidly destroying it, before moving on to attack the vital organs. Soon, the heart stops pumping blood and the nervous system is fractured, killing the victim. It can be spread through all openings in the PMCer body, as well as by mere touch. There is currently no vaccine for it.
"No vaccine... yet." IGE said with a smirk as finished typing up the file and adding it to the "GME Weapons" folder in the Chaos Legion archives (a sub-folder of the "Enemy Weapons" and "Great Monster Empire" folders). "Now, to start engineering a vaccine." After several hours, a green light appeared on one of his computer screens, along with the text "VACCINE SYNTHESIZED." "YES!" the writer cheered. 100 syringes containing the cure came out of the vaccine synthesizer, which IGE divided into six. Six boxes, each containing 16 syringes, were brought by drones to the six parts of Anarchy Island, and 4 were kept by IGE for emergencies. Within the next half hour, all trace of the X-20 virus had been eliminated from the island (and its file was updated accordingly). "Your move, GME." IGE said. "Your move."
Marshal GrossDeimosStein and Air Military Officer Rylu watched it happen from the observatory of their castle. "They- they cured it." Rylu said, shocked. "But how... there was no known cure for it..." "The virus has been completely eliminated?" GrossDeimosStein asked rhetorically, before laughing evilly. "Our scientists envisioned this outcome. The X-20 virus is a special virus, a super virus thanks to our technology. This virus is very insidious. The vaccine can only temporarily weaken it and it will appear to be destroyed. In fact, this virus will mutate, gain immunity to the vaccine and become even stronger. The vaccine will only make it stronger." Unbeknownst to him, the vaccine synthesizer had picked that up the genetic makeup of the virus and found a way to combat it. "If you don't me asking, sir, what part of negotiations didn't work out?" Rylu asked as they watched the GME forces head back to Anarchy Island. "The Legion used this negotiation to buy time." the Marshal answered. "If the Monster Empire had not made a preemptive strike, then the Cholan Empire and the Chaos Legion would have attacked us."
In the Northern District, not too long after Storm has notified everyone that's it's safe to go outside, Battlemasters Clay and Diiby were standing ready to battle the returning GME soldiers. Soon, the monsters arrived. "Open fire!" Diiby ordered. "Why don't I get to ever say it?" Clay asked. "'Cause I'm cooler." Diiby responded with a smirk. "I'm a flippin' skeleton pirate!" Clay retorted, gunning down a zombie with his plasma rifles (one of which was a beam rifle). Diiby bisected one with his custom-forged rapier, and the infantrymen behind them were shooting down enemy troops left and right. However, the GME soon gained the upper hand as more transport crafts began to dock. "We're being outnumbered!" Clay shouted, shooting a skeleton right in the face. "They're close enough for me to make point-blank shots!" Diiby decapitated a creeper and threw one of their grenades into the crowd, blowing up a fair amount of the soldiers and scattering the others. As if to make things worse, an Astral Beast foot soldier came out of the shadows of an alleyway and rushed towards Clay. It was quickly gunned down by a crossbow, and the Legion soldiers turned to see an Illager Clan squad led by Captain Spellmaker! "Men, move out!" the enchanter ordered. He opened his tome and began to mutter in an ancient tongue. All of them, including members of the Chaos Legion, were surrounded with purple energy, and they felt stronger. Sure enough, they were, and they began to cleave through the GME troops. "Where were you guys?" Clay asked Spellmaker as they fought. "We've been waiting on our transport ship a few miles away for the past 3 and half hours." the captain answered. "And you didn't come to help us?" Diiby commented, surprised. "We were waiting for Illager to give the greenlight for us to go in since he himself was waiting for an update on the status of the X-20 virus." Spellmaker responded. "After all, we wouldn't want to get infected." "Ah." Clay said, nodding as he shot a pair of endermen. "I wonder what Piaccu thinks of the endermen serving the Emperor..." "He probably doesn't care." Diiby answered. "The End and Nether pulled out of the conflict as soon as the Astral Beasts arrived." "True, true." Spellmaker said.
