PMC is an interesting case: People preach about how inclusive this site is, but as soon as people want to talk about anything that can be perceived as "divisive" it seems to fall apart. It's an interesting case, because politics in regards to LGBTQ+ has been discussed on pmc before without much issue, until someone presents the case against it. If PMC is so inclusive, why is it that politics as such is frowned upon like so. This is not unique to this site, of course, but it's still very applicable.



And honestly, it's not like I need PMC to be inclusive as such: I am fine if people would rather avoid certain politics or certain political opinions, but in saying you're inclusive on a site, you need to allow for both to exist. That or accept that you're not as inclusive as you perceive yourself to be. Real life issues are already tackled plenty on pmc, this strictly falls into that category for me. Whether I want it discussed or not is a different matter, but if you want to be inclusive, be inclusive.

The unknown is a fascinating entity: On one hand it's the greatest fascination of all, something that you want to discover and figure out. On the other hand, it's also the entity that scares one the most.

I often say this, and I believe it holds true in most given scenarios, but I want to apply it to a common topic on pmc and in regards to pmc skinmaking specificially: Skin styles and changing them.

Skin styles stagnate as one grows afraid of change; change being the unknown variable of the equation. "What will my followers think?", "Will my new ideas be better?" are common worries: These are natural to worry about. However, the answer will only be given by your own fascination to find out the answer to those questions, and you do that by trying it out. Usually other people are as interesting in experimentation and new ideas as you are, so by any means, going for it is a great idea.

This leads to a second situation: Don't get stuck in something you don't want to do in regards to skinning on pmc just to please others. You're spending your free time doing this, have fun with it. As soon as the fun of it is gone, you lose out on a lot. Make sure you always have fun with your hobbies lads, and if you want to try something new, don't hold back, discovering the unknown is the greatest source of fascination and awe!

Caring about attention is fine: If you repeatedly mention the numbers your submissions, wall posts etc. pull, you care about the attention you're getting. It gets annoying as soon as you claim you do not care about it, while still clearly iteratively mentioning and talking about the numbers you pull. If you care about attention, just admit and accept that you do; there's literally nothing wrong with doing so. Trying to convince others you do not care, while you talk about said attention repeatedly is what's annoying, not that you want the attention in the first place. This is not to encourage attention-seeking which will also get annoying, but moreso that it's fine to subtly or remotely care about how well your stuff does, and that admitting to such is definitely better than constantly saying you don't care while you clearly do.

The best initial tip for shading, colouring and skin making in general is just to try it out. If you give a child a pencil, you're not going to expect a masterpiece on the first attempt, but they will certainly put down lines, shapes, dots and try to create something. It is in that retained effort that you progress and learn. It is not meant to just be easy; it is not to say some won't learn it faster than others, but you need to be willing to just give it a shot to progress. You can learn all the theory in the world, but if you can't apply it at all, how much does it really help you? Sometimes you just gotta try some scenarios and techniques, then worry about the quality later, rather than before you've started. You didn't walk properly on your first try either, you gotta give it time - eventually you will be able to do it if you put in the effort.

Happy ALMOST Spooptober, everyone!
There are a lot of "tober" prompt lists, and we didn't want anyone to miss the first day themes! So, we've included Day 1 themes with links to each corresponding tober event. Whether you skin, draw, build or write, there's a tober prompt for each! Let's spread the tober cheer!



What is Skintober?
Skintober is an event in October that Fawne came up with in 2017 to help improve their skin making. Participants are tasked with creating a Halloween themed skin each day corresponding to a calendar, similar to Inktober! Since then, members from around the site have created their own Skintober prompt lists, and remains a tradition in the skinning community.

There have been several spin off's of Skintober including Storytober and Drawtober. They're also included in this list!

Every single time I actually get around to checking the community's recent activity out, I feel shocked to see that the site feels more and more like a cesspool of wallposts than it does a content-based site. It genuinely stuns me, that the site feels this wall post-centered sometimes. I fully understand why the wall posts are appealing, but at the same time, I long for the days where wall posts weren't there and content felt at the centre of everything. The amount of "xd random" material on here gets staggering sometimes, and while I understand that my dismay with such is also me growing older, it does sometime feel like it really waters down the "creative community" aspect of the site. I am not going to claim wall posts don't bring some qualities with them, they definitely do; but sometimes it just feels like it really has watered down certain aspects of what it felt like set the community apart from other social media.