The GME soon began the next stage of the war, that being Operation: Nuclear Inquisition. With the Marshal's order and the Emperor's approval, 100 nuclear missiles were launched at Anarchy Island. "Raise the shields!" IGE said in his bunker to the war council. Storm, hearing the order from his cubicle, raised the missile defense shields, creating an impenetrable dome around the island for 30 minutes. While some shrapnel fell through it, this dome protected the island and everyone on it from the destruction that would be caused by the Great Monster Empire's nukes, and by the time it lowered, the toxins would be gone from the air. Unfortunately, this was not the end. Marshal GrossDeimosStein waited intently for the shield dome to descend, and once it started to, he had 10 more missiles be launched. "Let's see if this works..." IGE quietly said to himself. Excited and nervous to test his theory, he remotely diverted some of the emergency power generators to the shields, raising them for another 30 minutes. While this happened, the missile defense system knocked the missiles out of the sky and sending them plummeting down into the sea. "Now, for the bombing run. Storm, you're up!" Storm ran a program sending 5 bomber planes on autopilot over the nuclear missile storage depots in the GME Territories. They successfully blew up all of their enemy's nukes... or so they thought, because, once the dome lowered for the final time, 20 missiles were sent towards the island. The defense system got 18, but 2 struck the Eastern District. Greief and his men, were, thankfully, holed up in a bunker after being outnumbered. "Shitake mushrooms!" IGE shouted, slamming his desk. "They got part of the East District!" Rylu watched the destruction beside the Marshal in the observatory. "Sir, we just lost a good amount of our troops in that strike." she said. "Eh, minor casualties." GrossDeimosStein responded. "We have thousands more like them." He walked downstairs to return to his office and make an announcement. "Illager, on behalf of my Emperor, I demand that the Illagers withdraw from the war and adhere to strict neutrality." he said. Recording equipment had been set up in his office while he was with Rylu, and the message was being broadcast on pirated airwaves across Anarchy and Illager Island. "If you do not comply with our demands, your island will be attacked with biological, chemical, nuclear, radiological, and climatic weapons. In case you agree and withdraw from the war, the Monster Empire will not infringe on your independence and territorial integrity. I give you my word as an officer. I hope you will make the right choice." Illager soon issued a response, stating that he would not comply. IGE messaged him on his communicator telling him to raise his shields, to which Arch Illager responded that they had stolen some basic anti-aircraft technology that they would use to defend themselves. He had also issued an order for 20 nuclear bunkers to built.
On Illager Island, the Illagers had dug trenches in preparation for the incoming enemy forces. Two pillagers equipped with flaming arrows waited by the docks. The enemy transport ships drew closer, and when they were almost there, the pillagers fired their crossbows into the air and ran towards the trenches. The GME troops arrived and started to make their way towards them as well. "Illagers, attack!" Illager ordered, waving a flag in the air. "Fight like there's no tomorrow!" The enchanters strengthened their allies as the evokers summoned fangs and vexes. Axe-wielding vindicators rode into battle atop monstrous ravagers, clearing the path for pillagers to finish off their foes with crossbows. The illusioners caused confusion with their clones, distracting them long enough for the wind callers to sweep them away with powerful gusts of air. Pillagers in the trenches lobbed grenades, blowing up groups of GME soldiers. Illager was there as well, contemplating what to do next. Suddenly, someone appeared behind him. "Hi!" she said. "Watcha doing?" "Who are you?" Illager asked, rapidly aiming his crossbow at her and charging. "Don't worry, I'm not in the military!" the half-wolf answered. "I'm Rose, the Blood Ultimate!" "Oh." Illager said, slowly lowering his weapon. "Why are you here then? This is an active warzone." He gestured to the battle behind them. "'Cause warzones are awesome!" Rose responded. Illager nodded and fired another arrow at an approaching zombie. Rose grabbed his crossbow out of his hand and broke it in half. Two pillagers rushed over and aimed their crossbows at her, and four vindicators also arrived, axes ready. Rose transformed into a huge and powerful wolf, drawing the attention of soldiers in the trenches. They began to attack her as Illager moved back. Royal Guardsmen who were further back arrived on the scene and swung their maces. Rose howled and charged through the guards and onto the battlefield. "What in the name of Cyprezz just happened?" Illager asked as they all watched the massive wolf charge through everyone. "Where is she going?" That question was not answered, as Rose dove into the water and vanished. Illager's communicator began to beep.
As this battle happened, IGE had drones set up cameras on Illager Island to watch. At the same time, he called Marshal GrossDeimosStein. "Why should they surrender?" he asked. "You can't demand that. Truth be told, you two just sound scared that, with the Illagers helping us, you're gonna lose." "Do you really think we're afraid?" the Marshal retorted. "We will continue the war even if the whole of the PMC is against us! We're not afraid to bring about the apocalypse. In addition, we are preparing for defense. Soon, the entire territory of the Empire will be one large powerful fortified area, and if you try to storm it, the PMC forces will suffer losses that the PMC has never seen in its history." "Then we won't storm it." IGE said. " Simple. But be warned: if you try to attack us, we will fight back. The rest of this world doesn’t have to - in fact, it doesn’t deserve to - suffer for your leader’s paranoia. You should really consider a coup. Think about it, GrossDeimosStein: under your rule, the Great Monster Empire could make peace with other nations. Together, we could rebuild PMC in harmony, and then we’d leave you and your monsters alone if you wanted us to. Oh, hey Illager." Apparently, he had accidentally added Illager to the call while selecting contacts, and the Arch had joined just as IGE finished his sentence. "In the history of the Empire, not a single officer has ever rebelled against the emperor!" GrossDeimosStein protested. "We swore an oath to him! Any rebellion or coup will be crushed!" "That's what they said about the former Arch." Illager said. "Now look who's in charge! Apparently power changes hands easily." "Indeed." IGE commented, eating an Oreo. "Oaths can be broken. Especially when, according to national laws - which, may I remind you, all nations must follow, no matter their government or hierarchy - if a person is mentally unfit to lead, they may be removed from power." He was referring to the rumors the Marshal had told the war council the previous night about how the Emperor had started the war because he had forgotten to take his schizophrenia pills. Marshal GrossDeimosStein paused and thought about it: should he stage a coup?

Why I Love This Chapter
Yes, I know this is only the second chapter and none of the ones after have been written yet, but I still wanna talk about why I love this one. The majority of the world war for me was political stuff, as I was part of the war council and Chaos Legion high command (I'm an SCL), but I still participated in the roleplay a lot. However, the majority of the roleplay on threads was us defending ourselves against GME missile strikes, with the occasional set of comments about fighting. With this chapter, I got to go into more detail about what was happening across Anarchy Island (and Illager Island) during the war. The Western District stuff was already kinda set, since the nuking of it was in the roleplay, but the stuff that happened in the other districts was stuff I got to come up with myself, which I really enjoyed. I also like how the chapter alternates between intense fighting scenes and calm stuff, like Rylu and the Marshal observing the battle. Anyways, I just wanted to write that little paragraph about how I like this chapter. Hope you liked it too!

This story is not in any way meant to paint any groups in a bad light. While I will admit that it's hard to shake my "Legion equals good guys, GME equals bad guys" mentality while writing this series, I try my best. If anyone thinks this is being biased by saying something about a "bad" thing one of the parties did, just know that I get all the major events from actual things that happened during the war (see the next section), and thus, it's not propaganda-like stuff, just facts.

Fun (?) Fact
Marshal GrossDeimosStein informed me in our private negotiation chat (where we've been talking about relations between the Legion and GME) of a plan the GME had come up with to respond to the Illager Clan entering the war:
"When the Illager Clan entered the war, the GME command began to develop the so-called military operation, code-named 'Radioactive Waltz of Death', it was a plan for radiological warfare. According to the plan of this operation, the Imperial Air Force was supposed to drop cobalt bombs on Illager Island, according to the calculation of the command, this operation was supposed to cause serious radiation infection of the island, but this plan remained on the shelves.For some reason the Emperor did not give permission to begin this operation."

So, as you can see, the GME was apparently planning to bomb the Illagers and spread radiation. I tried to find a way to write this in, but couldn't, so it's included here as a fun (?) fact.
